NEWFANE — Mary Lou (Prue) Douglas passed away peacefully on July 11, 2011 in St. Augustine, Florida. She was born on January 6, 1927 in Newfane, New York, and married to Malcolm L. (Red) Douglas on June 10, 1950.

She lived most of her life in Newfane, having wintered for many years in Florida. Mary was a seamstress, first mate to her husband on their charter boat, and an avid bingo player who lived life to its fullest.

She is predeceased by her husband; parents, Eva and Joseph Prue; brothers, Roy and Norman; and sister, Ruth Zedick. She is survived by her son, Robert Douglas and his partner, Ellie Ferraro, of Buffalo; brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Prue of Garden Grove, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Herbert Blake of Dayton, NV; and sister-in-law, Shirley Prue, of Lockport. She also was loved by many nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY, on FRIDAY from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will held on SATURDAY at 10:00 AM in St. Brendan on the Lake R.C. Church, Ewing Road, Newfane, NY. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bailey Center for Caring, 200 Health Park Blvd., St. Augustine, FL 32086 or Miller Hose Fire Company, P.O. Box 99, Newfane, NY 14108 would be appreciated by the family.
