    NORTH TONAWANDA, Feb. 18.-
    Gcorge F. Tessmer, 45 years old
    former Buffalo mall carrier, died Fri-
    day night at his home on the Ward
    road following a brief Illness. Born
    in Germany, Tessmer camo to Buffalo
    at the age of five. He was employed
    as a mall carrier In that city for fif-
    teen years before removing to North
    Tonawanda nine years ago. He still
    retained his membership In Letter
    Carriers' association in Buffalo.
    Surviving are a wife. Matilda L.
    a son. Raymond; a daughter. Evelyn,
    two sisters, Mrs. Fred Nagel of North
    Tonawanda and Mrs, George W.
    Frary of Buffalo. The funeral.will be
    held Monday afternoon at 2:30
    o'clock from the residence, Rev. H. A.
    Depfer of theThird Presbyterian

    church officiating. Burial will be at
    Elmlawn:

    of North Tonawanda,
    Wednesday (April 26,
    1978) at DeVeaux Manor
    Nursing Home after a
    lengthy illness. Mrs.
    Tessmer was a member
    of the Dickersonville
    Methodist Church.
    She is survived by her
    daughter, Mrs. Fred
    (Evelyn) Trapp of
    Ransomville; a son,
    Raymond G. Tessmer of
    Springfield, N.J.; two
    grandchildren; two
    great-grandchildren and
    several nieces and
    nephews.
    The family will receive
    friends at the Fretthold
    Funeral Home, Inc., 1241
    Oliver St., at Ward Rd.,
    North Tonawanda this
    evening from 7 to 9 and
    Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
    p.m. Services will be held
    at the funeral home
    Friday at 11 a.m., the
    Rev. Arthur O. Northrup
    will officiate. Interment
    Elmlawn Cemetery

    August Bartel. eighty-two years old
    a veteran of three wars in Germany
    died last night at his home on the Ruie
    lead after a lingering illness. Mr.
    Bartel was born In Germany. He
    fought with the troops of that country
    in the wars of 1864. 1866 and 1870. He
    came to America and took up his rest
    fence in North Tonawanda forty-one
    years ago. He had lived here since.
    Surviving are three sons, Fredinand
    Bartel of Tonawanda. Gustav J. Bartel
    of North Tonawanda and William F.
    Bartel of Los Angeles: two daughters.
    Mis. John Pankow of Buffalo and
    Mrs. George Tessmer of North Tonawana
    a; twenty-seven grandchildren,
    ten gieat grandchildren and one'sis-
    Mrs. Justine Demler ot North
    Tonawanda. The funeral will be held
    Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at
    the late residence and half an hour
    later at the St. Paul's church. Martinsville.
    Rev. D. H. Steffens officiating
    Burial will Be in the St. Paul's ceme
    tary.
