    BANTA

    Thomas A., passed away at his
    home Coomer Rd., Newfane, Jan.
    5, 1943. He is survived by his wife,
    Gratia M., two sons and one
    daughter, Thomas R., John S. and
    Barbara Banta. Two brothers,
    George J. and the late Dr. Charles
    W. Banta. He was the son of the
    late Dr. Roland Banta. Funeral
    services will be conducted from
    his late home Thursday at 1 o'clock.
    Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery,
    Buffalo at 3 o'clock. Flowers
    gratefully declined.

    NEWFANE - Postmaster in
    Newfane for 10 years, Thomas A.
    Banta, 58. was found dead In a
    chair in his Coomer Road home at
    3 o'clock this morning. Relatives
    said Mr. Banta was in apparent
    good health Monday but had been
    under a physician's cart for several
    weeks.
    His wife, Mrs. Gratia Madden
    Banta, and a son, Thomas R. Banta,
    said they retired about 10
    o'clock, leaving Mr. Banta reading
    in' a chair m the living room. At
    3 o'clock the son awakened and
    found his father dead.
    - Mr. Banta, a native of Buffalo,
    was the son of the late Dr. Rollin
    L. and Sarah Ayer Banta. After
    attending the University of Michigan.
    University of Buffalo and
    Michigan Military Academy, Mr.
    Banta became a farmer on the

    Coomer Road In 1915. During
    World War I he was captain of the
    Newfane Home Defense Reserve.
    He wag appointed postmaster by
    President Roosevelt In 1933. He
    was a member of Newfane Lodge
    947 FAM and Alpha Delta Phi fraternity
    at the University of Michigan.
    Other survivors include a son,
    John S. Banta. attending Cornell
    University; a daughter. Miss Barbara
    Banta, Delray Beach, Fla.:
    and a brother, George J. Banta,
    Conewango Valley. He was a
    brother of the late Dr. Charles W.
    Banta. a Buffalo physician lor 40
    years.
    Services will be held at the home
    at 1 o'clock Thursday with burial
    at 3 o'clock in Forest Lawn Ceme-
    tery, Buffalo.

    Funeral services were held Monday
    afternoon for Dr. Rollin L.
    Banta from the home of his son,
    Thomas A. Banta of Coomer road,
    Newfane, where he died last Friday
    evening, following several weeks'
    illness. The Rev. Artemas P. Goodwin
    of the First Baptist church officiated,
    and the bearers Included
    Harry Welch, Ashley Gale, Stewart
    Moot and George C. Urban. Burial
    took place at Forest Lawn cemetery
    In Buffalo.
