    NIAGARA FALLS, April 24. — A former member of the board of education, a past president of the Trade and Labor council and for the past eight years a truant officer for the school system, John Laur, 712 Willow avenue, died Friday night at Memorial hospital. He had been ill only a short time. He was a brother of Supervisor Andrew Laur of the Town of Niagara.Surviving him are three sons. John V., Arthur A., and Charles J , all of this city; a sister, Mrs. William Mess, this city, and three brothers,Henry V. and Christian; Niagara Falls, and Andrew, town of Niagara.Funeral services will be held at Zlon church «t 3:30 o'clock, Monday,with the Rev. Arthur H. Schmoyer officiating Burial will be in Oak.wood cemetery.

    John Laur, of 721 Willow avenue,one of the most widely known men In Niagara Falls and a member of a pioneer Town of Niagara family, died In Memorial hospital last night, following a brief illness. He was 68 years old.A former member of the Board of Education, past president of the Trades and Labor council and for 14 years business agent for the local carpenter's union, Mr. Laur had served the past eight years as attendance officer for the schools of the city.He was president of the Niagara Falls Exempt Firemen's association and an outstanding leader in fraternal and church activities.Born In the Town of Niagara on May 23, 1868, he was the son of the late Vitus Laur and Katherlne Russ,widely known early settlers. He came to Niagara Falls 45 years ago and since that time had been active in many different spheres.Mr. Laur had been a Mason for 33 years and an Odd Fellow for 30 years, holding memberships in Niagara River Lodge, No. 785, F. and A.M., and Niagara Falls Lodge, No. 81,I. O. O. F.' He was also a member of Local 322. of the Carpenters' union; the Young Men's association of Zion Lutheran church and the German American Alliance. He was a former member of the government council of Zion Lutheran church.Surviving him are three sons, John V., Arthur A. and Charles J. Laur, all of this city; a sister, Mrs. William Mess, of this city, and three brothers,Supervisor Andrew Laur. of the Town of Niagara, and Henry V. and Christian Laur, of this city.The funeral will be held from the family home Monday afternoon with public services at the Zion Lutheran church at 3 30 o'clock, the Rev.Arthur H.     The will of John Laur, school at tendance officer, who died here on £prll 23, was admitted to probate at City Hall today by Judge-Surrogate William A. Gold, who named toe Power City Trust company executor. The bulk of Mr. Law's estate, listed nominally In the petition lor probate a t $5,000 realty and $1,000 and up wards personal property. Is to be shared by three sons, Charles J. Laur, John V. Laur and Arthur A. Laur, all of 721 Willow avenue. They are bequeathed certain parcels of real property and equal shares of the residuary estate. A trust fund of $2,000 Is to be established tor a grandson, John Arthur Laur, also of the Willow ave nue address. He will receive one half of the principal a t the age of 21 and the other half at the age of 25. The will, witnessed by Edward F. Dodge and W. Tobln Lennon, was drawn on April 31 of this year.

Streicher and had been a resident of this city for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church and of tho Ladies' Aid and Woman's Missionary societies of tho church. She Is survived by her husband, three sons, John, Jr., Arthur and Charles Laur; ,three brothers, Frank P. Streicher of Buffalo, Jacob F., and William E. Streicher of Niagara Falls and a sister, Miss Louise Streicher of Detroit, Mich. Funeral services will be held at the home. No. 807 Willow avenue, on Thursday at 2 p. m., and 2:00 p m..
