    Kenneth L. Wendt, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, NY. He was born in Sanborn, NY on January 21, 1934, the son of the late William B. and Grace E. (Wendt) Wendt.Ken graduated from North Tonawanda High School. He was a Seabee with the U.S. Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a painter with Lou Anastasi, with his brother, Donald, at Wendt's Gas and with Niagara Mohawk for several years. Ken started Ken Wendt's Propane Gas Service in Sanborn in 1968, which he continued to operate for the next 35 years. He was a State and National officer with the Seabee Veterans of America, a member of the Island X-8 Tonawanda Seabees and chairman of the Seabee Monument Committee on River Road. He was a member of the Sanborn Fire Co. for 58 years and a member of the Fire Companies Exempts, NYSFA. Ken was active in the Sanborn Community over the years as a member of the, Sanborn Lions Club, the Niagara Central Rotary Club and the Sanborn Historical Society. He will always be remembered, for his "Can Do" attitude. Ken is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dianne S. (Sawyer) Wendt; three sons, Mark K. (Maria) Wendt of Waldorf, MD, Paul R. (Susan) Wendt of Ransomville, NY and Todd W. (Emma) Wendt of Sanborn, NY; one daughter, Dana (Scott) Wendt- Vermilya of Arlington, MA; ten grandchildren, Janice, Joshua (Sara), Jacob, Trevor, Kyle (Megan), Kari (Richard) Jones, Kati, Diana, Kimberly and Eric; three great-granddaughters, Kyara, Savanna Jones and Emma; two brothers, Glenn ( Jean) Wendt and Forrest (late Gail) Wendt; a sister, Gracelyn (late John) Bilek; two sisters-in-laws, Norine and Darla Wendt; also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald (Dorothy), Marvin (Ruth), Bertram and William, Jr.The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The Seabee services will be held Saturday at 7:30 PM and the Sanborn Fire Co. services will be Sunday at 7:30 PM. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Luther Street and Niagara Road, Bergholtz, with the Rev. Philip N. Sallach officiating. Flowers gratefully declined.     Dianne S. Wendt, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015, in Northgate Manor, North Tonawanda, NY. She was born in Buffalo, NY, on December 12, 1935, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Margaret [Brison] Sawyer.

    Mrs. Wendt was a Registered Nurse at Buffalo General Hospital for many years. She later became the Vice President and secretary of Ken Wendt's Propane from August of 1968 until retiring in April of 1998. Mrs. Wendt was the President of X-Island Honeybees and the National Seebee President of the Honeybees. She was the first cheerleading coach at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Martinsville. Mrs. Wendt was the owner of Wendt's racing and was a avid dirt racing fan.

    She was the wife of the late Kenneth L. Wendt, who died in December of 2009, she along with her late sister were married in a double wedding on November 30, 1958. Mrs. Wendt is survived by three sons Mark K. (Maria) Wendt of Waldorf, MD, Paul R. (Susan) Wendt of Ransomville, NY and Todd W. (Emma) Wendt of Ransomville, NY, one daughter, Dana (Scott) Vermilya of Arlington, MA, ten grandchildren Janice, Joshua (Sara), Jacob, Trevor, Kyle (Megan), Kari (Richard) Jones, Kati (Richard) Keller, Diana, Kimberly and Eric, eight great grandchildren, one brother in law Larry Sibbet, also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Sandra Sibbet and Vicki Sawyer.

    The family will be present on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN,NY. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Ransomville Free Methodist Church, 3924 Ransomville Road, Ransomville, NY, with the Rev. William T. Lowery, Jr. officiating.

    Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in her name to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.

