    Sparling, 71, of 1831 Weston Aye,,
    will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday
    at the Gridley Funeral Home.
    Mr. Sparling died yesterday (Feb.
    24, 1956) at the Memorial Hospital
    after a two years1 illness.
    A native of Brussels, Ont., Mr.
    Sparling bad resided in this city
    for 70 years. A bricklayer by
    trade, he had worked in local construction
    until he retired two years
    ago because of ill health. He was
    a member bf the Niagara Falls
    Bricklayers Union No. 2, AFL for
    52 yean. , .
    He was a past grand of Belle'vut
    Lodge No. 316 IOOF and a member
    of the Frontier Encampment
    No. 99, IOOF. The lodge will-hold
    a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
    Monday at the funeral home.
    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida
    M. Sparling; four sons, Thomas L.
    and Raymond E. Sparling, this city,
    Eiwood B. Sparling, Lewiston, and
    Kenneth Jr. Sparling, Santa Monica,
    Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert C.
    Witmer, this city; two sisters, Mrs.
    William Newman, this city, and
    Mn. Perry Chambers, Newfane;
    and four grandchildren. '-

    after a long illness.
    Born in Model City, she
    had lived in Niagara Falls
    for 75 years. She was past
    worthy high priestess of Messiah
    Shrine No. 18 White
    Shrine of Jerusalem, p a st
    noble grand of Rosebud Rebekah
    Lodge No. 20, Flagler
    Chapter No. 355, OES, and
    Niagara Court, No. 30 of the
    Order of Amaranth, and Aziza
    Zuanna No. 9.
    Surviving are one daughter,
    Mrs. Robert (Betty) Witmer,
    of this city; four sons,
    Thomas L. Sparling, Raymond
    B. Sparling, both of this city;
    Kenneth F. Sparling, Santa
    Monica, Calif.; El w o o d B.
    Sparling, Lewiston; six grandchildren
    and a great grandchild.
    Funeral services will be

    at the Gridley Funeral

    of one of the frontier's
    pioneer families, died today at his
    home, 01 A street, after being In
    poor health for a number of years.
    He was the son of the late
    George A. and Rosia Fleck Franklin,
    members of a family which
    operated the old Franklin house atthe
    south end of the city for a number
    of years. I
    He was a retired operator of the
    Niagara-Falls Power-company. Active
    In Republican political circles
    for a number of years, he was a
    former' supervisor of the Fourteenth
    ward. He was a member of the
    Niagara Falls Exempt Firemen's
    association.
    , Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
    Amalia Franklin;- a son, James A.
    Franklin, Toledo, O.; a daughter.
    Mrs. Elwood B. Sparling, this city,
    three grandchildren, and a nephew.
