    SALISBURY, MD - Ruth A. Bromhall, 93, of Salisbury, MD, died on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. Born on January 31, 1921 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Eva Kerr Schwenkbeck.

    Ruth was in the inaugural class of volunteers at Peninsula General Hospital where she served for over 25 years, touching many lives. She was our beloved mom, the center and grounding of our lives, always game for family adventures, known for her reassuring and easy smile and wink, her expertise at doing crossword puzzles, and for her great spaghetti sauce.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Herbert Bromhall; a son, Mark Frederick Bromhall; one sister and seven brothers.

    She is survived by four daughters, Jude Bromhall Brown and her husband, Frank, of Ocracoke Island, NC, Janis Bromhall Shores (Robert Freeman) of Delmar, MD, Joan Bromhall Kjeldsen of Salisbury, MD, and Jeanne Cullen of Ocracoke Island, NC. She is also survived by her former son-in-law, Neil Peter Kjeldsen of Miami, FL; six grandchildren, Matthew Brown (Mary), Travis Brown (Toni), Andrew Shores (Nicole), Lucas Kjeldsen, Zachary Kjeldsen, Jaren Mutro (Dale); five great-grandchildren, Elicia Brown, Hannah Brown, Ava Brown, Trenton Darlington and Mason Darlington; a sister, Dorothy Jagow; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Blakelock; many nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Mary Esther Kraft of Mt. Vernon, MD.

    A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. Pastor Kevin Wackett will officiate.

    Millard Fillmore Hospital.
    Mr. Bromhall was a Buffalo
    Courier-Express printer. He was
    a past district deputy grand mas-
    ter of Masons and a former vice
    president and executive commit-
    tee member of Local 9, Interna-
    tional typographical Union. He
    received his ITU 50-year pin in
    July.
    A native of England, he former-
    ly worked at the American Sales-
    book Co. plant, now a Moore
    Business Forms Inc. division, at
    Niagara Falls. He was a mem-
    ber of Cataract Lodge, Independ-
    ent Order of Odd Fellows, and
    St. Mark's Lodge, F&AM, both of
    Niagara Falls, Ont.
    Mr. Bromhall is survived by his
    wife, the former Olive Swan; two
    sons and a daughter, Sidney V.,
    Raymond h. Bromhall and Mrs.
    John Weber, also by a brother,
    William Bromhall.

    of 463 Third St. died Sunday evening
    (Jan. 23) 1967) in Mount
    St. Mary's Hospital after a
    short illnes.
    Born in Niagara Fals, Mr.
    Schwenkbeck had been a member
    of the Niagara Falls Fire
    Department from 1918 until his
    retirement inT958. During these
    years, his job was conducted
    mainly from Engine 1 Firehall,
    Second and Niagara streets.
    He was a member of Trinity
    Lutheran Church.
    Mr. Schwenkbeck is survived
    by his widow, Mrs. Eva
    Schwenkbeck; two sons, Howard
    Schwenkbeck of Tonawanda
    and George Schwenkbeck of
    this city; two stepsons, Wallace
    Blakelock of Buffalo and Barton
    Blakelock of Grand Island;
    two daughters', Mrs. Clarence
    (Dorothy) Jagow and Mrs.
    Robert (Gertrude) Blakelock,
    both of this city; and a stepdaughter,
    Mrs. Raymond (Ruth)
    Bromhall of Salisbury, Md.; 19
    grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
    The Rev. Arnold W. Schneider
    of Trinity Lutheran Church
    will conduct funeral services
    at the Gridley Funeral Home
    at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial
    will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
    A spokesman for the family
    said that memorial contributions
    to the Trinity Lutheran
    Church organ fund would be
    acceptable as tributes.
    Friends may call at the funeral
    home from 7 to 9 p.m.
    today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to
    9 p.m. Tuesday.
