    SANBORN - Marvin W. Wendt, 73, of Shenk Road, a Niagara County legislator from 1978 to 1991, died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
    He was born on Nov. 23, 1922, in Cambria, the son of William and Grace Wendt. On June 17, 1944, he married the former Ruth O. Belling in St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Marvin W. Wendt North Tonawanda.
    Born in Cambria, he was self-employed as a well driller and excavator from 1944 to 1989.
    From 1978 to 1991, Mr. Wendt served as a Niagara County legislator.
    He was a member of the Western New York and the New York State Volunteer Firemen's Association, and was active in civic affairs. He was a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club. He was very active with the Republican party and was a past Republican committeeman.
    He served as past president of the Sanborn Fire Company, where he also was a past assistant fire chief, past president of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, past treasurer of both St. Martin's Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Walmore Road, where he was a member.
    He was an avid fan, as well as a collector, of old steam engines, and was active in the Western New York Gas and Steam Association, where he served as director.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lance Wendt of Sanborn; three daughters, Kathleen Goss, Janelle Kroening and Lynette Sessman, all of Sanborn; six brothers, Donald Wendt, Bertrum Wendt, Glenn Wendt, William Wendt Jr., Kenneth Wendt and Forest Wendt, all of Sanborn; a 1 sister, Gracellyn Bilek of Sanborn; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Friday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz, where the Sanborn Fire Company and the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association will hold services at 8:45 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
    Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

    Marvin W. Wendt, a self-employed well driller and excavator and a Niagara County legislator for 13 years, died Tuesday (Aug. 20, 1996) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
    Wendt, 73, of Shenk Road was born in the Town of Cambria and had been a lifelong resident of Sanborn.
    He had owned and operated a business as a well driller and excavator from 1944 to 1989.
    Wendt was a member of the Niagara County Legislature from 1978 to 1991 and was active with the Republican Party, serving as Republican committeeman.
    He was also active in civic affairs and was a charter member of the Sanborn Lions Club.
    Wendt had also been active in the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company, having served as their past president and past assistant fire chief. He was also the past president of the Niagara County Volunteer Fireman's Association.
    He was an avid fan, as well as a collector himself, of old steam engines. He became involved with the Western New York Gas and Steam Association and had served as the club's director.
    Wendt was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wheatfield and had been past treasurer at St. Peter's and also St. Martin's Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda.
    He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth O. Belling, whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage with on June 17.
    He is also survived by a son, Lance; three daughters, Kathleen Goss, Janelle Kroening and Lynette Sessman; six brothers, Donald, Bertram, Glenn, William Jr., Kenneth and Forest; a sister, Gracellyn Bilek; and 11 grandchildren.
    A joint memorial service will be offered by the Sanborn Fire Company and the Niagara County Volunteer Fireman's Association at 8:45 P.M. Friday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz.
    Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

    Ruth O. Wendt, 86, of Sanborn, NY passed away peacefully Sunday, May 20th, 2007 at DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, New York.
    Mrs. Wendt was born in Amherst, Erie County, NY on October 26, 1920, the daughter of the late John and Elfie [ Wolf ] Belling. She was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church - Walmore Sanborn, NY. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and caring for her family.
    Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Marvin W. Wendt, who died on August 20, 1996.
    Surviving are he loving children, Kathleen [ Duane ] Goss, Lance [ Debra ] Wendt, Janelle [ Donald ] Kroening, Lynette [ Ronald ] Sessman; a brother Ralph [ Donna ] Belling, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother in-laws, Donald Wendt, Glenn [ Jean ] Wendt, Kenneth [ Diane ] Wendt, Forrest Wendt, sister-in-laws, Gracellyn [ John ] Bilek, Noreen and Darla Wendt. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Naomi Belling; brother-in-laws, Bertram and William B. Wendt, Jr.; sister-in-laws, Dorothy and Gail Wendt.
    The family will be present at Tuesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road.     MARTINSVILLE. N. Y. - A lovely
    wedding was solemnized at St.
    Martin's church here on Saturday,
    June 17, at 3 o'clock, when Miss
    Ruth Belling, daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. John Belling, of Beech Ridge,
    N. Y., was united In marriage to
    Mr. Marvin Wendt, son of Mr. and
    Mrs. William B. Wendt, of Banborn,
    N. Y.
    The . double ring ceremony took
    place in front of a beautiful candlelighted
    altar of 'mixed carnations,
    peonies, roses, ferns and palms. The
    Rev. Theodore Bermer officiated.
    The bride, who entered the church
    on the arm of her father to the
    strains of Lohengrin's wedding
    march, was beautiful in a long trained
    gown of white satin, fashioned
    on princess lines, long fitted sleeves
    with a sweetheart neck-line trimmed
    with orange blossoms centered with
    seed pearls* Her veil fell from a
    tiara bordered, in lace. She carried
    an arm bouquet of white roses,
    white sweet peas, for-get-me-nots,
    and streamers of baby's breath.
    Miss Naomi Belllnsr. only sister
    of the bride, was maid of honor.
    She wore a long sleeved pink rayon
    georgette gown, shirred bodice, and
    flowing skirt with matching headdress.
    , She carried a bouquet of
    pink roses, sweet peas and baby's
    breath tied with a pink ribbon.
    Mrs. ° Donald Wendt, slster-talaw
    of the groom, wore a gown of
    yellow rayon georgette made on the
    same lines as' that of the maid of
    honor 'with matching headdress.
    She carried a bouquet of Talisman
    roses, sweet peas, and baby's breath
    tied with a blue ribbon.
    Miss Alice Loescke, cousin of the
    bride, wore blue rayon georgette also
    made on the same lines as that of
    the maid of honor and matching
    headdress. She carried a bouquet
    of light pink roses, sweet peas and
    baby's breath tied with a yellow ribbon.
    Diane Blonk,- cousin of the bride,
    was flower girl. She wore a rose
    taffeta gown made on the same
    lines as the other attendants. She
    carried a bouquet of pink roses,
    sweet peas and baby's breath tied
    with a white ribbon.
    Forrest Wendt, brother of the
    groom, was ring bearer. Bertrum
    Wendt, brother of the groom, was
    best man. Ralph Belling, enly
    brother of the bride, and Lawrence
    Walck, cousin of the groom, were
    the other attendants. The ushers
    were Benjamin Sattleberg, cousin
    of the bride, and Arnold Wendt,
    uncle of the groom.
    Solos were sung by Miss Mary
    Celling and Miss Eugene Thiele
    with ^Mlss Ada Prohaska at the
    organ"
    The mother of the bride wore a
    crepe dress of navy blue and the
    mother of the groom wore a flowered
    white jersey dress. They
    both wore corsages of sweetpeas
    and roses.
    A reception was held at the home
    of the bride. After a wedding
    trip. Mr. and Mrs. Wendt will reside
    on the Saunders Settlement
    road.
    Showers were given 'by Miss
    Naomi Belling. Mrs, Donald Wendt,
    Mrs. Alton Wendt, Mr. and Mrs.
    Hubert Pfohl, Miss Ada Prohacka,
    and a dinner by the Carborundum
    girls was sponsored by Miss J. L.
    Pitek. The M. X. Co-Workers of
    the Carborundum also presented
    her with a lovely wedding gift.

