    Walter E. Toellner age 88, of the Town of Wheatfield, April 9, 2009 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.Walter was a WWII veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a survivor of the HMS Rohna which was sunk on Thanksgiving 1943 resulting in the largest loss ever of American life at sea. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1451, the V.F.W. and was a 69-year member of the Adams Fire Co. Walter was active in Wheatfield politics, serving as an Assessor for 8 years and serving on the Town of Wheatfield Planning Board. He had worked a crane operator for Schebell Ready Mix for 20 years and retired from the Niagara County Water Authority. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He was the husband of the late Ruth E. Toellner who died in 2008. Beloved father of John (Donna) Toellner of Irwin, PA, William (Brenda) Toellner of Harrisburg, PA, James (Bernadine) Toellner of Grand Island and Joanne Walck of Wheatfield; grandfather of Jennifer, Bethany, Jonathan, Daniel, David, Benjamin, Brittany, Kristin, Nicholas and Ryan; great-grandfather of five great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM from St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 875 Eggert Dr., in North Tonawanda, the Rev. Dr. A. W. Moldenhauer will officiate. Ruth was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and its Ladies Guild and the Adams Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She had worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections and she enjoyed playing cards and bowling.Beloved wife of Walter E.     Buffalo, after a brief illness. A
    lifelong resident of North Tonawanda,
    he was a member of, the
    board of trustees of the St. Peter's
    Evangelical and Reformed church.

    Surviving are hU wife. Lena; two

    TOWN OF WHEATFIELD,
    Nov 26 - Mrs. Louise Toellner, 95,
    of Falls Blvd., died last night (Nov.
    25, 1955) after a long illness.
    Born in Germany, she had lived
    here for the last 83 years and was
    the widow of George C. Toellner,
    who died in 1934. He was a super-
    visor and held several county
    jobs.
    She was a member of St. Peter's
    Evangelical and Reformed Church;
    the Women's Guild of the church
    and an auxiliary member of the
    Adams Fire Dept.
    She is survived by two daugh-
    ters, Miss Hulda Toellner, and Miss
    Thelma Toellner; two sons, Ben-
    jamin J. Toellner, and Walter W.
    Toellner, all of the Town of Wheat-
    field, five gfrandchildren and 10
    great-grandchildren.
    The Rev. Charles s. Kriete will
    condust the funeral service at 2
    p.m. Monday in the residence. In-
    terment will be in Salem Cemetery.

    A former North Tonawandan,
    Mrs. Sophia Fehrmann,
    now of Taylor Ridge,
    111., is celebrating her 90th
    birthday today.
    Mrs. Fehrmann moved to Taylor
    Ridge, about a year ago following
    the death of her daughter,
    Mrs. Ruth Toellner with whom
    she had made her home.
    She is the widow of the l a te
    Charles Fehrmann, proprietor of
    a hotel for many years in Lockport
    Rd., Martinsville s e c t i o n .
    They were parents of t h r ee
    daughters, Clara. Lucinda and
    Ruth and a son, Arthur. All are
    deceased.
    Mrs. Fehrmann, the f o r m e r
    Sophia Freck, was born in the
    Freck family home, Nash Rd., in
    1869. She and her husband lived
    their entire married life in Martinsville.
    She has two grandchildren,
    Walter E. Toellner, North
    Tonawanda, and Artha Fehrmann
    Stuebe. She makes her home with
    Mrs. Stuebe.
    Mrs. Fehrmann still busies herself
    with light household duties,
    attends church regularly and en
    joys television. She retains her
    membership in St. Paul's Luther-
    an Church Falls Blvd.
    Mrs. Fehrmann has a sister,
    Mrs. Emma Zimmerman, 520 Old
    Falls Blvd. Other members of her
    immediate family were four sisters
    and a brother, the late Mrs.
    Mary Edwards. Elizabeth Ernsting,
    Louise Hepp, Caroline Wollenberg
    and a brother, the late
    Joseph Freck.