    (Nov. 29, 1971) in a Buffalo
    hospital after a long illness.
    Born in Detroit, Mich., he
    came to this village in 1901,
    operating a dairy farm here for
    many years.
    His father, the late William
    Wendt, tapped the first gas
    well in Niagara County in 1927,
    and in 1938 Mr. Wendt and his
    brothers began operating the
    Wendt Brothers Gas Co.
    The company supplied
    Sanborn residents with gas
    until 1956, when the franchise
    was sold to the Iroquois Gas
    Co.
    Mr. Wendt also worked for a
    time at the Buffalo Pump Co.
    as a machinist.
    A member of St. Paul's
    Evangelical Lutheran Church,
    North Tonawanda, he was an
    exempt member of. the Sanborn
    Volunteer Fire Co.
    He is survived by his widow
    Grace Wendt; seven sons,
    Donald Wendt of Niagara
    Falls, and Marvin, Bertrum,
    Glenn, Kenneth, Forrest and
    William B. Wendt Jr., and a
    daugher, Mrs.John(Gracellyn)
    Bilek, all of Sanborn.
    Also surviving are two
    brothers, Alton Wendt of
    Lockport and Arnold Wendt of
    Niagara Falls; a sister, Mrs.
    Benjamin (Laura) Walck Sr. of
    Sanborn, 25 grandchildren a/id
    four great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    at St. Paul's Evangelical
    Lutheran Church, North
    Tonawanda, Thursday at 2:30
    p.m., with the Rev. Matthew
    Pushkar officiating. Burial
    plans have not been completed.

    Pioneer Resident Is Laid to Rest
    SANBORN, Feb. 23-The funeral of William F. Wendt, 76, who died Saturday at his home in Saunder's (sic) Settlement road, was held from the home yesterday at 2:30 p. m. and at St. Peter's church, at Walmore, at 3 o'clock and was attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends.
    The bearers included: Ben Wendt, Philip Wendt, Robert Wendt, Edwin Beutel. Rudolph Beutel and William Beutel. Flower bearers were Donald Wendt, Merwyn (sic), Wendt, Ben Walck, Jr., and Lawrence Walck. The Rev. Edward A. Graubau (sic) was the officiating Clergyman. Interment was in St. Peter's cemetery, Walmore.

Jan 9, 1890 married to Wm. Wendt, who died Feb 19, 1938, had 5 children. Right after marriage, moved to Detroit Mich, there until 1901, then moved to present home of Alton Wendt, near Sanborn where she died. Jan. 3 lapsed into a coma and fell asleep Sun. morning Jan 7 (at) 3:25. Survivors: 3 sons, Alton and Wm. of Sanborn, Arnold of Bergholz; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ben Wendt Sr. of Sanborn and Mrs. Edna Walck of Median; 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Suffered from hardening of the arteries which it seems weakened her brain and affected her mind, this was already apparent about 15 yrs. ago, but was serious only in the past 6 yrs. or so. Was taken care of in home of her son Alton. Whole service was in Eng. Text: Is. 55:6-9

    The funeral of William Wendt was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late residence on Lockport avenue and a half an hour later at St. Paul's church in Martinsville. The services were conducted bv Rev. William T. Schmidt and were largely attended. Burial was in the St. Paul's cemetery. The pallbearers were: A. W. Babel, John Ziehl, August Martin, John Jagow, August Errick and Charles Fehrman, residents of Martinsville and the Town of Wheatfield.

    Mrs. Elizabeth Wendt, nee Maillefert, aged 83 years, died yesterday morning in her home, 692 Falls boulevard. Born in Buffalo, she had resided in North Tonawanda the past 22 years. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Reinhardt Ziemendorf of the town of Wheatfield, Mrs. Walter Strassburg and Miss Elizabeth Wendt of Niagara Falls, Mrs. William Wendt of the town of Cambria and Mrs. Vernon Steele of Kenmore; two sons, Edwin of Niagara Falls and Alvin at home; 19 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a sister, Miss Dorothy Maillefert of Cambria. Rites will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the residence and half an hour later at the St. Paul?s church, Martinsville, the Rev. F. A. Hinner officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul?s Cemetery.
