    RANSOMVILLE — Wendy Jo (Machaby) Kavanaugh, age 57, of Ransomville, NY, left this world to fly with the Angels on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, to parents, Donna and Hector Machaby.

    She graduated from Niagara Wheatfield H.S. in 1971, and also graduated from Niagara County Community College, Buffalo State College, and Washington State University. She beautifully played eleven instruments, all of which she was self taught. She once was the 3rd chair Bassonist in the Buffalo Philharmonic. Wendy was a very skilled craftswoman, hulling and spinning raw wool that she sheared from sheep, hand dyed, and made wearable clothing to sell in her shop, Meadow Creek Weaving, in Palmer, Washington.

    Predeceased by parents, Hector and Donna Machaby. She leaves behind a sister, Sherry (Sissy) (Bill) Benz of Ransomville, NY; daughter, Callie Benz of Ransomville, NY; nephews, Nicholas Benz of Niagara Falls, NY and Wm. Jr. (Pamela) Benz of Woodstock, GA; great-niece and great-nephew, Caitlin and Colin Benz also of Woodstock , GA; also survived by the residents and staff of Heritage Manor of Ransomville; and her special friend, Ed Weber.

    There will be no visitation, however there will be a memorial service at a later date. Donations will be gratefully accepted by Save-A-Pet of Lockport, due to both her love of animals. Arrangements were made by Hardison Funeral Home.

    BERGHOLTZ, Aug. 6.-The Rev.
    Otto Bruss officiated at a double
    ring ceremony when his granddaughter,
    Miss Donna J. Bruss, daughter
    •of Mr. and Mrs. Roland W. Bruss,
    Niagara road, was united in marriage
    with Pvt. Hector F. Machaby, son of
    Mr. and Mrs. Francis J. Machaby,
    Sr., 274 Miller street, North Tonawanda.
    The wedding took place at
    St. James'. Lutheran church, this
    village.
    Given in marriage by her father,
    the bride wore a gown of Skinner's
    gardenia white satin with fitted
    painted bodice, vestee front and mandarin
    collar trimmed with scrolls of
    seed pearls and rhinestones. The full
    gathered skirt fell into graceful folds
    to1 the floor and extended into a
    long cathedral-length train and leg of
    mutton sleeves pointed over the hand.
    Her veil of heirloom lace, also worn
    by her mother. extcnde*d to the edge
    of the train and was held in place
    by a cape made from the same lace'
    and trimmed with beading to match
    the gown. She carried a colonial
    bouquet of white carnations, centered
    with a white orchid.
    Miss Aurclanne Abel was the
    bride's only attendant. She wore
    powder blue nylon marquisette with
    a draped pleated bodice and a
    pointed front with a bouffant skirt.
    The jacket had a shirred mandarin
    collar and cuff-gauntlets to match.
    Sfte wore a helmet of matching
    material and carried a colonial bouquet
    of roses and carnations/
    Miss Dolores Franches, soloist,
    sang. "Because,*- and "The Lord's
    Prayer." '.
    The best man was Mr. Silviu Dan
    and the ushers were Mr. Edward
    Strough and Mr. Robert Baurque. All
    wore white dinner jackets.
    Mrs. Bruss rhose for her daughter's
    wedding, a street length dress
    of navy sheer with navy and white
    accessories and a corsage of yellow
    and white carnations -and roses.
    The bridegroom's mother wore a
    dress of black crepe with white accessories
    and corsage of white carnations.

    A dinner and reception followed
    at Cutt's Clay Pipe room, -Tonawanda.
    For her going away outfit, the
    bride chose a dress of yellow linen
    with black and white, accessories and
    an orchid corsage.
    Upon their return from a motor
    trip to Atherely, OnL, Pvtv Machaby
    will return to Camp Pickett, Va.,
    where he is stationed with the 118th
    Medical BattaU'on. He entered the
    service on March 20, 1951 and received
    his basic training in Camp
    Pickett. Mrs. Machaby will live at
    home with her parents for the
    present.

    died Saturday in Mount St. Mary's
    Hospital, Lewiston.
    Mr. Bruss was active in area
    firemen's organizations and was a
    retired employe of the Carborundum
    Co. in Niagara Falls.
    He was secretary and general
    manager of the Cooperative Fire
    Insurance Corp. of Bergholz and a
    member and past president of the
    Bergholz Fire Company and the
    Niagara County Volunteer Fire
    Advisory Board.
    Survivors include his wife, Emma
    Eggert Bruss; two daughters, Mrs.
    Clyde Kroening of Sanborn and Mrs.

    Emma E. Bruss, former deputy registrar of vital statistics for the Town of Wheatfield, died Tuesday (March 11, 1997) in Glenwood Care Center, Oxnard, Calif. She was 96.
    The former Emma Eggert was born in Wheatfield and attended Holy Ghost Lutheran School
    During the 1920s she worked for the Remington Rand and Wurlitzer companies. Mrs. Bruss was deputy registrar of vital statistics during the 1940s and 1950s.
    She was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church for 26 years and St. James Lutheran Church for 65 years. Mrs. Bruss also was a member at Mount Cross Lutheran Church in Camarillo, Calif.
    Survivors include a daughter, Donna Machaby of Lewiston; a son, R. Lee of Camarillo; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz.

