    NIAGARA FALLS — Hilda K. Bale, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2011, in Las Vegas, NV, at the age of 94. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on March 5, 1916, the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Mary (Ely) Kane.

    Mrs. Bale was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. She was employed with several law firms in the city and retired from the Development Office of Niagara University in 1981.

    Mrs. Bale was the wife of the late Frederick H. Bale, who died in 1997.

    She is survived by a son, James (Lynn) Bale of Laurel, MD; two daughters, Shirley Pokrzyk of Las Vegas, NV and Kate Bale (Larry) Kruhm of Middleway, WV; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona Shipston of Lewiston, NY; also many, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bale was the mother of late Margaret Bale and sister of the late Agnes Bourque, Frank Kane, Bertha McGee, Florence Reed, Andrew Kane and Thomas Kane.

    Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Raphael Roman Catholic Parish, College and Macklem Avenues, Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev. Ivan Skenderovic officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SmileTrain for treatment of children with cleft palates at www.smiletrain.org. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

    Surviving are his wife. Mrs. Florence
    Bale; five daughters. Mrs.
    Frtnlt Scherber. Mrs. James Dowl-
    Ing, Mrs. Karl Traub, Mrs. Florence
    Brown and Mrs. James Kehoe; a
    son, Frederick H. Bale, Jr.; a brother,
    Courtney Bale, all of this city,

    Manor after a lengthy illness.
    A native of Sheldon, N. Y,

    Survivors include one son,

    Cemetery.

    funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
    Wednesday and from 2 to 5
    and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
