Donald Ralph Pokelwaldt-Martins Point - Donald Ralph Pokelwaldt, 75, of Martins Point, died Friday, August 2, 2013, in his residence. Mr. Pokelwaldt was born in N. Tonawanda, NY and has lived on the Outer Banks for the past 28 years. He was retired as a Master Chief from the U.S. Navy after 23 years of service and was retired owner/operator of Waldt Construction Inc. for 25 years. Mr. Pokelwaldt was a member of Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church, Duck Woods Country Club where he enjoyed golfing two to three times a week with the "Funsters." Donald traveled extensively with his camper and loved fishing and boating both on the Outer Banks and the Caribbean. He was a family man and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Charlotte Marshall Pokelwaldt and was the husband of 55 years to Gloria Kirisits Pokelwaldt of the home.In addition to his wife surviving are three daughters, Karen Boaz, Pamela Williams and Patti Reynolds; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) McDougal, Justin Boaz, Nathan Boaz, Jessica Reynolds, Robert Guy Reynolds and Tony Marshall Williams, Jr; great grandchildren, Andrew McDougal and Noah McDougal; brothers, Robert (Laurie) Pokelwaldt, Norman (Diane) Pokelwaldt, Thomas (Carol) Pokelwaldt and sister Kathleen Carroll. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Dr. William F. Walsh O.S. F. S., at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk, Wednesday, August 7, at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will be in St. Stephen of the Martyr Catholic Church 1544 Battlefield Blvd S.Chesapeake, VA Thursday, August 8, at 11 a.m. Friends may join the family at Twiford Funeral Home Manteo, Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the
charity of one's choice.

He is survived by his wife. Charlotte (nee Marshall) II Pokelwaldt; four sons, Robert (Laurie) of Los Angeles, Donald (Gloria), of Virginia Beach, Va.. Norman E. (Diane) of the Town of Wheatfield and Thomas (Carol) Pokelwaldt of the Town of Tonawanda; one daughter, Mrs. Jesse (Kathleen) Carroll of Kansas City, Mo.; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister. Mrs. Clarence (Erma (sic)) Haseley of Bergholtz.
Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda this evening from 7 to 9 and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m., the Rev. Sylvia G. (nee Nadeau) Kirisits, age 96 of the Town of Wheatfield, Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Elderwood Village at Glenwood in Williamsville. She was the wife of Rudolph J. Kirisits, who died in 1980 and mother of the late Kenneth Kirisits. Sylvia had been employed as Deputy Town Clerk for the Town of Wheatfield for many years before retiring.
She is survived by three children, Gloria (Donald) Pokelwaldt of Kitty Hawk, NC, Norman (Kathryn) Kirisits of Tonawanda and Michael (Cheryl) Kirisits of San Antonio, FL; her daughter-in-law, Faith (the late Kenneth) Kirisits of Elma, NY; her brother-in-law, Valentine Kirisits of Williamsville; and her very dear friend, Jenny Castex of Wheatfield. Also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, 71 Adam St. in Tonawanda. Friends invited. The Rev. Michael Uebler will officiate.
