    Evelyn (Becker) Overhiser, 96, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at her residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born on February 24, 1913 in Chesley, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late William and Pauline (Schul) Becker. On June 28, 1939 she married James M. Overhiser. He predeceased her on March 2, 2003.Mrs. Overhiser came to Niagara Falls, NY, with her family, at the age of six months. Evelyn attended local schools and graduated from Broughton Business School. From 1963 until 1972 she worked as a library aide at Niagara-Wheatfield High School. Mrs. Overhiser was a member of Colonial Village Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School, served as an Elder and was a member of their choir. Mrs. Overhiser was an accomplished artist. Evelyn was a recipient of many awards while participating in various art shows. She was a former member of the Studio Group. Mrs. Overhiser also taught flower arranging. Evelyn received many awards in the New York District Eight Flower Shows. She was a charter member of the Colonial Village Garden Club. Mrs. Overhiser is survived by two children, Vicki (John) Fuerch of Lewiston, NY and Shelia (Doug) Paxton of Windsor, CO; three grandchildren, Janene Fuerch of Buffalo, NY, Brooke Paxton of Windsor, CO and Bradley (fiancé Karrie Doll) Paxton of Lockport, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was predeceased by three sisters and one brother. There will be no prior visitation. Private burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements were entrusted to the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY (297-9007).     A quiet but lovely wedding took
    place yesterday morning at the
    Zion Lutheran church where Miss
    Evelyn e. Becker, daughter of Mrs.
    Pauline becker, of Ontario avenue,
    became the bride of Mr. James M.
    Overhiser, of Ontario avenue, son
    of Mr. and Mrs. A. Overhiser, of
    Beaver Dams, N.Y. The Rev. G. F.
    Hoyer officiated at the ceremony.

    The bride wore a becoming gown
    of white lace with large puffed
    sleeves, the bodice made with a
    square neckline. With this she
    wore a large white hat. Her corsage
    was of gardenias, sweet peas
    and baby's breath.
    Miss Marie Becker, sister of the
    bride and her maid of honor, wore
    a lace gown of delicate rose fashioned
    with fitted waist and puffed
    sleeves. A white picture hat and
    white accessories completed her
    costume. Her flowers were arranged
    in a corsage of pink rosebuds, sweet
    peas and delphinium.
    Mr. Hollls R. Hardlson, of this
    city, was the groom's best man.
    The mother of the bride wore a
    white suit with white accessories.
    Immediately after the ceremony
    a wedding breakfast for 11 persons
    was held at the Samovar.
    Mr. and Mrs. Overhiser left later
    on an extended motor trip to the
    Thousand Islands, New York City,
    where they will attend the World's
    Fair, and to several places of Interest
    In New York state.
