    A pretty wedding was solemnized

    in Salem Evangelical and Re
    formed Church on May 29 when
    Miss Joyce Eileen Miller, daugh
    fer of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Miller
    and Marlin Paul Wankasky, son
    of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wankasky

    of Carney street were united in
    marriage. The Rev. Walter F.
    Hetzel officiated at the double
    ring ceremony. Miss Leona Golde
    sang "O Promise Me" and "Because".
    Vases of white flowers on the
    altar, white beauty baskets, palms
    and candelabra were chancel decorations
    for the wedding.
    The bride, given in marriage by
    her father, was attired in a blue
    suit with white accessories and
    wore a white orchid corsage. Mrs.
    Frederick Hamm, attended as
    matron of honor. She wore an
    aqua suit with grey accessories
    and a gardenia and yellow rose
    cot sage.
    Bernard Wankasky attended his
    brother as best man and the ushers
    were Roland Miller and Frederick
    Hamm.
    The mother of the bride and
    bridegroom wore print crepe
    dresses and corsages of red roses
    and gardenias.
    Following the ceremony a reception
    was given in the home of
    the bride.
    Mr. and Mrs. Wankasky left for
    a wedding trip to New York and
    upon their return will be at home
    in 22 Carney street.

    The bride wore a blue plaid
    suit with brown accessories and
    a corsage of white sweet peas and
    red roses.
    She was attended by her sister
    Elaine, matron of honor who wore
    a beige suit with yellow accessories.
    Her bridesmaid, Miss Jerry
    Foster, was attired in a beige
    suit with purple accessories.
    The groom was attended by his
    brother Bernard, and Arnold Weaver
    of Crenshaw, Pa.
    Tba bride's mother wore a powder
    blue dresa with blue hat and
    aecearoriea The groom's mother
    chose a navy blue dress and blue
    accessories.
    The couple left for a short
    wedding trip and upon their return,
    Seaman Second Class Marlin
    Wanhasky left for New York
    City where he is stationed with
    the United States Coast Guard.

    A life long resident of the
    Tonawandas, Mr. Wankasky
    was a member of St. Francis
    of Assisi Church.
    He was employed for 18 years
    by the former Buffalo Bolt Co.
    retiring 10 years "ago. His wife,
    the former Mary Probst died
    in 1955.
    Mr. Wankasky is survived by
    two sons, Marlyn and Bernard
    Wankasky of the Tonawandas;
    two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence
    Penzein of Imlay City, Michigan
    and Mrs. Harold Cross of Port
    Colborne, Ont.; two brothers,
    Edwin Wankasky of. Buffalo,
    and William Wankasky of Osteen,
    Fla.; two sister's, Mrs.
    Amelia Barnes and Mrs. Herbert
    Ensminger, both of the
    Tonawandas.

    Monday at the Hamp Funeral

    The body of Mrs. Augusta Karkau,
    70 years old, a former resident of
    North Tonawanda. will arrive here this
    evening from Sanford, Fla., where she
    d i e d Thursday at the home of her
    daughter, Mrs. William J. Doyle, where
    she had been living the past year.
    Rites will be held Tuesday afternoon
    at 2:30 o'clock from the home of an-
    other daughter, Mrs. Amelia Baker,
    2 2 5 Miller street. Burial will be in
    St. Matthew's cemetery. Mrs. Karkau
    was bom in Germany. For 40 years
    she resided in North Tonawanda. Besides
    the two daughters named she
    leaves a third daughter, Mrs. Herbert
    Ensminger, Tonawanda; three sons,
    Paul, William and Edwin Wankasky,
    all of North Tonawanda, and 12
    grandchildren survive.

    wanda for the past 50 years. He
    is survived by his wife, Olga; two
    sons, William, Bay City, and Ber-
    nard, North Tonawanda, and two
    daughters, Mrs. Paul Wankasky,
    tonawanda, and Mrs. Lloyd Bras-
    saw, Buffalo. The funeral will
    be held tomorrow morning at 8:30
    o'clock and half an hour later
    from the St. Francis church. The
    Very Rev. John A. Weismantel
    will conduct the services and in-
    terment will be at the St. Francis
    cemetery.

    three daughers. Mrs. Gustsve Karkow
    and Mrs. William Werth of North
    Tonawanda. and Mrs. Ernest Kurkow
    of Rochester; two brothers. Au-
    gust Nedell of Reid City. Mich . and
    Frank Nedell of North Tonawanda;
    grandchildren snd seven great
    grandchildren survive. The funeral
    will be held Saturday afternoon at 2
    o'clock from the late residence and a
    half hour later from St. John's church

    brecht officiating. Burial will be in
    St. John's cemetery.
