Alfred L. Hewitt, 96, departed this life on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at his residence, while in the presence of his loving family. Born on December 20, 1922 in Lewiston, NY, he was the son of the late Alan and Lena (Laur) Hewitt. On January 1, 1943, he married the former Lola McGee in Niagara Falls, NY. She predeceased him on January 29, 2009.
Al, as he was known to family and friends, was a lifelong area resident and graduated from LaSalle High School. He proudly served in the United States Army, during World War II, from January 14, 1943 until his honorable discharge on December 28, 1945. For 34 years, Al was employed as an Area Foreman for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, until he retired in 1982. He, a child of God, was a congregant of Payne Avenue Christian Church and a member of Niagara Frontier Country Club. Al enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening and square dancing.
Al is survived by daughters, Barbara (Peter) Baker, Linda (Greg) Mikolajek, Marjorie (Larry) Minor and Bonnie (Jim) Sands; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers, Gerald (late Rose) Hewitt, Richard (late Lynn) Hewitt, Kenneth (late Ruth) Hewitt, Donald (late Betty) Hewitt and Harold Hewitt.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, February 4th at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Fleming officiating. Interment will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery, concluding with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimers Association. The marriage of Mtss Lola May
McGee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jesse U. McGee. of Elmwood avenue,
and Mr. Alfred L. Hewitt, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hewitt, of
Mountain road, Lewlston, N. Y ,
was solemnized New Year's evening
at 8 o'clock at the Church of Christ,
Disciples, with the Rev. William F.
Saye officiating.
The musical setting for ceremony
was furnished by Mrs. Grace Y.
Banks at t h e organ and Mrs. Gladys
Prindle, soloist, while palms, beautiful
tall groupings of white gladioli
with laurel formed the color
note for the decorations In the
church In candlelight.
The double ring ceremony
used.
White satin was worn by
bride, the bodice designed with lace
yoke, fitted sleeves, with fullness at
the shoukler. Her fingertip veil of
French tulle fell from a crown of
tiny white pom poms. Her bouquet
was of white pom poms, white
rases and servla, with a shower of
tiny ribbons.
Mrs. Don Frisbie, matron of
honor, wore a gown of pale apple
green taffeta with full net skirt,
the bodice of taffeta. She wore a
floral headdress of pale green pom
poms with bouquet to match.
Miss Bonnie MacGillivrary and
Miss Ruth Schul. bridesmaids, wore
gowns with taffeta bodice and full
net skirt, the former in pale pink
He and the latter in gold shade.
Sequins trimmed the fitted bodices.
Each wore a floral coronet of
matching pom pom.s and carried a
bouquet of pom poms of the shade.
Mr. Gerald Hewitt, brother of the
bridegroom, was the best man, with
Mr. Welford McGee. brother of t he
bride, and Mr. Donald Hewitt.

The mother of fhe bride wore a
gown of navy blue romalne crepe
and the mother of the bridegroom
wore a gown of light brown
Immediately after the wedding
there was a lovely reception, held in
the church parlors, where attractive
decorations of ferns and white
gladioli were used. The bride's
cake and the bridegroom's cake
centered the bride's table. Miss
Patricia Garrow provided the musi-
cal setting for the reception with
selections on the piano.
Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt left for a
trip to Washington, D. C.., the bride
traveling in a suit of powder blue
with wine accessories. Until the
first part of January Mr. and Mrs.
Hewitt will reside with the parents
of the bride; at that time the
bridegroom will enter the service.
