    Phillip E. Maerten , 81, a retired electrician for the former Wurlitzer Co., died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 1991) in his Sanborn home after a long illness. Maerten retired from Wurlitzer in 1975. He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and an exempt member of the Rescue Fire Company of North Tonawanda. Survivors include his wife, the former Evelyn Witkop; a son, Gary of Cambria; a daughter, Beverly Zdrojewski of Middleport; a brother, Harold of North Tonawanda, and four grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, North Tonawanda.

    Evelyn R. Maerten , 86, a longtime Sanborn resident who moved here three years ago, died Friday (April 11, 2003) in Lockport Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
    Mrs. Maerten was born Evelyn Witkop in Lewiston. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School.
    She worked for 15 years as an assembly worker in the Wurlitzer Co. plant, North Tonawanda.
    Mrs. Maerten was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, where she belonged to the Ladies Aid Society, the Lutheran Service Society and the Parent-Teacher League.
    She was also a member of the Friendship Club in Sanborn.
    Her husband of 49 years, Philip E., died in 1991.
    Survivors include a son, Gary Sr. of Lockport; a daughter, Beverly Zdrojewski of Hartland; two brothers, Robert Witkop and James Witkop, both of North Tonawanda; a sister, Edith Strothmann of Sanborn; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, North Tonawanda.

    August Maerten, 79, a former resident of North Tonawanda, died Wednesday at his home on the Angling Rd., town of Ridgeway, N. Y. He was born in the town of Wheatfield and had resided in this vicinity the greater part of his life. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Martinsville, and a charter member of the Rescue Fire Company. Surviving are his wife, Louise, nee Krull; three sons, Theodore of Tonawanda, Harold of North Tonawanda and Philip E. of the town of Ridge way; a daughter, Mrs. Lester Eggert of Sanborn; nine grandchildren, three brothers, Joseph of North Tonawanda, Henry of Wheatfield and William of Pendleton, and two sisters, Mrs. William Stange of St. Johnsburg and Mrs. August Stolzenburg of North Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held from the Hamp Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. F. A. Hinners will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery.

    SANBORN - Mrs. Louise Maerten 84, of Saundets Settlement Rd, died Saturday (Dec. 8, 1956) at her home after a lengthy illness. She resided with her daughter, Mrs. Lester Eggert, for the last nine years;. She was the widow of August Maerten. Mrs. Maerten was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, where she had resided before taking up residence here, in addition to her daughter, she is survived by three sons. Theodore Maerten, Tonawanda city electrician, Philip Maerten, Sanborn, and Harold Maerten, North Tonawanda; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Demler and Mrs. Agatha Dornfeld, both of Summers Point, NJ., Mrs. Julia Kuhn and Miss Agnes Krull, North Tonawanda;and a brother, George Krull, North Tonawanda.     SANBORN - Benjamin A. Witkop, 71, of 3045 Upper Mountain Road, this community, died Thursday (June 11, 1964) in Mount View Hospital, Lockport, after a long illness. Born in the Town of Cambria, March 17, 1893, the son of Henry and Augusta Grossman Witkop, he lived all his life on the farm where he was born until the death of his wife, Veronica Gombert Witkop, two years ago. Since that time he made his home with his children. He was employed by the State Highway Department for 20 years and retired eight years ago. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda, and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Philip Martin and Mrs. William Strothman. both of this community; six sons, Wilbert, Robert, Norman and Kenneth Witkop, this community. Erwin Witkop, Niagara Falls, and James Witkop, North Tonawanda, two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Stoelting and Mrs, Lydia Eggert and a brother George Witkop, all of North Tonawanda; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home,Hoover Road, this community, where services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., Sunday by Rev. Enno Schmoock. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, Aug. 8, 1895, Mrs. Witkop was a daughter of Ferdinand and Bertha Gombert. She lived in this area for 50 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Tonawanda. Surviving are her husband, Benjamin A.     A delightful afternoon and evening
    was spent at the home of Mr. and
    Mrs. Arthur Gombert of Niagara
    street. Sunday, when they entertained
    for Mrs. Wilhelmina Schlmschack the
    occasion being her 84th birthday and
    also for Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wittkopp
    of Pekin. it being their wedding anniversary-
    Supper was served at 6 o'clock to
    20 guests. The table was centered
    with a birthday and a wedding cake,
    handsomely decorated. During the
    evening cards and music were enjoyed.
    Ben Wittkopp acted as toastmaster.
    Many pretty and useful gifts
    were presented to Mrs. Schlmschack.
    Out-of-town guests were present.

    Tuesday, June 17, 1913
    Mrs. Ernestine Krull, 65 years old, died at her home in Martinsville early this morning. She had been ailing for several years. The deceased was the widow of Christian Krull. Mrs. Krull was born in Germany. She had lived in this country for the last forty-four years of her life, most of that time being spent in the North Tonawanda suburb. Six daughters, the Misses Amanda and Agnes Krull, Mrs. August Martin and Mrs. Ernest Demler of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Edward C. Kuhn of Washington, D. C ., and one son, George C. Krull of North Tonawanda, survive. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late residence and half an hour later from the St. Paul's church in Martinsville, Rev. W. J. Schmidt officiating.
