Attending Physicians Say There is No
Chance for the Woman to Live-
    Family Troubles Given as Motive
    Drank Acid in Husband's Presence

    Mrs. Adelaide Spark, thirty-two
years old, wife of Clayton Spark of
No. 219 Main street, is dying at the
    DeGraff Memorial hospital in Tre-
mont street this afternoon from the
effects of a fose of carbolic acid
which she took while in the fit of
despondency at her home this morn-
ing. Family troubles are given as
the reason for the woman's act. Every
effort is being made at the hospital
to save the woman's life but the at-
    tending physicians say she cannot
    five.
It is said that Spark, who makes his
home in Sandusky, O., was try-
ing to get Mrs. Spark to return to
that city with him and it was while the
couple were having words, that Mrs.
Spark drank about an ounce of pure
carbolic acid. Sparks called Dr. Wil-
cox and every effort was made to
    save the woman. Hamp's auto-ambul-
ance was called and she was removed
to the Degraff hospital. Dr. F. W.
    Bentley assisted Dr. Wilcox.
    Mrs. Spark was formerly Mrs.
Dellia Zaggel, wife of George Zaggel
oi Tremont street. The couple separated
about five years ago, and a little
n.ore than a year ago, they were divorced.
    She was married about a
ago to Mr. Spark and moved to
Sandusky, O., where the couple lived
for some time. A few months ago,
according to rumors, the Sparks part-
ed and Mrs. Spark returned to th e
home of her mother at No. 219 Main
street, where she had since lived. Mr.
Spark came here about ten days ago
and had been living at the same place.
    Mrs. Spark has one daughter,
    Estella Zaggel, thirteen years old.
The child has been living with her
    grandmother on Main street.

Adelaide married ZAGGEL, George about 1904 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY, and was divorced on 26 Apr 1912 in North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY. George (son of ZAGGEL, Charles and ODE, Charlotte Wilhelmine Florentine) was born in 1870 in Niagara County, NY; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 4/29/1912

    Justice Lambert in Special Term
of the Supreme Court at Buffalo yesterday
handed down a decision in favor
of Mrs. Adele F. Zaggle of North
    Tonawanda who sued her husband,
George Zaggle of the same city, for
    divorce. An interlocutory judgment
    was granted. The Zaggles formerly
lived at No. 268 Tremont street. The
husband is employed as a machinist
at the Gillie Engine & Boiler Com-
    pany's plant on Tonawanda street.
    Sensational charges were made

against Zaggel by his wife. The two
free use of Zaggel's boot was the principal
cause which Mrs. Zaggel gave as
the start of the trouble. Besides this,
the complainant claimed to have found
that another woman was being ad-
mired by the man from whom she
    would separate.
    The Zaggel's were married here

eight years ago. They had one child,
a daughter, now four years of age.
Zaggel had a good position and was
earning enough money to have a com-
fortable home and a bank account. In-
    deed, everything seemed propitious for
the proverbal "happy life ever after"
until there came a change in the hus-
    band's disposition, so Mrs. Zaggel
says, about two years ago. He began
going out nights and returning home
in the early morning, she alleges and
    when she remonstrated, he abused
her. Finally, she declares, he kicked
her out, not only figuratively, but act-
ually. She returned, then he kicked
her out again and the kicking out pro-
cess later became a mania with him
so that one night, on being kicked out,
    she never came back.
    After the separation, Mrs. Zaggel

told the court that she heard stories
    of another woman, some mysterious
damsel of flashy appearance, living in
a road house. She did some detective
work of her own and finally presented
the evidence she had accumulatedd to
her lawyer. Thereupon an action for
divorce was started and yesterday Jus-
tice Lambert handed down the decid-
ion that set Mrs. Zaggel free.

    Children:
    1. ZAGGEL, Estella was born about 1911; and died.
