    NORTH TONAWANDA — Frank L. Prohaska, of the Town of Cambria, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2010, in Northgate Health Care Facility, North Tonawanda, NY. He was born in North Tonawanda, NY on June 7, 1921, the son of the late John and Anna (Prohaszka) Prohaska.

    Mr. Prohaska was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School. He moved to the Town of Cambria in 1957, where he owned and operated his dairy farm, along with raising grapes. Mr. Prohaska was a member of Niagara County Farm Bureau, the Niagara Milk Co-Op and The National Grape Cooperative Association, Inc. He enjoyed listening to music, reading, watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

    Mr. Prohaska is survived by his wife, Shirley A. (Westra) Prohaska; two sons, Thomas J. (Paula) Prohaska, Gary W. (Dawn) Prohaska; a daughter, Beth (Howard F. II) Wilson; three grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen and Miles; one brother, Paul (Lucy) Prohaska; one sister, Margaret Beringer; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Prohaska, Catherine Butler, Helen Ludwig, Anna Gougeon, Sophie Bille, Louise Miller, Elizabeth Perry and Marie Toellner.

    The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, where funeral services will be held Friday at 9:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Pius the X Church , 1700 North French Road, Getzville, NY, with Rev. James C. O'Connor officiating. Memorials may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Ste. 6, Williamsville, NY 14221. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Tonawanda, NY.

    WHEATFIELD — Shirley A. Prohaska, of the Town of Cambria, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013, in Northgate Health Care Facility, Wheatfield, NY.

    She was born in Tonawanda, NY, on December 2, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Etta (Harkins) Westra.

    Mrs. Prohaska graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1946. She was a ticket agent for American Airlines for about 10 years in th 1940s and 1950s, and later became the accounts receivable clerk at Muck Motors in Getzville for about 15 years, beginning in 1978. Mrs. Prohaska helped her husband on the family farm. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Altar Rosary Society. Mrs. Prohaska was a member of Cambria Home Bureau and enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting and reading.

    Mrs. Prohaska was the wife of the late Frank L. Prohaska, who died in November of 2010. She is survived by two sons, Thomas J. (Paula) Prohaska of Lockport and Gary W. (Dawn) Prohaska of Cambria; a daughter, Beth (Howard F. II) Wilson of Buffalo; three grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen and Miles; one sister, Joanne Onofrio; and a sister-in-law, Betty Westra. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Prohaska was the sister of the late Richard, John, William and Helen Westra, Bertha Stahl, Evelyn Westra, Mary Etta Rose and Dorothy Crittenden.

    The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY on Monday, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 1700 North French Road, Getzville, with Rev. James C. O'Connor officiating.

    The family would like to thank the staff at Unit B of Northgate for taking good care of Shirley.

    Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Ste. 6, Williamsville, NY 14221. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Tonawanda, NY.

    In a nuptial high mass ceremony at noon today in
    St. Francis of Assisi Church, Miss Shirley Ann Westra,
    daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Westra, 67 Longs
    Ave., became the bride of Frank L. Prohaska, son of
    Mr. and Mrs. John Prohaska, 475 Ward R.
    The Rev. Francis B. Baratio of-
    ficiated at the double ring cere-
    mony and mass. Louis Z. Almasi
    was the soloist.
    Given in marriage by her father,
    the bride wore a floor length gown
    of chantilly lace and nylon tulle
    over satin. Her finger tip veil was
    caught to a head band of seed
    pearls and sequins. She carried a
    white prayer book covered with
    white glamellias.
    Matron of honor, Mrs. Norman
    Stahl, sister of the bride, wore a
    ballerina gown of pale blue crys-
    talette with matching pearl and
    net headpiece. She carried a cas-
    cade bouquet of pink glamellias.
    John Prohaska attended his
    brother as best man and John T.
    Westra, Jr., the bride's brother
    and Anthony Beringer were ush-
    ers.
    For her daughter's wedding,
    Mrs. Westra chose ablue dress
    with matching jacket and black
    accessories. The bridegroom's
    mother was attired in a blue lace
    dress complemented with black
    accessories. Both wore orchids in
    a delicate orchid shade.
    A dinner reception for the im-
    mediate families followed the cere-
    mony in the Eldredge Club.

    PROHASKA - John Prohaska, age 83, of 4461 Lower Mountain Road, Lockport, N.
    Y., died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1970 in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief
    illness.
    Born in Austria Hungary, Mr. Prohaska had resided in North Tonawanda for
    over 50 years before moving to Lockport 12 years ago. He was employed for
    many years at the former Richardson Boat Co. before retiring in 1947 and was
    a member of St. Joseph's R. C. Church.
    Surviving are his wife, Anna (nee Prohaska); three sons, John of North
    Tonawanda; Frank and Paul Prohaska, both of Lockport; eight daughters, Mrs.
    Catherine Butler, Mrs. Helen Ludwig, Mrs. Edward (Anne) Gougeon, Mrs.
    Richard (Elizabeth) Perry, Mrs. Donald (Sophie) Mellenthine, Mrs. Anthony
    (Margaret) Beringer, Mrs. Roy (Marie) Toellner and Mrs. Michael (Louise)
    Miller, all of the Tonawandas; 22 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and
    a sister, Mrs. Sophia Waldek of Tonawanda.
    The family will b present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hamp Funeral
    Home, inc., anda and Seymoure Streets, Tonawanda, where prayers will be said
    Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at
    10 o'clock in St. Joseph's Church. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. On
    Thanksgiving Day, calling hours are from 2 to 9 p.m. only. Recitation of
    the Rosary Friday evening at 8 o'clock in the funeral home.
