    ZIEHL – Alice P. (nee Wurl) Ziehl, 80, of North Tonawanda, Saturday (May 9, 1981) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Amherst, N.Y., she had been a resident of North Tonawanda for more than fifty-five years and was the wife of Walter A. Ziehl who died in 1953 and mother of Andrew W. Ziehl who died in 1965.

    Mrs. Ziehl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Edward (Frieda) Wehrung, of E. Amherst, N.Y., Mrs. Arthur (Laura) Miles of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Lois E. Ziehm of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Eleanor R. Szeliga of Niagara Falls, N. Y.; two sons, Elton (Dorothy) Ziehl of North Tonawanda and Robert E. Ziehl of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Edna Bush of Sanborn, N.Y. and a brother, Elmer Wurl of North Tonawanda; twenty-four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Morgan and William Sts., Tona., where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. David B. Kaplan. Burial at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

    when Miss Alice Wurl became the
    bride of Mr, Walter Ziehl, also of
    Mart insville. The marriage was per-
    formed with the double ring ceremony
    by Rev. Henry E. Jacobs, under an
    arch, suspended from which was a
    large wedding bell of flowers. The
    bride had as her attendants, her two
    sisters, Edna and Pearl. Mr. Walde

    WURL – William F. Wurl, 81, Tuesday (June 26, 1956) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in North Tonawanda, he had lived there most of his life before moving to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Ziehl of Klemer Rd., Town of Wheatfield, four years ago. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) and was employed in the area during his lifetime. Other survivors include a son, Elmer; another daughter, Mrs. Norman Bush, both of North Tonawanda; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred of Bergholtz and Gerhardt of North Tonawanda, and three sisters, Mrs. Ada Burrows of Hamburg, Mrs. Benjamin Toellner of the Town of Wheatfield and Mrs. Edwin Leberenz of North Tonawanda.     Old Resident Dead, Carl Ziehl of Martinsville Passed Away Yesterday - Leaves Large Family.
    Carl Ziehl, aged 72 years, an old resident of the town of Pendleton died yesterday morning at his home near Martinsville. Besides his wife, Maria, he leaves five daughters, Mrs. Frederick Wurl, Mrs. William Hartwig, Mrs. G. Fleischman, Mrs. John Jaenecke, and Mrs. C. F. Goerss of this city; and five sons, John, Charles, Ferdinand, Gustav and William. Fourty-four grand children and one great grandchild survive. The deceased came to Niagara County 50 years ago and by occupation has always been a farmer. He enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew him. The funeral will be held from the late residence at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
