    Edward J. Malinoski, 87, owner-operator for Big Ed's Fishing Camp, where he worked for 30 years, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, Pa. He was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Middleport, N.Y., the son of the late John L. and Mildred E. (Duwe) Malinoski. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II, enlisted on May 13, 1942, at Buffalo, N.Y., and was discharged on May 12, 1945, at Brooklyn, N.Y. After serving in the Coast Guard, he worked at Brock Publishing for a period of time. He was also head custodian for Cattaraugus Central School for many years. Ed was a member of the Cattaraugus Fire Department and Ambulance Squad, American Legion of Little Valley and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mayville. He served as mayor of the village of Cattaraugus, also the village board, and justice of the peace for many years. He is survived by a son, Thomas E. (Jean) Malinoski of Forestville, N.Y.; a daughter, Kathleen A. (James) Southworth of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; a grandson, Edward J. (Emily) Southworth of Ellery Center, N.Y.; three granddaughters: Erin M. (George) Haffenden of East Aurora, N.Y., Jennifer L. (Sean) Burke of Tampa, Fla., and Suzanna Borst of Astoria, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Francis J. Malinoski of Mayville, N.Y; also several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, Eilleen Rose Corrigan Malioski, whom he married in Miami, Fla., on Dec. 24, 1944. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 55 S. Main St., Cattaraugus, N.Y. Monsignor Patrick Keheler of Newman Center, University of Buffalo will be officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Park Cemetery in Village of Cattaraugus.

    JOHNS0N CREEK. Nov. 21. - One who will be sadly missed In the months to come Herman Duwe, age 53 of the Drum road, whose death occurred suddenly on Friday morning, November 16. Mr. Duwe had reached the time in life when it seemed that he could enjoy himself for a time, however, with a premonition sometimes experienced he somehow sensed that his time was near and spoke of the passing of his brother. His wife, not sensing the full import of the warning, naturally endeavored to turn it lightly aside.
    Mr . Duwe was well known. He was a great lover of music, and wherever a dance, there he was in great demand to furnish music on his violin and to call the old fashioned dances. The many friends visiting the stricken home, traveling over well nigh impassible roads bespoke for him the high esteem In which he was held.
    Leaving to mourn his passing are his wife, Mary Peters Duwe, three daughters, Mrs. Paul Beckman and Mrs. John Mallnoski of Cattaraugus Co., a n d Da y t o n Garling of Middleport. his mother Mrs. Charles Duwe of Clarence, three sisters. Mrs. Mary Ellman and Mrs. Emma Zook of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Herman Kirchos Clarence, also three grandsons. The funeral was held from his late home on Monday afternoon at J:30 o'clock. Rev. Kueher of Medina officiating with interment in Hartland Central cemetery.

    SANBORN - Mrs. Mary B. Duwe, 88, of 5810 Griffin St., died Sunday (Aug. 16, 1970) in Ransomville General Hospital after a long illness. A native of Middleport, she had resided in the Town of Barker and in Cattaraugus County prior to moving to Sanborn about five years ago. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in
    Cattaraugus. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Inez Darling of Sanborn, Mabel Beckman, Mrs. Mildred Malinoski, both of Cattaraugus, also three grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Pike and Jones Funeral Home Wednesday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. William Bluhm of the United Church of Christ in Cattaraugus officiating. Burial will be in Hartland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday.
