    WATERTOWN-Robert J. Havens,
    Jr., 54, of Lane Road, formerly of Utica,
    died Sunday after an automobile accident
    near Henderson. He suffered multiple
    injuries and was pronounced dead
    on arrival at Mercy Hospital.
    Mr. Havens attended Utica schools
    and was employed by Tar Mac Inc.,
    Utica, until 1957, when he moved to
    Evans Mills, where he was employed by
    the Northern Asphalt and Tar Co. until
    1973. He then formed the Upstate Tar
    and Asphalt Co. with his son, Robert J.
    Havens III, and was president of that
    corporation.
    He leaves his mother, Mrs. Mary E.
    Andrews of Utica, his son Robert, Watertown,
    and a daughter, Mrs. John
    (Patricia) Spina, Ashville.
    The funeral was held Wednesday
    from the Hart-Johnston Funeral Home
    here, with burial in Brookside Cemetery.

    Ruth E. Havens O'Dowd, of 333
    Genesee St.. died October 25, 1985. in
    St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
    She was born in Utica. daughter of
    Richard and Mary Hughes. She was
    educated in Utica Schools and had
    resided here all of her life. She was
    the owner of the Green Lantern
    Restaurant on Oneida Square for the
    past 20 years. She had also cooked forthe
    former Cavallo Restaurant and
    had worked at Twin Ponds and other
    local restaurants. She married Raymond
    O'Dowd in 1970.
    She leaves, besides her husband, a
    daughter and son-in-law. Patricia A.
    and John R. Spina, of Ashville, NY.;
    four sisters. Mary Kneller. Fanny
    Weidon. Margaret Vivyan and Jane
    Kelsey: two brothers. John Hughes
    and David Hughes, both of N.J.: three
    grandchildren. Tammy Baldwin. Licia
    Spina and Marcy Spina. She was
    predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline
    Havens, in 1960.
    A memorial service will be held
    Monday, at 2 p.m.. at the Maynard
    Methodist Ch«ch. Maynard Drive,
    Marc^4«-heu of flowers, it is respectsuggested
    that donations may be
    made to the American Cancer Society.
    Cremation took place at Waterville.
    N.Y. Arrangements are by The
    Doyle Funeral Home.
