LOCKPORT - Elton E. (Red) Giertz, 48, of 266 Ontario St., died Sunday at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. The rescue squad of the Lockport Fire Department reponded and the resuscitator was used with no reponse. Willis C. Strickland, of Niagara County Coroner, pronounced the man dead at the scene. Mr. Giertz was a native of Niagara Falls, born July 15, 1923, the son of Frank and Leona Buehring Giertz. He was an inspector at the Harrison. Radiator Division of General Motors Corp. for the past six years. He had formerly been an employe of' the Upson Co. here. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Lockport Horseshoe League, the U&W Local 686 and their Bowling League; and was a WWII Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; a son, Richard W. Giertz; a daughter, Mrs. Duane Godfrey; his mother, Mrs. Leona Giertz, and three grandchildren all of here. Friends may call from 24 and 7-9 pjn. at the Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee. Funeral services will be held at 11 ajn. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Saxton and LaGrange Streets. Burial win be in Acadia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton

The marriage of Miss Mary Ann Nowicki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Martin Nowicki of 136 Knapp St,to Elton Edward Giertz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Giertz of Lockport, took place Saturday, July 15 at St.Mary's Rectory at high noon. TheRev. John Hrycyna performed the ceremony. The bride was attired in white slipper satin entrain with a long veil of illusion and carried a bouquet of bride's roses and gypsophlia centered with an orchid tied with white satin ribbon. Miss Adeline Nowicki was maid of honor for her sister and wore a gown of pink marquisette with silver accessories,She wore a headdress of blue maline with daisy trim and carried pink and white carnations. Miss Gladys Hasley, cousin of the groom,was bridesmaid and wore blue marquisette with a headdress of pink maline and carried pink and white carnations. Adeline Palaszynski of Niagara Falls was flower girl and wore a floor length dress of pink satin and carried pink sweet peas and white forget-me-nots tied with pink and blue ribbons.Leonard McCabe of Gasport was best man and the usher was George Moden of Gasport.Following the ceremony a dinner was served after which a reception was held at St. Mary's Hall. Upon their return' from a short wedding trip to Canada Mr. and Mrs. Giertz will reside in Lockport.
