    DENNIS A. DeVANTIER, age 87 of Wheatfield, NY, was called peacefully to his heavenly home, on January 1, 2021 at his residence, under the care of his loving family and Niagara Hospice. Born in the Town of Wheatfield on May 23, 1933; son of the late Benjamin and Esther (Walck) DeVantier. Dennis was a life long member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Bergholz, a graduate of Niagara Falls High School, class of 1951, and served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was employed at General Abrasives as an Electrician for approximately 42 years, until his retirement. Dennis was one of the better fastpitch softball pitchers in the area, and played competitively into his 50's. He enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons play baseball, softball and basketball.Survivors include his loving wife, Doris (Kroening) DeVantier, whom he married February 15, 1958; three sons, Ronald DeVantier, Wayne (Marjorie) DeVantier, and Curtis (Stephanie) DeVantier; grandchildren, Sarah, Benjamin, Andrew, Luke, Joshua and Noah; a sister in law, Hazel (late Alfred) Haseley; a brother in law, Martin (Shirly) Kroening; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Cindy and Marcia Heuer. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helma (George) Heuer.A private service with the family, will be held in the DuBois Funeral Home, with the Rev. Denton White, officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, or Niagara Hospice.

    Farmer Dies as a Result of Fall
    Benjamin P. DeVantier, 41 years old, native of Sanborn and well known Ward road farmer, died in the Memorial hospital here this morning of injuries suffered last Thursday when he fell a short distance in his barn. Mr. DeVantier suffered a fractured skull and other injuries when a board broke as he was replacing some flooring and he was precipitated about eight feet.
    The funeral will be held from the family home in the Ward road, Sanborn, at 2 p. m., daylight saving time, Wednesday, and from the Holy Ghost Lutheran church, Bergholtz, at 2:30 p. m. with the Rev. John Kuckenbecker officiating. Burial will be in Bergholtz cemetery.
    Surviving Mr. DeVantier are his wife Esther Walck DeVantier; a daughter, Thelma may, and a son Dennis DeVantier, all of Sanborn; a brother, Edwin DeVantier, Wheatfield, and a sister, Mrs. Hubert Hasely (sic), of the Town of Niagara. Mr. DeVantier was a son of Mrs. Bertha Devantier and the late Fred DeVantier, of Sanborn.

    Funeral services for Esther Walck DeVantier, a retired employee of the Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls, will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Monday in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery.
    Mrs. DeVantier, 86, died Friday (March 10, 1989) in Niagara Falls Memorial Center after a short illness.
    She was born in Wheatfield and was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Altar Guild and Women's Quilting Group at the church and a member of the Carborundum Alumni Association and the Wheatfield Senior Citizens.
    She was the widow of Benjamin DeVantier.
    Survivors include a son, Dennis, of Wheatfield; a sister, Louise Stoelting of Wheatfield, and five grandchildren

    A very pretty wedding was solemn
    ized at two o'clock yesterday, afternoon
    at the Holy Ghost Lutheran
    church. Bergholtz. when Miss Esther
    A Walck of this village was united In
    carriage to Benjamin Devantier of
    Bergholtz. the Rev. Mr.. Starck performing
    the ceremony. The church
    was beautifully decorated with ferns
    and palms.
    The impressive ring service was used.
    The bride wore a gown of white satin
    trimmed with chiffon and pearls, and
    carried a bouquet of bride's roses and
    lillys of the valley. The bride and
    groom were attended by Miss Eleanor
    Stoeltlng of Bergholtz and Erich Walck,
    brother of. the bride. Geraldine Walck,
    sister of the bride, was flower girl; and
    Miss Louise Walck. the bride's sister.
    Miss Adele Ferchen, Miss Minnie Du-
    Bois and Miss Ella Devantier were
    maids of honor. The bridesmaid and
    her maids of honor wore white crepe
    de chine.
    Following the ceremony, a reception
    was held at the home of the bride's
    parents. Mr. and Mrs. Albert C.Walck,
    avers being laid for over 100 guests.
    The table color scheme was pink and
    white. Mr. and Mrs. Devantier will
    reside on the Ward road, south of
    Sanborn.

    Elmer Kroening, Board Chief, Dies
    SANBORN-Elmer F. Kroening, 67, of 4181 Upper. Mountain Road, prominent in civic and church affairs here and, chairman of the Planning Board in the Town of Cambria, died Friday (June 17, 1966) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in the Town of Niagara, he was the son of the late Carl and Anna Pfohl Kroening. His wife, the former Elsie Walck Kroening, died in September of 1965, Mr. Kroening was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, a member of the Board of Elders, the Church Council, the Lutheran Laymen's League of Western New York, and a past trustee of the church. He also was an exempt member of the Pekin Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Niagara County Farm Bureau Extension Service, a former director of the National Grape Cooperative and a former board member of the Starpoint Central School. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are five sons, John and Herbert, of Lockport; Raymond; of Ransomville, and Harry and Martin Kroening of Sanborn; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Haseley, Sanborn, and Mrs. Dennis DeVantier, of Bergholtz; a brother, Edward Kroening, of Sanborn, and 28 grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home, Sanborn, and from noon until 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. by Rev. LaVerne J. Fitch. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery.

    SANBORN - Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer (Elsie) Kroening, 63, of 4181 Upper Mountain Road, were held today at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Pekin by Rev. LaVerne J. Fitch. Burial was in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
    Mrs. Kroening died Saturday (Sept. 4, 1965) in Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
    Surviving, besides her husband Elmer; are five sons, Martin and Harry Kroening of Sanborn, John and Herbert Kroening of Lockport, and Raymond Kroening of Ransomville; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Haseley of Sanborn and Mrs. Dennis DeVantier of Bergholtz. Also surviving are two brothers, Edward and Erwin Walck of Sanborn; two sisters, Mrs. William Walck and Mrs. Martin Pfohl of Sanborn; and 25 grandchildren. The family and friends were present at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home in Sanborn on Sunday and Monday.
