    .-recently observed their
    50th wedding anniversary
    at a surprise dinner party
    at Transit Valley Country
    Club given by Mr. Peters'
    sister, Thelma, and her
    husband, Walter Balling.
    Mr. Peters and the
    former Helen Wilke were
    .married Aug. 24, 1926, in
    Grace Lutheran Church,
    North Tonawanda, with
    the Rev. Clarence Braun
    officiating. The couple
    are life-long residents of
    the Tonawandas.
    They are the parents of
    two sons, Noel Peters of
    Tonawanda, and the late
    Daryl Peters of Clarence.
    They have five grand-
    children and three great-
    grandchildren. Andrew
    Peters and family of
    Chicago, Ill., attended his
    grandparents'
    celebration.

    Mrs. Sadte L. Peters, nee Krum.
    62, died this morning at her home
    92 Walter avenue, after a prolonged
    illness. She was a life-long
    resident and a member of the
    Grace Lutheran church. Surviving
    are her husband, Charles F.; two
    daughters, Mrs. Walter Balling
    and Mrs. Fred Balling of Tonawanda;
    a son, Chester A. Peters
    of Tonawanda; three grandchildren,
    two brothers, Edward and
    Louis Krum of North Tonawanda
    and a nephew, RusseM Krum of
    New York city. Rites will be heJd
    Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock
    from the residence. The Rev. Herman
    Miller will officiate. Burial
    will be in White Chapel Memorial
    Park.

    Louis a Wilke, 81, a founder
    and one of the most active mem-
    bers of Grace Lutheran Church,
    North Tonawanda, died today in
    DeGrass Memorial Hospital after
    a short illness.
    His death terminated a 52-year
    record of perfect attendance at
    the church's Sunday School.
    Mr. Wilke, a lifelong resident of
    North Tonawanda, was treasurer
    of Wagenschuetz Hardware Inc ,
    230 Oliver St., where he had
    been employed since he was 14
    iyears old.
    n 1956 Mr. Wilke received a
    golden hammer from the Estwing
    Manufacturing Co. of Rockford,
    Ill., whose products he sold
    throughout his 67-year career at
    the store. The hammer commem-
    orated 60 years' service in the
    hardware industry.
    Grace Lutheran Church was or-
    ganized 53 years ago in the third-
    floor hall of Mr. Wilke's hard-
    ware store, on Jan. 21, 1906.
    His numerous activities in con-
    nection with the church include
    the position as a Sunday School
    superintendent for 25 years, and
    as the church's financial secre-
    tary for 20 years.
    He was the first president of
    the grace Lutheran Brotherhood
    in 1920 and 1921, and had served
    as president of the New York
    State Luther League, the Buffalo
    Luther League, his church's first
    bowling league, the Union Broth-
    erhood, the Grace Lutheran
    Church, the Retail Credit Bureau
    and the Church cabinet. He was
    vice president of the Twin City
    Council of Churches from 1939 to
    1942.
    He regularly attended synod
    and other meetings all over the
    country, was several times elect-
    ed a delegate to the United Lu-
    theran Church conventions and
    held numerous offices in Luther-
    an groups.
    Arrangements are being made
    at the Brunner Funeral Home, 156
    Robinson St., North Tonawanda.
    Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday
    in the Grace Lutheran Church.

    Sunday (Nov, 5, 1961) at the Niagara
    Lutheran Home, Buffalo,
    after a long illness. She was a
    member of Grace Lutheran
    Church and was the widow of
    Louis A. Wilke, who died in September
    1959. Survivors include a
    daughter, Mrs. Chester (Helen)
    Peters and a son, Raymond
    Wilke, of Tonawanda; five grandchildren,
    13 great-grandchildren
    and several cousins in Canada.
    Friends may call at Creasey Funeral
    Home, 93 Adam St., Tonawanda,
    where services will be
    Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev.
    Howard E. Funk will officiate.
    Burial in Elmlawn Cemetery

    Mrs Auguste C. Wilke, 87, died
    late Sunday afternoon at the home
    of her daughter, Mrs. George
    Kroening, 618 Old Niagara Falls
    boulevard. Mrs. Wilke was a lifelong
    resident of North Tonawanda
    and a charter member of the St.
    Matthew's Lutheran church on
    Wheatfield street. She is survived
    by four daughters, Mrs. Henry
    Papke of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Albert
    Ensminger.of Kenmore, Mrs.
    Kroening and Mrs. William R.
    Martin of Tonawanda; a son, Louis
    of North Tonawanda; 12 grandchildren,
    11 great grandchildren
    and five brothers, Julius and
    George C. Fritz of North Tonawanda,
    Louis Fritz of the town
    of Wheatfield and John and Edward
    Fritz of Lockport. Rites will
    be held Wednesday afternoon at
    4 o'clock from the Kroening residence.
    The Rev. Carl Frankenstein
    will officiate. Burial will be in St.
    Paul's cemetery.
