    One of this city's most popular
    bartenders, John E. Bodkin died
    yesterday afternoon in Mt. St.
    Mary's Hospital at the age of 62.
    A bartender of the pre-prohibtion
    era, he had been employed at the
    Bon Ora Hotel at the time of his
    death.
    A native of Holly, he came to
    this city in 1902 He helped organize,
    draw up the charter and was
    a past president of the local bartenders'
    union and was a member
    of Niagara Falls Lodge 346,
    BPOE for 30 years.
    Among his other places of employment
    was Burnside's Turf
    Lounge. At one time he owned
    and operated Bodkin's Grill in
    3rd St..
    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cecilia
    Bodkin; a daughter, Mrs.
    George Trader, and two sons, Edward
    J. and William P. Bodkin, all
    of this city, and two step-children,
    Mrs. Lee Knapp, Dearborn, Mich.,
    and Edward Wolfe, Buffalo and a
    sister, Mrs. Margaret Schwartz,
    this city; five grandchildren also
    survive.
    Memorial services will be held
    by the Elks tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
    and funeral services are scheduled
    for the Rhoney Funeral Home,
    1124 Ontario Ave., Saturday at
    8:15 a.m. and at St. Mary's Church
    at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in
    Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

    Nicholas Bodkin, a worthy and lifelong
    citizen of Holley, died at the residence
    of his mother Friday evening,
    March 21, after a lingering illness.
    Mr. Bodkin was 42 years of age, and
    leaves to mourn his loss a wife and
    six children; also a mother; two
    brothers and two sisters, Charles H.
    Bodkin, of New York City; Christo-
    pher Bodkin, of Ava, N. Y,; Mrs.
    Wm O'Brien and Mrs. T, F. Fitzgerald,
    of Holley, Mr. Bodkin was buried
    from St. Mary's Catholic church
    of this village, of which he was a
    member, the pastor, Rev. Father
    Noonan, officiating.

    A. J. Bissell returned last week from
    Niagara Falls after attending the;
    funeral of Mrs. Catherine Bodkin of
    that city.

    The funeral of Mrs. Catherine L.
    Bodkin was held yesterday from the
    home of her son. William Bodkin. 2209
    Ontario avenue, and the Sacred
    Heart church. Father Leo Glynn
    was Hie celebrant of the requiem
    mass at the church. Mrs. Bodkin,
    who was 63 years old, had lived here
    for 30 years, before which time she
    had lived In Hawley, . New York.
    Following the-services here the body
    was taken to Hawley for burial. The
    Rt. Rev, Father Burke of Hawley,
    conducted a prayer service at the
    grave. The bearers were William
    Crlppen,- George Dowd, Charles
    Fisher. ° John Lammerts. Edward
    Fairchild and Joseph Carlo,
