1983) after a long illness. A
lifelong resident of the
Tonawandas before moving
to Florida, ten years ago.
she was the wife of the late
William L. Burgess who
died in 1972. Mrs. Burgess
operated the House of
Burgess Decorating Store
in Tonawanda before retiring
in 1953.
She is survived by her
husband Thomas B
Bertrand of Florida; two
daughters, Mrs. James
(Barbara) Hough of the
Town of Tonawanda: Mrs
Edward (Carol) Diehl of
Pa. ; a son William
(Judith) Burgess of North
Tonawanda: a sister Mrs.
Harriet Arenz and a
brother William (Betty)
Doyle, both of Florida an
Aunt Mrs. H e r b e rt
(Marion) Ensminger of
Tonawanda: also surviving
I are eleven grandchildren
and several nieces and
nephews.

Funeral Home Inc., Adam
and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda,
where funeral
services will be held at 1
p.m. Wednesday, the Rev
Kenneth Wood officiating.
Interment at Elmlawn

DOYLE - Mrs. Rose L. Doyle,
75, died at Seminole Memorial
Hospital on Wednesday (Aug. 5).
Born in Tonawanda on April 2,
1890, she made her home in Os-
teen, Fla., for the past 40 years.
She was the wife of the late Wil-
liam L. Doyle Sr. Surviving are
three children, Mrs. Leslie°Bur-
gess and Mrs. Harriet Arenz
both of Tonawanda and William
J. Doyle Jr. of Daytona Beach,
Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia
Barnes of North Tonawanda and
Mrs. Herbert Ensminger of Ton-
awanda; three brothers, Paul
Wankosky of Tonawanda, Edwin Tonawanda. Friends may call at
Wankosky of Buffalo, and Wil-
liam Wankosky of Osteen, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at
3 p.m. Saturday at the Brisson
Funeral Home in Sanford, Fla.

Gustav married WERTH, Auguste H about 1888. Auguste (daughter of WERTH, August and NEDELL, Henriette) was born in Mar 1869 in Pomerania, Germany; died on 4 Mar 1937 in Sanford, Seminole County, FL. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

The body of Mrs. Augusta Karkau,
70 years old, a former resident of
North Tonawanda. will arrive here this
evening from Sanford, Fla., where she
d i e d Thursday at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. William J. Doyle, where
she had been living the past year.
Rites will be held Tuesday afternoon
at 2:30 o'clock from the home of an-
other daughter, Mrs. Amelia Baker,
2 2 5 Miller street. Burial will be in
St. Matthew's cemetery. Mrs. Karkau
was bom in Germany. For 40 years
she resided in North Tonawanda. Besides
the two daughters named she
leaves a third daughter, Mrs. Herbert
Ensminger, Tonawanda; three sons,
Paul, William and Edwin Wankasky,
all of North Tonawanda, and 12
grandchildren survive.

Mra. Henrietta Werth. 71 years
old, died yesterday morning at the
home of her son. Henry Werth. on
the Nash road in the town of Wheat
field, after a long illness. Besides
Henry Werth, two sons, Ernest snd
Werth of North Tonawanda;
three daughers. Mrs. Gustsve Karkow
and Mrs. William Werth of North
Tonawanda. and Mrs. Ernest Kurkow
of Rochester; two brothers. Au-
gust Nedell of Reid City. Mich . and
Frank Nedell of North Tonawanda;
grandchildren snd seven great
grandchildren survive. The funeral
will be held Saturday afternoon at 2
o'clock from the late residence and a
half hour later from St. John's church
at St. Johnsburg. Re v . WilIiam Al-
brecht officiating. Burial will be in
St. John's cemetery.
