    Joseph A. Gancasz, Jr. 78, of North Tonawanda, passed away, Saturday (June 26, 2021) at home. Joseph was Born in North Tonawanda on July 18, 1942 to Joseph A. and Bernice (Dworzanski) Gancasz. Joseph was a veteran of the United States Air force, former employee of Durez Plastics, retired from the DOT for New York State, member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Holy Name Society, Dom Polski Club, Crosby American Legion Post #976. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and spent time at his camp in Crosby, PA with his wife, children and grandchildren.
    Mr. Gancasz is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Diane R. (Soos) Gancasz, loving father of Mark (Kathryn) Gancasz, Deborah Leible, and Paul (Kristy) Gancasz, grandfather of Henry Jack, Franklin Joseph, and Lexi Rae, also surviving are 3 nephews, two great nieces, one great nephew, and many cousins.
    Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 9:30 A.M. from Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Oliver and Center, North Tonawanda, NY. Flowers gratefully declined if desired memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

    Diane R. (Soos) Gancasz, 77, of North Tonawanda, passed away, January 6, 2022 in Buffalo General Hospital, Diane experienced complications associated with an outpatient procedure. Diane was born in North Tonawanda on October 30, 1944 to Edward Soos and Frances (Lukasik)  Gawrys. Diane was a Teacher's Aide at Niagara Orleans Boces, a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, member of John Berg Memorial American Legion Post #976 nicknamed the Crosby Legion. In her spare time she loved to travel, going to the casino, spending time with family and friends, Crosby Camp, she loved being a grandmother, and enjoyed her close group of friends. 
     Diane was the wife of 54 years to the late Joseph A. Gancasz, Jr. , loving mother of Mark (Kathryn) Gancasz, Deborah Leible, and Paul (Kristy) Gancasz, sister of Roberta (Tony) Gennaro, grandmother of Henry Jack, Franklin Joseph, and Lexi Rae, also surviving are 3 nephews, Dave (Mary) Breier, who was like a "son", great aunt of Amanda, Megan and Nick, and many cousins.

    SOOS – Edward Soos, 64, of Tonawanda, Friday (March 21, 1980) at DeGraff Memorial Hsopital. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, Mr. Soos was a member of Sweeney Hose Co. No. 7 and North Tonawanda Firemen’s Benevolent Association. He was a former employee of Buffalo Pumps.

    He is survived by his wife, Onnolee (nee Russell) Rae Soos; two daughters, Mrs. David (Roberta) Brier and Mrs. Joseph (Diane) Gancasz, both of North Tonawanda; two stepsons, Robert (Doris) Rae of North Tonawanda and Donald (Kathleen) Rae of Tonawanda; four brothers, Alex (Ann) Soos, Albert Soos, James (Myra) Soos, all of North Tonawanda and Nick (Jean) Soos of Baltimore, Md., four sisters, Mrs. Allen (Ann) Rathwell of Batavia, Mrs. William (Rose) Silvis of St. Regis Falls, N.Y., Mrs. Hilda Kennedy and Mrs. Marion Kell, both of North Tonawanda; grandfather of 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Friends may call Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Wattengel Funeral Home, Inc., 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m., the Rev. Daniel Richter officiating. Burial Elmwood Cemetery.

    Stephen Soos, Sr.

    Stephen Soos, Sr., 69, of 188 Robinson street, died yesterday at the Meyer Memorial hospital, Buffalo. Born in Hungary, he had resided in North Tonawanda the past 35 years. He leaves his wife, Rose; seven sons, Stephen, Jr., Albert, Alexander, Edward and James of North Tonawanda, Louis, who is attached to the Merchant Marine, and Nicholas of the Coast Guard; four daughters, Mrs. Allen Rathwell, Mrs. Francis Kennedy, Mrs. Charles Kell of Buffalo and Mrs. Neal Spencer of New York city; 11 grandchildren, a brother and two sisters of Hungary. Rites will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the residence, the Rev. Hermann Miller officiating. Burial will be in the City cemetery.

    SOOS – Roza Soos, 80, of 184 Schenck St., North Tonawanda, died Friday (Aug. 17, 1962). Born in Austria-Hungary, she had lived in North Tonawanda 56 years. She was the wife of the late Stephen Soos, and is survived by six sons, Louis of San Francisco, Calif., Albert, Alex, Edward and James of North Tonawanda and Nick of Baltimore, Md,; four daughters, Mrs. Allen Rathwell of Batavia, N.Y., Mrs. Norman Limburg and Mrs. Francis Kennedy, both of Buffalo, and Mrs. Charles Kell of Tonawanda. Seventeen grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Soos was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Lodge. Friends may call at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St., where services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. L. S. Bugbee officiating. Burial in Elmlawn Cemetery.

    LUKASIK-Frank Lukasik, of 153 Eighth Ave., North Tonawanda, died in DeGraff Memorial Hospital Sunday (June 19, 1960) after a short illness. Born in Poland, he had resided in North Tonawanda for the past 45 years. He was employed at The Wurlitzer Co. and was a member of Local 350, IUE (AFL-CIO), and of St. Joseph's Society PRCU 436. Survivors include his wife, Mary (nee Zielinski); two daughters, Mrs. Frances Soos and Mrs. Frank (Jean) Jehrio; two sons, John F. and Frank; and 14 grandchildren, all of North Tonawanda; one sister in Poland. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 9:30 in Niagara Memorial Chapel, 549 Oliver St., and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. The Rev. Vincent L. Cyman will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet.
