NORTH TONAWANDA - Robert Gentzke died December 10, 2010 in the home with his wife, Marjorie, and family at his side. He died peacefully anticipating heaven. He was born in North Tonawanda to Wilbert and Eleanor Gentzke on February 1, 1931 and was baptized at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Robert attended grade school at St. Mark's Lutheran School from 1935-1944. He was confirmed on Psalm Sunday in 1944. He attended high school at North Tonawanda High School 1944-1948. Robert attended college at Valparaiso University and graduated in 1952. Robert was married to Marjorie Rutz on June 7, 1952. He attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL 1952-1957, and vicared at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Minneapolis 1955-1956. The churches he pastored were Bethel Lutheran, Fort Smith, AR„2 years; Trinity, Mena, AR„2 years; Concordia, Nashville, TN „2 years; Chapel of the Cross, Kansas City, MO 20 years. He started Our Savior and Immanuel Lutheran Missions. The church offices that Robert held were LLL Pastoral Advisor for Tennessee District, Circuit Counselor of Nashville Circuit, Pastoral Advisor LWML, Nashville, Christian Chaplaincy Community of Kansas City, and Missionary at Large, Kansas City. Robert is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his mother, Eleanor Gentzke of North Tonawanda; his brother, Ronald Gentzke and wife, JoAnn of Niagara Falls; four children, Phyllis and Michael McGrady, Bruce and Lisa Gentzke, Richard and Patricia Tallon, Dr. Alan and Sheri Zinke; 13 grandchildren, Travis and Heather McGrady, Cassie and Doug Foreman, Kyle and Karen McGrady and Tyler McGrady, Grant Tallon, Alyssa Mandy and Holly Zinke, Brandon, Eric, Katie and Ashley Gentzke, Christina Gentzke (deceased); great-grandchildren, Wesley and Sara Elizabeth McGrady, Jacob and Anna Foreman. In 1993 he retired to Nixa, MO. Robert's favorite hymn was "How Great Thou Art." His favorite past time was reading, photography, teaching Bible classes, enjoying family, camping out West in our 5th wheel. Gentzke, Eleanor H. (Lemke) age 103 of North Tonawanda Saturday March 7, 2015 in Elderwood at Grand Island after a brief illness. Eleanor was a lifetime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and was very active in the Ladies Guild. She was the wife of the late Wilbert F. Gentzke who died in 1982. Beloved mother of Ronald (JoAnn) Gentzke of the Town of Niagara and the late Rev. Robert (Marge) Gentzke of Missouri; Grandmother of Phyllis (Michael) McGrady, Paul (Sue) Gentzke, John (Cindy) Gentzke, Trish (Rick) Tallon, LuAnn (Patrick) McLean, Sheri (Alan) Zinke, Mark (Sue) Gentzke and the late Bruce Gentzke; 20 great grandchildren and the late Christina Gentzke and 16 great great grandchildren. Sister of the late Elsie Hurdiss, Clara Bourlier. Raymond Lemke, Herbert Lemke and Emma Lemke. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Special friend of Peggy Gentzke and Lois Justice. Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc. 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Saturday from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 PM from St. Mark Lutheran Church. The Rev. Keith Knupp will officiate. Interment in Elmlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.

GENTZKE - Otto F Gentzke. 93. of Tonawanda. Monday evening (Sept 2, 1974) at Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Germany, he had been a resident of Tonawanda the greater part of his life and was the husband of Lillian A. (nee Jaenecke) Gentzke. who died in 1967 Mr Gentzke owned and operated Gentzke's Market at Main and Adam Sts in Tonawanda for more than 55 years, retiring ten years ago. He was past president of Immanuel Lutheran Church and member of St. Matthew, Lutheran Church. L.L.L., and the Lutheran Extension Society. He is survived by four daughters. Mrs. John (Helen) Schulz. Mrs. Edmund (Erma) Hoffmeister. Mrs. Martin (Verna) Wambsganss and Mrs. Edward (Virginia) Kopp. all of the Tonawandas; six sons. Wilbert F., Frank L .. Walter G , and Otto Gentzke Jr . all of the Tonawandas. Marvin J., of Barker. N.Y., and Harley H Gentzke of Niagara Falls: 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. and until noon Thursday at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Morgan and William Sts . (nee Jaenecke) Gentzke, 86, of 61 Morgan St., Tonawanda, died Tuesday evening (May 2, 1967) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.Born in Martinsville, she had been a resident of this area all her life and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Ladies Guild and Missionary Society of the church. Survivors include her husband, Otto F. Gentzke Sr.; four daughters, Mrs. John (Helen) Schulz. Mrs. Edmund Erma) Hoffmeister, Mrs. Martin (Verna) Wambsganss and Mrs. Edward (Virginia) Kopp, all of the Tonawandas; six sons, Wilbert F. of North Tonawanda. Marvin F. of Barker, N.Y., Harley H. of Niagara Falls, Frank L., Walter G. and Otto F. Gentzke Jr., all of the Tonawandas, and a sister, Mrs. Rose A. Kaufman of North Tonawanda.
