    William H. “Bill” Perry, 91, lifelong resident of Kentland, passed away at 2:15 PM, January 24, 2020 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center of Brook.
    He was born December 20, 1928 in Watseka, IL to the late Oliver and Della (Lyons) Perry. Bill was a graduate of A.J. Kent High School of Kentland.
    Bill proudly served in the United States Army from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1948. After his discharge, Bill was awarded with the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. His marriage was to Helen Wagner on January 23, 1954 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington. Bill and Helen just recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
    Bill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and American Legion Post 23 both of Kentland. He worked 30 plus years as a carpenter in new home construction building several of the homes in Kentland today. Following his career in construction, Bill enjoyed custodial work for 18 years at the Kentland grade school until its closing.
    Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, an occasional round of golf, and in his younger years, competitive shooting. He was an avid Purdue basketball fan for many years; after both children graduated from Indiana University, Bill transitioned to a die-hard IU basketball supporter.
    Surviving along with his wife Helen are a daughter and son, Patricia Perry of Palatine, IL, and Bill (wife: Teresa) Perry of Elgin, IL; two grandchildren, Robert Matthew Perry and Veronica Mae Perry. Also surviving is a brother, John “Jack” Perry of Dearborn, MI.
    Preceding him in death along with his parents is a sister, Fanny Collins.

    Notes:

    Helen R. (Wagner) Perry, 92, of Kentland, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at Franciscan Health Hospital of Lafayette. She was born on September 3, 1927 in Rensselaer to the late John and Nealla M. (Mathew) Wagner. Helen was a 1945 graduate of Wolcott High School.
    Her marriage was to William H. “Bill” Perry on January 23, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington. Bill preceded her in death on January 24, 2020. Helen and Bill celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this year.
    Helen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Kentland where she was continually active in the Rosary and Altar Society. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 23 and Red Hats Society of Lafayette.
    Soon after high school, Helen moved to Kentland and started work in the accounting department at Edward J. Funk and Sons, where she worked until the birth of her children. Later she began work as a teacher’s aide at Kentland Elementary School, later moving into the position of school secretary there. She then moved to the South Newton School Corporation Office where she held the position of treasurer until she retired in 1994.
    Helen enjoyed a challenging crossword puzzle, baking and cooking, and loved time spent with her family. Helen also was proud of her time spent as an election judge in Newton county.
    Helen is survived by her two children, Patricia Perry of Palatine, IL and Bill (wife: Teresa) Perry of Elgin, IL; two grandchildren, Robert Mathew Perry and Veronica Mae Perry. She is also survived by a sister, Lucille Perkins of Kentland - as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and other relatives too numerous to mention, but all much loved.
    Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents are three brothers (Edward, Donald and Russell Wagner) and two sisters (Evelyn Harris and Margaret Limp).

    REMINGTON - Mrs. Nealla M. Wagner, 83, of Remington, died at 10:40 a.m.Saturday in Rensselaer Care Center. She had been a patient there three years.
    She was born in Wolcott. In 1920 she was married, in Remington, to John M. Wagner, they fared in the Remington and Wolcott areas until his death in 1960. She then moved into Remington.
    Mrs. Wagner was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rosary and Altar Society and Wolcott American Legion Auxiliary 294.
    Surviving are three sons, Edward Wagner of Battle Ground, Donald Wagner of Remington and Russell Wagner of Rensselaer; four daughters, Mrs. Elman (Lucille) Perkins) and Mrs. William (Helen) Perry, both of Kentland, Mrs. Evelyn Harris of Remington and Mrs. Margaret Limp of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
    Also surviving are a brother, Raymond Mathew of Rensselaer; and five sisters, Mrs. Iva Deno of Goodland, Mrs. Mabel Deno of Earl Park, Mrs. Lillian Faker of Kentland, and Ms. Lorene Anstett and Mrs. Rita Mahaffey, both of Ocala, Fla.
