    Jack Edward Weiss, age 95, of North Tonawanda, July 1, 2021 in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, after a brief illness. Mr. Weiss was a WWII Marine Corp veteran and he was a member of the Marine Corp League, the Conrad F. Kania Detachment. He was a former employee of the Mye Lumber Company. Jack was an avid golfer and was very artistic and enjoyed wood carving. He was the husband of the late Irene (nee Proefrock) Weiss. Beloved father of Kathleen (Craig) Meyers and Jack (Vicki) Weiss. Grandfather of Bryan (Kris) Weiss and the late Jack E. Weiss II. Great-grandfather of Matthew (Sammi) Weiss and Brayden Weiss. Brother of the late Olive, Clifford, Robert, and Dale. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc. 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Tuesday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home beginning at 8 P.M., the Rev. Keith Knupp will officiate, interment will be in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.     PROEFROCK – George J. Proefrock, 81, of North Tonawanda, Wednesday (February 2, 1977) a DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Proefrock was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, an Army veteran of World War I and former employee of DuPont, Niagara Falls, N.Y.

    He is survived by his wife, Annamarie (nee Altmayer) Proefrock; a son, Robert G. (June) Proefrock of North Tonawanda, and a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Irene) Weiss of North Tonawanda; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, William Proefrock of North Tonawanda, and two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Weyers of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Louise Mentor of Sparks, Nev.

    The family will receive friends at the Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd., North Tonawanda, Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m., the Rev. Thomas K. Spahn will officiate. Interment in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.

    Man Struck By Train, Killed
    NORTH TONAWANDA, July 8.-Believed to have been struck by a southbound passenger train of the New York Central railroad's Niagara Falls branch at the Washington street crossing, the lifeless body of Christian Proeforck (sic), 74 years old, of 44 Stenzil (sic) street, was found this afternoon in a ditch beside the railroad track. The body was badly mangled and was ordered removed to Ramp's funeral home, in Adams street, by Coroner Jacob Helwig, who investigated the accident. He said that there were indications that the man was struck on the crossing and had been dead about an hour. It was learned that there is a southbound train which passes over the New York Central tracks at that point at about noon and authorities believe that this train struck the man, its crew unaware of the accident. He is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina Proeforck (sic); five sons, John, of Tonawanda, August, of St. Johnsburg, and Edward, William and George, of North Tonawanda; three daughters, Mrs. Philip Witkopf and Mrs. Rudolph Blank, of Walmore, Mrs. Arnold Weyers, of North Tonawanda; one brother, August, of North Tonawanda, and one sister, Mrs. Gustave Schendel, of Nashville. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3:30 o'clock from the home and 4 o'clock from St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment will be in St. Mark's cemetery, Niagara Falls boulevard.

    Stenzel street. Born in Germany, she had resided in North Tonawanda 76

    Blank of Walmore and Mrs. Otto Weyers of North Tonawanda; five sons, john of
