Funeral Services Held
For Mrs. Eleanor Bobzien
BURT, April 26 - Services were
held Saturday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Douglas Adams, Coomer
Rd., for Mrs. Eleanor. Bobzien
who died Thursday (April 21, 1955)
at Millard Fillmore: Hospital, Buffalo,
after a brief illness. She had
undergone, surgery Wednesday.
The Rev. James Wilson, McKee.
Rd., officiated. Burial was in Corwin
Cemetery, Newfape.
Mrs. Bobzien was a daughter
of the late Peter and Mary Lisman
Shafer, who resided in Ewings
Rd. She married William-F. Bobzcin
Feb. 29, 1900, and they took
up residence in Coomer- Rd.
Mr. Bobzien died several years
ago. Mrs. Bobzien later took up
residence with a daughter, Mrs.
Lester Mayer, McClew Rd„ and
then with Mrs. Adams another
daughter,
. She was a member of the Intercommunity
Memorial Hospital,
Newfane.
. In addition to Mrs. Adams and
Mrs. Mayer she is survived by another
daughter; Mrs. Howard
Mayer, all of Burt;-two sons Lester
Bobzien, Gasport, and William
Burdette Bobzien, Ashtabula, Ohio;
a brother. Clarence Shafer, Corfu;
10 grandchikircrn. and two great
grandchildren.

Eleanor married BOBZIEN, William F on 28 Feb 1900. William (daughter of BOBZIEN, Fred and Theresa) was born in Oct 1873 in New York; died on 30 Dec 1942 in Burt, Niagara County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

NEWFANE, Feb. 9-Among outstanding
social events was the marriage
of Miss Seva Eleanor Bobzien,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
F. Bobzien, Coomer road to Lester
Albert Mayer, son of Albert Mayer
of Sanborn, uniting two well known
families and early Niagara settlers.
The ceremony was performed at
two o'clock Saturday afternoon, February
4, in the First Baptist church,
Newfane village, with the Rev.
Artemas P. Goodwin, minister, officiating.
Upwards of 250 guests attended.
The church auditorium was
decorated in profusion with spring
flowers. The altar was banked with
tall palms, roses, sweetpeas, snapdragons,
mignonette and lillies ln
pastel shades, arranged ln baskets.
The ushers were Edward Mayer,
Sanborn, groom's brother and Burdette
Bobzien, Coomer road, Newfane,
bride's brother.
Miss Maisie Flynn, Newfane, presented
nuptial music at the organ,
playing the "Alpine Love Story." by
Petrie and Carrie Jacob Bond's*
Love You Truly," which served as
the wedding march and musical
theme during the entire ceremony,
The bride given by her father was
gowned in heavy white satin, fashioned
with a long full-length skirt
forming a bodice effect, and draped
on the left side with white satin
roses with valley lilies. Her embroidered
tulle veil was caught with
orange blossoms and folded gracefully,
forming a long train. She
wore white satin slippers and white
gloves and carried a shower bouquet
of white bride rosses, touched with
pale yellow and delicate pink, tied
with white tulle and satin.
Miss Neva Eleanor Bobzien of
Buffalo, the bride's twin sister, was
maid of honor. She was gowned ln a
lovely heavy beige crepe.
Mrs. Bobzien, the bride's mother,
wore a handsome black and white
gown of crepe, with a belt of several
strings of pearl beads. The
bride's sister. Miss Ruth Bobzien of
Sherburne, N. Y., also was in a
black crepe. Mrs. Lester Bobzien, a
sister-in-law, wore an emerald green
crepe with puff sleeves of velvet.
Howard William Mayer of San
born, a cousin, was the best man.
At the close of the ceremony 125
guests were received at the home of
the bride, where a lovely reception
was held.
The house decorations were siml
la r to those of the church.
14 As Bride's Table.
Fourteen guests were seated at the
bride's table, which was covered with
a linen cloth and set with rose
crystal, centered with a four-tier
wedding cake of white and decorated
with white rose*. Each table was
also decorated in pink and white,
centered with spring flowers. The
places marked with favors of pink.
At the bride's table were seated
Mr. and Mrs. William F. Bobzien.
the Misses Neva Eleanor and Ruth
Bobzien, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bobzien,
Burdette Bobzien, Albert
Mayer, May Mayer, Edward and
Howard Mayer, and the Rev. Artemas
P. Goodwin.
After a three course chicken dinner
was served the guests enjoyed
music and cards. Guests were received
from Illinois, Buffalo, Niagara
Falls, Sanborn, Wilson, Newfane
and vicinity, Burt and vicinity,
Lockport, Olean, Corfu, Sherburne,
and Ransomville.
Mr. and Mrs. Mayer left for a
motor trip t o Washington, D. C , the
bride wearing a traveling gown of
midnight blue crepe with beaded
embroidered sleeves forming puffs,
and the neckline and yoke of beads.
She wore a black hat and black
wrap with fox collar. Mr. and Mrs.
Mayer will be at home on the
Coomer road Newfane about March
1.
The gift of the groom to his bride
was a crystal necklace set in silver.
The gift of the bride to her twin
sister, who is a nurse in the Millard-
Fillmore hospital, Buffalo, gold
cuff links; to the organist, Miss
Maisie Flynn, a purse of gold. Gifts
were also presented to attendants
during the reception. The best man
was presented with a gold pen
knife and the ushers were given
ties.
Se bride received many handgifts
which were attractively
displayed. Among the pre-nuptial
affairs, Mrs. Lester Bobzien, sisterin-
law entertained at a largely attended
shower and the Busy Bee
class of the First Baptist church,
Newfane, of which Mrs. Mayer is a
member, entertained in the home of
the Misses Eleanor and Mildred
Kurtz at a shower.
