Clarence E. Swearengen, also known as Pete, 88, passed away on December 6, 2020 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born May 20, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Marguerite (Williams) Swearengen. Pete is survived by his wife of 23 years Michele (Magno) Swearengen.
Pete retired from Union Carbide Corp. as a crane operator in 1986. He also worked for his late brother, Richard Swearengen, at Gray Furnace for 30 years. He loved watching NASCAR races and spending time with his beloved family and grandchildren. He found joy in lounging and spending time with his beloved dogs.
Pete is survived by his children, David Swearengen, Peter Swearengen, Deborah (Pete) Pietrangeli, Pamela (David) Day; two stepchildren, William Jenks and Debra Jenks; four grandchildren, Peter (fiancé Jaime Pero) Pietrangeli, Bryan (Laura) Pietrangeli, Courtney and David Day; two great grandchildren, Vincent and Connor Pietrangeli; his brother Donald (late Ellen) Swearengen, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife Grace (Westcott) Swearengen, his second wife Rita (Whysong) Swearengen and their infant son Mark Swearengen, and his third wife Florence (Johnson) Swearengen; his siblings, Rebecca (late Richard) Dent, Mildred (late Jim) Whitmarsh, Mary (late Alvin) Timm and Richard (late Jane) Swearengen.
Pete’s family would like to express sincere gratitude towards Dr. S. Singh for his wonderful care and compassion. Also, to Dr. Fiorica, Dr. Martinez, Dr. Sarina Bax-Debiaso, social worker Pam, Mt. St. Mary’s Staff and Hospice staff for their kindness, comfort and wonderful care he received.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10th from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. A Celebration of Pete’s life will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Flowers are graciously declined. before the ceremony which united
in marriage Miss Grace Victoria
Westcott and Mr. Clarence Elsworth
Swearengen in the Hope Lutheran
church. Town of Niagara.
The Rev. Fred W. Van officiated
at the ceremony between the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis P. Westcott.
Woodside place, and the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence F. Swearengen.
Elsa place. The candlelit altar
was set with white gladioli. Mrs.
Fred W. Van sang "Because" and
'The Lord's Prayer" accompanied
by Miss Batterson.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was attired in a marquisette
gown with a wide lace band
centered with a string of seed pearls
giving an off-the-shoulder effect.
Matching lace, used in the peplum,
extended into panels on each side of
the full skirt, which cascaded into
a train. A satin heart-shaped headpiece
held her illusion veil and she
carried a white prayer book; topped
with a white orchid.
The gowns of the bridal party
were fashioned along similar lines.
Miss Lucille Westcott, sister of the
bride and maid of honor, wore light
green, and the bridesmaids, Miss
Diane Winquist and Miss Gloria
Beemer, wore orchid and yellow respectively.
Styled similar to the
bride's gown the ensembles had a
small pleated bertha giving the offthe-
shoulder effect. Miss Westcott
carried a colonial bouquet of yellow
roses and mums while the
bridesmaids carried colonial bouquets
of red roses.
Mr. Donald Swearengen was best
man for his brother. The ushers
were Mr. Francis Bernier and Mr.
Gordon Hayes.
The mother of the bride favored
a gray satin dress with matching
accessories and a corsage of red
roses. The bridegroom's mother
chose a gray dress with red acces-
sories and a red rase corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. Swearengen, upon
their return from a motor trip
throughout New York state, will re-
side at Rt. 47, Liberty avenue. Town
of Niagara. For traveling the bride
wore a gray suit with black accessories
and an orchid corsage.
