    Notes:

    Florence L. Moden, of Medina, entered into rest on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the age of 95.
    Born December 19, 1925 in the Town of Hartland, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Coulson) Giertz. She married the late Walter Moden. Mrs. Moden worked in canning factories in Lyndonville and Middleport and finally worked for Niagara Foods. She was a longtime parishioner of the United Methodist Church in Medina, currently the Grove United Methodist Church. An active community member, Mrs. Moden also served on the Home Bureau and was a lifelong member of the Ridgeway Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing needle point.
    Predeceased by her husband, Walter Moden in 1976; sons, George, Wayne and Jay Moden; and siblings, Alice, Roy, Mary, Mildred and Edward “Dean”, Jr.
    Survivors include six children, Janice (late Stanley) Gillmeister, Karl (Susan) Moden, Sharon (late Larry) Farrow, Beverly Nudd, Paul Moden and Scott (Roxanne) Moden; twenty-six grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 27th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Grove United Methodist Church, 11004 W. Center St., Medina, with her funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Larry Eastlack will officiate and interment will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery, Lockport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grove United Methodist Church at the address above. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.

    The marriage of Miss Florence Giertz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Edward Giertz or the Settlement Road, and Walter I, Moden of Hartland was quietly solemnized Saturday evening in the Hartland Methodist Church. At 7 o'clock the bridal party entered the church to the strains of the Lohengrin Weddlng March rendered by Mrs. Floyd Cothran of Orangeport. The Rev.Lyle S. Owen performed the service In the presence of the immediate families and a few friends.The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a powder blue crepe dress of street length, with matching blue felt hat. She wore a shoulder corsage of pink roses and white carnations. Her sister Mrs Albert Kramp of Gasport and Mrs.George Prttchard of Hartland were attendants. Each wore blue and red corsasres. George Moden and Albert Kramp attended the groom.Preceding the service Mrs Harriet Jessup sang "O Promise Me."Following the ceremonies a reception was held In the home of the bride's parents. Later Mr. and Mrs. Moden left for a short trip.

    GASPORT - Edward Giertz, 71, of Fruit Ave,, Medina, a former Gasport resident, died Sunday (June 19, 1966) in Medina Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Giertz, who was born in Royalton on Nov. 5, 1894, the son of Fred and Augusta Martin Giertz, has been an area farm worker all of his life. He retired nine years ago and had made his home in Medina since the death of his wife, Rose Coulson in 1960. Three daughters and two sons survive. They are Mrs. Mary Cramp of Olcott, Mrs. Florence Moden of Medina. Mrs. Mildred Stover, of Lockport, Roy Giertz of Lockport and Edward Giertz Jr. of Rochester. Also surviving are a brother, Frank Giertz of Lockport, a sister, Mrs. Emma Glena of Middleport, 37 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Friends may. call at t he Bream Funeral Home, Gasport, today from 7 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery

    GASPORT - Services for Mrs. Rose Giertz, 63, of 38 Juniper St., Lockport, were conducted today at the Bream Funeral Home by the Rev. Otto Strothman, Middleport. Burial was in Hartland Central Cemetery. Mrs. Giertz, wife of Edward Giertz, died late Saturday (May 28, 1960) at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Walter Moden, Medina. She was born June 14, 1896, in the Town of Royalton, daughter of the late Robert and Mary Coulson. She was married to Mr. Giertz Jan. 6, 1915. The couple has lived in the Lockport area all their lives. In addition to Mrs. Moden and her husband, she is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Mary Kramp, Olcott, Mrs. Mildred Betsler, Lockport; two sons, Roy and Edrward J. Giertz,, Lockport; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Rands, Gasport, Mrs. Lydia Nevins, Ransomville, and Mrs. Mary Brucker, Middleport; and two brothers, George Coulson and William Coulson, both of this community. She was also the mother of the late Alice Marks. There are 26 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Frederick Giertz died Thursday at the home on the Johnny Cake road. He is survived by his wife Augusta, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Duchow of Gasport and Mrs. Roy Glena at home, sons, Edward and Frank Giertz of Gasport, three brothers, Henry of Lockport, John and August and a sister, Mrs. Fred Blumreich of Royalton Center ands five grand children. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock and at 3 o'clock from Trinity Lutheran Church, Wolcottsville with burial in Wolcottsville cemetery. The Rev. Herman Ewald will officiate.
