    BERNARD DeVANTIER
    WHEATFIELD - Bernard G. (Barney) DeVantier, 74, of 2266 Niagara Road, died today (August 23, 1971) in Memorial Medical Center after a long illness. A native of the Town of Wheatfield he was employed as a millwright at the Carborundum Co. for 42 years. He retired in 1962. For the past 19 years he was active in tourism as owner and operator of the DeVantier's Motel on Niagara Falls Boulevard. Mr. DeVantier was a lifelong member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bergholtz. He served as a trustee on the church council and as a member of the building committee. Surviving are his widow, Louise (Klute) DeVantier; two daughters, Mrs. Fremont (June) Ferchen of Sanborn and Elaine DeVantier of Resida, Calif.; two sons, the Rev. Glenn DeVantier of Warren, Mich. and Ralph DeVantier of Sanborn; four brothers. Edward and John DeVantier of Niagara Falls and Howard and Alfred DeVantier, both of Sanborn; three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Loge, Mrs. Edward (Edna) Mueller both of Niagara Falls, and Mrs. Irma Blank of Sanborn and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home. Sanborn, Wednesday at 2 p.m. and at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Lehman officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7. to 9 p.m. Memorial may be made to the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church.

    Louise A. DeVantier, 94, owner of the DeVantier Motel on Niagara Falls Boulevard for 20 years, died Monday (June 20, 1994) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda.
    The former Louise A. Klute was born in Horeb, WI., and came to this area in 1916. She worked at the former Bell Aircraft Co. for seven years during the 1950s.
    She had been a resident of North Gate Manor Nursing Home since 1987.
    She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, and the Women of the Church.
    Her husband, Bernhard, died in 1971.
    Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Glenn B. of Warren, Mich., and Ralph R. of Sanborn; two daughters, Elaine J. of Spokane, Wash., and June Ferchen; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in St. James Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery

    NIAGARA FALLS - Mrs. Rose L. Schultz, 81, formerly of Weston Avenue, died Tues. day (Nov. 30, 1976) at Memorial Nursing Home, where she had been a patient for the past three years.
    Born in Wheatfield, she was a longtime resident of this city and was a member of the St. Paul-Calvary Lutheran Church and the Ladies Organization of the Church. She was the wife of the late John A. Schultz who died in 1962.
    Survivors include a son, Edward J. Schultz of this city; two daughters, Mrs. George (Gertrude) Gombert of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Glenn (Helen) DeVantier of Warren, Mich.; a brother, William Buerger of Bergholtz; four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Ida) Wolf, Mrs. Donald (Esther) Toellner, both of this city, Mrs. Fred (Lydia) Werth of Sanborn and Mrs. Walter (Gertrude) Holland of Lewiston; six grandchildren: and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in St. Paul-Calvary Lutheran Church Friday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Robert Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul-Calvary Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cornell and Daggett Chapel today 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
