    Mrs. C. M. Whiting Unexpectedly
    Stricken; Funeral Friday.
    Stricken by a heart attack. Mrs.
    Catherine Mary Whiting, widow of
    George C. Whiting and a resident of
    Niagara Falls for the past 40 years,
    died shortly after 6 o'clock last evening
    In her home. 710 Pine avenue. Announcement
    of her death was received
    with sincere sorrow by many friends in
    all parts of the city. While she had
    been in ill health for several months,
    her condition had not been considered
    alarming. She, was seized with the
    heart attack shortly after 5 o'clock
    and an hour later was dead.
    Mrs. Whiting was 56 years old. She
    was born .in India, her father having
    been an officer in the British army, but
    came to this city when but 16 years old
    and had resided here since. Of kindly
    disposition and always considerate of
    others, Mrs. Whiting made many friends
    during her long residence here. She
    was a devout member of St. Mary's
    church. Surviving are two sons, Howard
    C. and Chester H., and two daughters,
    Mrs. Paul H. Grams and Mrs.
    Myra Whiting Crawford, all of this
    city". °
    Arrangements are being completed
    today to hold the funeral Friday morning
    at 9 o'clock In St. Mary's church.
    Burial will be in the Whiting family
    plot ln Oakwcod cemetery.

    Louis Wagner. 83 years old of
    1070 North Military road, a well
    known figure In the LaSalle section
    of the city and a lifelong resident
    of the Town of Niagara, died yesterday
    in Memorial hospital of pneumonia
    after a few days of illness.
    A farmer for many years, he also
    served on the old LaSalle village
    road commission from 1896 to 1910
    and was in charge of the construction
    of the South Military road
    bridge.
    Mr. Wagner retired In 1918 and
    has lived since at the North Military
    road address. With his wife.
    he celebrated his fiftieth wedding
    anniversary in November. 1934. His
    wife died In July. 1937 He was a
    son of pioneer residents of the Town
    of Niagara.
    Funeral services will be held from
    the family home at 2 p.m. Thursday.
    with the Rev. G. F Hover
    officiating. Burial will be In Oak-
    wood cemetery.
    Surviving him are seven children.
    Mrs. W. J. Miller, of Lockport: Louis
    Wagner and Mrs. S. P. Bellew. both
    of this city; Mrs. E. C. Wilson, of
    Sanborn: Mrs. Howard Whiting, of
    Worcester, Mass.; John H. Wagner,
    this city, and Norman O. Wagner,
    of Baltimore. Md. Nine grandchildren
    also survive.

    Mrs. C. R. Whiting, one of the o ld
    residents of Niagara Falls died yesterday
    morning at her home, No. 220
    Third street. She was born in Schoharie
    71 years ago and came here in
    1865, when she married Mr. Whiting
    who was engaged in the hotel business.
    She had failed in health steadily
    for tho past year and was stricken
    to her bed two weeks ago. She realized
    that her end was near and sent
    for her children.
    She Is survived by four daughters.
    Miss Bella M. Whiting, Mrs. Arthur
    Hammond, both of this city, Mrs. E .
    H ' . R i e t e n of New York City, and
    Mrs. H. C. Brownell of Plainmott,
    Mich., and one son, George Whiting
    of this city.
    The funeral will be held- at her
    home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30
    o'clock. The interment will be made
    at Oakwood cemetery.