    A beautiful wedding was solemnized
    Saturday aiternoon at four o'clock at
    the St. Jacobi Lutheran church at
    Bergholtz. N. Y.. when Miss Emma Eggert.
    daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton
    Eggert, became the bride of Roland W.
    Bruss. son of the Reverend and Mrs.
    A Bruss.
    The ceremony was performed by the
    Reverend Mr. Brass, father of the
    groom. The altar was attractively dec-
    orated with snapdragons,, gladiolus and
    palms. The bridal party entered th e
    church to the strains of the "Wedding
    March" from "Lohengrin" played by
    Theodore Grabau.
    The bride' was gowned in bridal satin.
    the skirt being of sik chantilly lace
    made with an uneven hemline with cape
    collar drapaed in front with rhinestones.
    Her veil was of silk princess chantillly
    lace arranged in cap effect with orange
    bossoms at each side. She carried a
    shower bouquet of bride roes, lliy-of-
    the-valley and baby breath.
    The maid of honor, Miss Artel Bruss,
    wore a gown of yellow georgette. Miss
    Elfrieda Bruss,, one of the bridesmaids,
    wore a gown of peach georgette and
    Miss Hildegarde Heuer, the other brides-
    maid, was garbed in pink georgette.
    Both carried an arm bouquet of Ophelia
    roses and baby breath.
    The bride's little niece, Georgette
    Kkrull,, who acted as flower girl, looked
    charming ina pink flowered crepe de
    chine with a rosette of pink satin rib-
    bon on one shoulder. She carried a
    basket of sweet peas and baby breath.
    Alvin Gradau was best man, and
    the other attendants were Edward
    Schimshack and Erwi Krull. Carl
    Berens and Gerad Bruss were the
    ushers.
    The bride's mother, Mrs. Anton Eg-
    gert, was gowned in black silk flat
    crepe,, and the mother of the groom,
    Mrs. Otto Bruss, was attired in a flow-
    ered silk crepe.
    The groom's gift to the bride was a
    platinum bracelet set with diamonds;
    the bride gave the groom a diamond
    scarf-pin. The bride presented her at
    tendants with sik cepe de chine
    cansetts. The groom's present to the
    best man was a pair of white golld cuff
    inks, and to the attendants, leather
    belts.
    Following the ceremony a reception
    was held at the home of the bride's
    parents. Covers were laid for 24 at the
    bride's table which was cnetered with
    a large wedding cake and prettily des-
    orated in pink and white. About 50
    guests attended the reception. Mr. and
    Mrs Roland Bruss left immediately
    after the midnight supper on a wedding
    trip to New York and eastern parts.
    The bride's travelling costume was
    of blue, with hat to match, and fox fur.
    Out-of-townn guests were Mr. and Mrs.

    Behrens and daughter Marilyn Sue,

    Niagara Falls' Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Germany, the Rev. Mr. Bruss came to the United States with his parents when he was a child. The Rev.'Mr. Bruss was a gradaute of Martin Luther Seminary, Buffalo, in 1897. He served parishes in Illinois, Medina, and Michigan. He went to St. James Church, Bergholtz, on Jan. 2, 1912, and stayed until he retired in 1957. Thev pastor was a former president of the American Lutheran Synod, Buffalo District, and former secretary of
    the original Buffalo Synod. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Erna) Mielke, Mrs. Charles (Ariel) Greinert, and Mrs. Donald (Elfrieda) Decker, all of Niagara Falls; two sons, Roland W. and Gerald H. Bruss, both of the Town of Wheatfield, 10 grand children, and 17 great grandchildren. Friends may call until 10 a.m. Thursday at Fretthold Funeral Home and at St. James Church from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, followed by services. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery.

    at the home here. Mrs. Bruss
    was born at Cedarburg, Wis., and
    had resided here the last 40 years.
    She was an active member and
    worker of St. Jacobs' church and
    Its Ladles* Aid society.
    Besides her husband, she is survived
    by three daughters, Mrs. Raymond
    Mlelke. of Niagara Falls, Mrs.
    Charles Grelner, of Lockport, and
    Mrs. Donald Becker, of this village;

    BEROHOLTZ, July 8 - Funeral services will be held here tomorrow afternoon for Anton C. Eggert, 75, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs, Roland Bruss, Thursday morning. Mr. Eggert, who was bom in Buffalo, came to this village at the age of 15. He was one of the oldest members of the First Volunteer Fire company of this village and was a member of the Holy Ghost Lutheran church. Surviving are two sons, William C., of Niagara Falls, and Edward, of this village; four daughters, Mrs. Frank J. Dutton, of Tonawanda: Mrs. Arnold Krull, of North Tonawanda; Mrs. Cart R. Behrens, of Tonawanda, and Mrs. Roland W. Bruss. of this village. Services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the home and at 2:30 from the Holy Ghost Lutheran church, the Rev. John Kuchenbecker officiating. Burial will be In the Holy Ghost cemetery.

    BERGHOLTZ - June 17. Mrs. Anton Eggert (nee Albertine Hoffmeister) died Tuesday morning at her home after a stroke which she suffered Monday morning. She is survived by her husband, Anton Eggert, two sons William of Niagara Falls, LaSalle section, and Edward of this village, 4 daughters.
