    Zion Evangelical Lutheran church,
    Tenth street and Michigan avenue,
    was the scene of a candlelight ser-
    vice, when the Rev. Arthur H.
    Schmoyer officiated at the doublering
    ceremony of Miss Verna Shearer,
    daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
    Shearer, Macklem avenue, and Q/3c
    Gerald Coates, USN. son of Mr. and
    Mrs. H. J. Coates. South avenue.
    The bride, given in marriage by
    her father, wore a ballerina-length
    gown of blush pink chantilly lace
    and net over taffeta. The shirred
    strapless bodice was topped by a
    long sleeved lace jacket. A lace
    apron edged in pleated net encircled
    the skirt. Her veil also was blush
    pink, falling from clusters of orange
    blossoms. She carried a white Bible
    covered with a corsage of white roses
    and streamers,
    Mrs. James Winker, sister of the
    bride, was the matron of honor. The
    Misses Lois and Gloria Miller were
    the bridesmaids. Their gowns were
    identical to the bride's, with the exception
    of the bodice, topped with
    lace capes and picture hats. The
    gowns were deep pink, blue and
    yellow, respectively. They carried
    Bibles covered with red roses and
    daisies.
    Mr. James Winker was'best man.
    with Mr. Robert Shearer, brother of
    the bride, and Q/3c Donald Shafer,
    USN, Syracuse, as ushers.
    Mr.- Frank Costantino was vocalist,
    accompanied at the organ by
    Miss Anne Oxley.
    The mothers of both bride and
    bridegroom .chose navy ensembles,
    with navy and pink accessories and
    complementary corsages.
    A reception for 250 guests was
    held at the bride's home. The young
    couple left for a wedding trip
    through the Adirondack mountains.
    Mrs. Coates wore a three piece
    outfit of rose and black check, black
    and white accessories and a white
    rose corsage.
