    A lovely summer wedding was
    solemnized Wednesday June 7

    7:30 p.m. in the Niagara United
    Presbyterian church when Miss
    Betty Alcorn, daughter of Mr. and
    Mrs. H. R. Alcorn, of the Military
    road, this city, became the bride of
    First Class Petty Officer William
    G. Dugan, ARM, of ,lhe United
    States Navy, son of Mr, and Mrs.:
    Wm. Dugan of Liberty avenue, this
    city, with the Rev. Wm.' Harper
    officiating. Preceding the ceremony
    Mrs. Wm. Harper rendered
    musical selections Including "Because"
    and "Llebestraum."
    The bride, who was given In mar-
    riage by her father, entered the
    church to the strains of Lohengrin's
    Bridal Chorus and was beautiful
    in a gown of gleaming white
    satin, fashioned with fitted bodice
    and sweetheart neckline. The long
    fitted sleeves ended in points over
    the wrists. Her full net skirt ended
    in a long graceful train. Her
    shoulder-length veil of Illusion net
    fell from a coronet of seeded pearls.
    She wore a gold lavaliere belonging
    to her mother and carried a white
    prayerbook with two large orchids
    and white streamers.
    Miss Verna Alcorn, sister of the
    bride, as maid of honor, wore a
    gown of delicate rose marquisette
    with a fitted torso sweetheart neckline
    and three-quarters-length
    sleeves. She wore a single strand
    of pearls and carried an arm bouquet
    of pink carnations, bachelor
    buttons and pink roees tied with
    blue satin ribbon. Her small cap
    and shoulder-length veil matched
    her gown.
    Miss Gloria Dugan; sister of the
    bridegroom; Miss Vera Bond, cousin
    or the bride, and Miss Elsie
    Tilley were gowned In peach, green
    and blue marquisette, respectively.
    Their gowns were fashioned alike
    with round necklines and threequarters-
    length sleeves. Each wore
    a matching calot and veil and a
    single strand ot pearls and carried
    an arm bouquet of roses and marguerites.
    .
    Miss'Shirley Alcorn snd Miss
    Lara Dugan, as junior bridesmaids,
    wore gowns of blue and pink velveray,
    respectively. They carried
    colonial bouquets.
    The best man was Second Class
    Petty Officer Gordon Townsend,
    ARM of the U.S. Navy. The ushers
    were Mr. Clark R. Verner, Mr.
    Carl Dachton and Mr. John Bentley.
    The mother of the bride wore a

    street-length gown of. powder blue
    with white accessories and the
    mother of the bridegroom wore a
    gown of dusty rose with tan acces-
    sorles. Both wore corsages of gar-
    denias.
    A reception was held at the home
    of the bride immediately after the
    ceremony. The table was centered
    with a three-tiered wedding cake
    topped by a miniature bride and
    sailor.
    The bride and bridegroom have
    left to make their home in Cali-
    fornia, where the bridegroom is sta-
    tioned at present. The bride trav-
    eled in an orchid suit with match-
    ing hat and white accessories and
    wore a corsage of orchids.

    united in marriage at a ceremony June 7 at the Niagara United Presbyterian,
    church, town of Niagara, The bride, the former Miss Betty
    Loraine Alcorn, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Alcorn, of
    Military road. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs, William.
    Dugan, of Liberty avenue. They are now making their home in California,
    where the bridegroom is now stationed.

    Halvin R. Alcorn, 72, of 3721
    Military Road, Town of Niagara,
    died Wednesday (March 16,
    1966) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital
    after a short illness.
    He was a native of Salina,
    Pa., and came to this city when
    he was 16. He lived most of his
    life in theTownof Niagara,
    life in the Town of Niagara.
    COurter Printing, and later at
    the Wahl Printing and Binding
    Co. for 10 years before joining
    Moore Business Forms Inc. He
    worked there for 25 years and
    retired in 1958 as a compositor.
    Mr. Alcorn worked at the
    Highland Avenue plant and then
    at the Lockport plant when it
    opened.
    Served as Justice
    He was a justice of the peace
    in the Town of Niagara from
    1930 to 1942, and he was known
    around the town as "the judge."
    Mr. Alcorn was a member of
    the Town of Niagara Board of
    Education. He served on the
    school board for 12 years, and
    during that time the Military
    Road Elementary School was
    built.
    He also served as a Republican
    committeeman in the 1920s
    and 1930s.
    Mr. Alcorn was an instructor
    of printing at Trott Vocational
    High School from. 1945 to 1949.
    He was a member of Niagara
    Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 and a
    member of the Niagara Falls
    Typographical Union 233.

    Survivors include his wife,
    Gertrude M.; three daughetrs.

    Niagara; Mrs. William G. (Betty)
    Dugan, San Diego, Calif.,
    and Mrs. William H. (Shirley)
    Strasburg, Town of Wheatfield;
    three brothers, Clyde M. Alcorn,
    this city; MauriceBichler,
    this city, and Chris Bichler,
    North Tonawanda; three sisters,
    Mrs. Laura Ashcroft, Albuquerue,
    N.M.; Mrs. Francis (Mary)
    Mills, this city, and Mrs. Melvin
    (Genevieve) Smith, Randolph;
    and six grandchildren.
    Service Saturday
    Funeral services will be conducted
    at the Rhoney Funeral
    Home Inc., at 2 p.m. Saturday
    by the Rev. Paul R. Swank,
    pastor of Zion Lutheran Church.
    Burial will be in Memorial Park
    Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the funeral
    home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
    and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
    Friday.

    Wednesday (Sept. 9, 1970) after
    a two-year illness.
    A resident of the Town of
    Niagara, she was active most
    of her life In town affairs.
    She was the widow of Halvin
    R. Alcorn, who died in 1966.
    He was a former peace justice
    in the Town of Niagara and a
    civic leader.
    ° She was a member of Zion
    Lutheran Church, the past Mar
    tha Society at the church, the
    Niagara-Wheatfield Senior Citizens,
    a charter member of the
    Niagara No. 3 Community Club,
    and the Ladies Auxiliary of the
    Niagara No. 1 Fire Co.
    Survivors include three daughters,
    Verna E. Alcorn of Town
    of Niagara, Mrs. William H,
    (Shirley) Strasburg of Town of
    Wheatfield and Mrs. William G.
    (Betty) Dugan of Norfolk, Va.;
    a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin
    of this city, six grandchildren
    and three great-granddaughters.
    Funeral services will be held
    at the Rhoney Funeral Home
    Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev.
    Ivan L. Lange, vice pastor of
    Zion Lutheran Church, officiating.
    Burial will be in Memorial
    Park Cemetery.

    Wednesday for Sarah Bichler. 79,
    of 2927 North Ave., who died at
    Memorial Hospital Saturday.
    Mrs. Bichler, who suffered a
    heart attack two days previous to
    her death, would have celebrated
    her 51st wedding anniversary on
    May 11. She was born in Paradise,
    Pa.
    She is survived by her husband,
    George Bichler; four sons, Halvin
    Alcorn, Clyde Alcorn and Chris
    Bichler of this city and Morris
    Bichler of North Tonawanda; four
    daughters, Mrs. Charles Bechtel,
    Mrs. Francis Mills of this city; Mrs.
    Lewis MacKenzie, Sinclairville,
    and Mrs. Frank Ashcroft, Sebastien,
    Fla.; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-
    grandchildren.
    Services will be held at the
    Rhoney Funeral Home on Wednes-
    day at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Vernon
    Squire, assistant pastor of Zion
    Evangelical Church, of which she
    was a member. Interment will be
    in Witmer Cemetery.
