MARTIN - Matilda E. (nee
Wilke) Martin, 73, of 50 North
Elmwood Park, Tonawanda, died
Friday evening (Dec. 4, 1959) in
the North Town Nursing Home af-
ter several months' illness. Born
in North tonawanda, she had
been a resident of the Tonawan-
das all of her life. Mrs. Martin
was a member of Redeemer Lu-
theran Church, the Ladies Guild,
and the Lutheran Women's Mis-
sionary League of the church. She
is survived by her husband, Wil-
liam R. Martin, Sr.; a daughter,
Mrs. David H. Wasson of Johns-
town, Pa.; two sons, William r.
Martin, Jr. of Syracuse, N.Y.,
and Glenn W. Martin of Tonawan-
da; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie En-
sminger of the Town of Tonawan-
da, and Mrs. George W. Kroen-
ing of North Tonawanda; she also
is survived by 10 grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. William R. Martin, the first Tona-
wandans to build in t h e Elmwood P a r k development of
Tonawanda, will c e l e b r a t e t h e i r 50th a n n i v e r s a r y Sunday.
They have lived in 50 N o r t h Elmwood P a r k for 40 y e a r s.
Mr. Martin and the former Ma-
tilda E. wilke were married June
27, 1905 in the bride's home, 169
Keil St. the Rev. A. F. Lutz, pas-
tor of Redeemer Lutheran Church
officiated.
Their attendants were Miss Lil-
liam Wilke, now Mrs. George W.
Kroening; Miss Virginia Louns-
bury, now Mrs. William Clayton,
Jr., Judge Charles J. Knoell and
the late Dr. Edward C. Koenig.
The couple's first home was in
350 Delaware St. Mr. Martin was
employed 49 years at the First
Trust Company. He is a charter
member of Redeemer Lutheran
Church where he and Mrs. Mar-
tin are active members. He also
is a charter member of the Tona-
wandas' Kiwanis Club and a mem-
ber of the Lutheran Laymen's
League.
The Martins have three chil-
dren, Virginia (Mrs. David Was-
son); william R. Jr. and Glenn
W. Martin. Their grandchildren
are Janet, Christopher, Cindy,
Douglas and Roy Wasson, Carol
William R. III and Hal Martin
and Connie Martin.
After a dinner party at the Del-
aware Hotel for the immediate
family and close friends, the Mar-
tins will have open house in
North Elmwood Park from 8 to 10
p.m. Sunday. Their friends are in-
vited to call during the evening.
