1978) after a long illness.
A lifelong resident of the
Tonawandas, Mr. Schmeichel
was a Marine
Corps veteran of World
War I and was employed
at Spaulding Fibre CO..
for 35 years before
retiring in 1964. He was a
member of the Holy
Name Society at St.
Francis of Assisi
Church, Conrad Kanla
Detachment of the
Marine Corps League
and a life member of
Niagara Hose Company
No. 3-in Tonawanda.
He is survived by his
wife, Doris (nee Murphy)
Schmeiehel; a son,
Donald J. Schmeichel; a
daughter-in-law, Mrs.
Joyce Schmeichel and
two granddaughters,
Teresa and Tracy Schm
e i c h e l , all of
Tonawanda, a sister,
Mrs. William (Alice)
Collins of Buffalo and
many nieces and
nephews.
The family will be
present from 7-9 p.m.
Wednesday and 2-4 and
7-9 p.m. Thursday at the
Hamp Funeral Home,
Inc., Adam and Seymour
Sts., Tonawanda where
prayers will be said at 9
a.m., Friday followed by
a Mass of Christian
Burial at 9:30 a.m., at St.
Francis of Assisi
Church, the Rt. Rev.
Msgr. Ralph M. Miller
officiating. Interment
Elmlawn Cemetery. In

memorials to the
American Cancer
Society are preferred by

William A. Schmeichel. 59 years old, a well-known resident of this city, died at he home of his son. Albert Schmeichel of the Creek road. Martinsville, this morning after a lingering illness. He was born in Berlin, Germany. He had llved here nearly a half century He leaves five daughters. Mrs. Edward Batt, Mrs. William Callopy, Mrs. Charles Koelsch of Buffalo, Elisabeth Schmeichel of Bradford. Pa..and five sons, Albert. William. Edward and Charles Schmeichel of Tonawanda and Benjamin Schmeichel, a private now at Pharr, Tex. The funeral will be on Wednesday.

Wilhelm married EWIG, Bertha Ann about 1878 in Germany. Bertha was born in Nov 1858 in Germany; died on 28 Jun 1915 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Mrs. Bertha A. Schmeichel
Mrs. Bertha A. Schmeichel, 57 yeras old, wife of William Schmeichel of the Nash road, died yesterday afternoon at her home after a lingering illness. She was born in Germany and had lived here 32 years. Besides her husband, five daughters, Mrs. E. Batt, Mrs. W. Callopy, Mrs. Melville Helbron, the Misses Agnes and Elizabeth Schmeichel of North Tonawanda and five sons, Albert, William, Edward, Benjamin and Carl Schmeichel of North Tonawnada survive. The funeral will be held from the family home at 1:30 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon and a half hour later from the St. Matthew's church on Wheatfield street, Rev. Carl Frankenstein officiating. Burial will be made in St. Matthew's cemetery at Sawyers Creek.
