    Rachael (Young) Walter died Thursday, October 8,2009 under Hospice care in Austell, Georgia. She was born in Niagara Falls, New York December 1952, daughter of Wilfred and Frances (Steele) Young. Rachael attended schools in Niagara Falls, New York, finishing in Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School. She married David Walter in 1970 in Niagara Falls, NY. Work related, they lived in Alaska, Vermont, State of Washington and later in Stone Mountain then Marietta, Georgia. With their interest in the arts and crafts, Rachael and David opened an Arts and Supplies store in Marietta where framing pictures was their special project. She loved the view from their large back porch where tending flowers and watching birds and squirrels were a special treat. Rachael was predeceased by her mother, Frances Louise Knab. She is survived by her husband, David; loving son, Jerold Walter of Atlanta, Georgia; her father, Wilfred and step-mother, Diana Watts Young of Niagara Falls, NY; and step-father, Donald Knab of Niagara Falls, NY; her sisters, Patricia (Steven) Hurd of Steinhatchee, Florida, Christine (Ronald) Grawe of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Judith (Samuel) Godwin of Hopkins, South Carolina, Janet (Michael) Neuman of Niagara Falls, NY; brothers, Charles (Christine) Young of Ashburn, Virginia, Kenneth Young of Sebring, Florida and Michael Young of Niagara Falls, NY; step-sisters, Bronwyn (Wayne) Bridges of Coldspring, Texas, Bette Lynn (Robert) Deshler of Niagara Falls, NY, Robert (Deborah) Watts of Hiram, Georgia, E. James Watts of Niagara Falls, NY; step-sisters Beth Knab of Niagara Falls, NY, Candace (Jay) Stillwell of Sylmar, California, Judy (Lou) Vona of Las Vegas, Nevada and Karen (Dick) Ludbrook of Tampa, Florida.     NIAGARA FALLS — Wilfred L. Young, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away, unexpectedly, on Friday, July 13, 2012, at his residence. Born on March 23, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Walker) Young.

    Mr. Young was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. Will, as he was known by family and friends, attended local schools and graduated from the former St. Mary's High School, as well as Buffalo State Teacher's College, where he earned his master's degree. Mr. Young also attended Niagara University and the University at Buffalo. Will served in the United States Army Air Force, during World War II, from July 8, 1943 until his honorable discharge on January 28, 1946. While serving he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal with five Bronze Stars. Mr. Young worked for the Niagara Falls Board of Education for 32 years, where he served as a teacher and principal, until his retirement in 1982. Will taught at 22nd Street School, Henry J. Kalfas School and Evershed School. He was principal at Pacific Avenue, Cleveland Avenue, 24th Street, 93rd Street and the Geraldine Mann Schools. Mr. Young also served as an assistant to the Director of Elementary Education. On July 9, 1977, Will married Diana R. (Smith) Watts Young.

    Mr. Young was a member of St. Mary of the Cataract Church in Niagara Falls, NY, the Flying Tigers, New York State Teachers Association, New York State Retired Teachers Association, Knights of Columbus Council #247, Niagara Falls Elks Lodge #346 and the American Legion Post #1142. Will served as Past-President of the Niagara Falls Principal's Council and the Niagara Falls School Masters Club. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, traveling and spending the winter months, with his wife, in Florida.

    In addition to his beloved wife of 35 years, Mr. Young is survived by seven children, Patricia (Stephen) Hurd of Florida, Christine (Ronald) Grawe of Tennessee, Charles (Christine) Young of Virginia, Kenneth Young of Buffalo, NY, Judith (Samuel) Godwin of South Carolina, Michael Young of Niagara Falls, NY, and Janet (Michael) Neuman of Niagara Falls, NY, and was predeceased by one daughter, Rachel (David of Georgia) Walter. Will is also survived by four step-children, Bronwyn (Wayne) Bridges of Texas, Bette-Lynn (Robert) Deshler of Niagara Falls, NY, Robert (Deborah) Watts of Georgia, and Edgar J. Watts, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances (late Henry)Foster of Whitehall, NY and Noreen (late Jack) Darlington of Florida, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and daughter, he was predeceased by his former spouse, Frances (Steele) Knab; two sisters, Dorothea (late William) Hill and Audrey (late Phillip) Goltz and two brothers, Joseph Young and Jerome Young.

    The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 7-9 PM and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007). Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 18th, at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 259-4th Street Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev.     Frances L. Steele-Knab, 75, of Niagara Falls, NY, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, after a short illness.

    She was born on October 4, 1929, in DuBois, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Francis L. and Agnes [ Wilson ] Steele. , she has been a resident of Western New York since 1942, living in Buffalo, Grand Island, Wilson and in Niagara Falls since 1961. Frances had worked as a pharmacy technician at Prescription Lab, for several years. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers.

    Survived by husband Donal J. Knab and sons Charles Joseph (Christine) Young of Ashbum, VA, Kenneth James Young of Lawtons, NY, Michael Jerome Young of Tucker, GA, and daughters Patricia Ann (Stephen) Hurd of Steinhatchee, FL, Christine Marie (Ronald) Grawe of Lewiston, NY, Rachael Jean (David) Walter of Marietta, GA, Judith Louise (Samuel) Godwin of Hopkins, SC, Janet Lynn (Michael) Neuman of Niagara Falls, NY, and step daughters Karen Marie (Richard) Ludbrook of Tampa, FL, Elizabeth Ellen Knab of Niagara Falls, NY, Judith Ann (Lou) Vona of Las Vegas, NV, and Candace Theresa (Edward Stilwell) Knab of Glendale, CA. She is also survived by loving grandchildren Jennifer Yund, Jerold Walter, Tracy Yund, Timothy Young, Angelica Rish, Ryan Hurd, Gail Filicetti, Stephanie Dubose, Travis Hurd, Steven Young, Samantha Godwin, Carl Neuman, Derek Neuman, Trina Neuman, Emily Neuman, and great grandchildren Elizabeth Raymond, Felicia Filicetti, D.J. Rish, Jodi Rish, Peter Filicetti, Marie Rish, Dimitri Dubose, Jacob Yund, and Samuel Rish.

    The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, LEWISTON, Cayuga and So. Ninth Streets, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM, Thursday, where funeral services will be held Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 AM, at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, with the Rev. Robert S. Hughson, officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Angels Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.

    Monday at the Hardison Funeral
    Home, Lewiston at a time
    to be announced. The Rev.
    Charles S|ratton. pastor of the
    Youngstown First United Presbyterian
    Church, will officiate.
    Burial will be in Niagara
    Falls Memorial Park Cemetery.
