2. | ZURBRICK, Albert was born on 17 Aug 1859 in Town of Cheektowaga, Erie County, NY (son of ZURBRICK, Philip and Fanny); and died. Notes:
I ran across this today in the History of Clarence.
ALBERT ZURBRICK was born on August 17, 1859 in the Town of Cheektowaga. IN 1874, his father Phillipp Zurbrick, erected the first flour mill in Cheektowaga and it was while working with his father that Albert learned all the details of milling. On May 18, 1892 he married Maltilda Sommer of Cheektowaga. They had five children, Anges M., Ella D., Ansley A., Emily H., and Isabel (Outlaw) Zurbrick.
In 1900, Mr. Zuerbrick moved to Clarence Center and built a mill of his own where he not only dealt in grain and flour but did custom grinding for this section of the county. In 1920, he sold his mill to John Ebersole.
Cheektowaga is the first suburb east of Buffalo, Erie Co. NY Cheektowaga is pronounced Chicktowaga by the natives. The old Ebersole mill as we knew it was active when we moved to Clarence Center 44 years ago and wen through some changes including a restaurant then was torn down perhaps 10 years ago for a housing development.