    Settlement Road, died Monday
    (Nov. 29, 1971) in a Buffalo
    hospital after a long illness.
    Born in Detroit, Mich., he
    came to this village in 1901,
    operating a dairy farm here for
    many years.
    His father, the late William
    Wendt, tapped the first gas
    well in Niagara County in 1927,
    and in 1938 Mr. Wendt and his
    brothers began operating the
    Wendt Brothers Gas Co.
    The company supplied
    Sanborn residents with gas
    until 1956, when the franchise
    was sold to the Iroquois Gas
    Co.
    Mr. Wendt also worked for a
    time at the Buffalo Pump Co.
    as a machinist.
    A member of St. Paul's
    Evangelical Lutheran Church,
    North Tonawanda, he was an
    exempt member of. the Sanborn
    Volunteer Fire Co.
    He is survived by his widow
    Grace Wendt; seven sons,
    Donald Wendt of Niagara
    Falls, and Marvin, Bertrum,
    Glenn, Kenneth, Forrest and
    William B. Wendt Jr., and a
    daugher, Mrs.John(Gracellyn)
    Bilek, all of Sanborn.
    Also surviving are two

    NORTH TONAWANDA, - John G. Belling, 83, of 7205 Townline Road, Pendleton, a retired farmer, died Thursday (Oct. 12, 1967) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He formerly operated a farm in Pendleton and also one in the Town of Amherst, Erie County. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church. His wife, the former Elsie Wolf, died in 1950.     Pioneer Resident Is Laid to Rest
    SANBORN, Feb. 23-The funeral of William F. Wendt, 76, who died Saturday at his home in Saunder's (sic) Settlement road, was held from the home yesterday at 2:30 p. m. and at St. Peter's church, at Walmore, at 3 o'clock and was attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends.
    The bearers included: Ben Wendt, Philip Wendt, Robert Wendt, Edwin Beutel. Rudolph Beutel and William Beutel. Flower bearers were Donald Wendt, Merwyn (sic), Wendt, Ben Walck, Jr., and Lawrence Walck. The Rev. Edward A. Graubau (sic) was the officiating Clergyman. Interment was in St. Peter's cemetery, Walmore.

Jan 9, 1890 married to Wm. Wendt, who died Feb 19, 1938, had 5 children. Right after marriage, moved to Detroit Mich, there until 1901, then moved to present home of Alton Wendt, near Sanborn where she died. Jan. 3 lapsed into a coma and fell asleep Sun. morning Jan 7 (at) 3:25. Survivors: 3 sons, Alton and Wm. of Sanborn, Arnold of Bergholz; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ben Wendt Sr. of Sanborn and Mrs. Edna Walck of Median; 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Suffered from hardening of the arteries which it seems weakened her brain and affected her mind, this was already apparent about 15 yrs. ago, but was serious only in the past 6 yrs. or so.     The funeral of William Wendt was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late residence on Lockport avenue and a half an hour later at St. Paul's church in Martinsville. The services were conducted bv Rev. William T. Schmidt and were largely attended. Burial was in the St. Paul's cemetery. The pallbearers were: A. W. Babel, John Ziehl, August Martin, John Jagow, August Errick and Charles Fehrman, residents of Martinsville and the Town of Wheatfield.

    North Tonawanda, March 31 - Charles Belling, 88, died Saturday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Adolph Thiele, of the Shawnee Road, Town of Wheatfield. Mr. Belling was born in Sweeney street when this part of the city was part of the Town of Wheatfield and the street was known as the Creek road. He retired as a farmer 20 years ago. He was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran church at Martinsville. He is survived by three sons, John of the Town of Pendleton, George of the Town of Wheatfield, and Charles Belling, Jr. of Tonawanda; four daughters, Mrs. Robert Thiele and Mrs. Louis Sattelberg, of this city; Mrs. Adolph Thiele of the Town of Wheatfield, and Mrs. Walter Denel of the Town of Amherst; 21 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was also the father of the late Mrs. Anna Ewald, of this city Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the Hamp Funeral home, 37 adam street, with the Rev. Theophilus Berner officiating. Interment will be in St. Martin's cemetery.
