    Notes:

Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 3/19/1934

    Instantly killed at 1:45 o'clock
    yesterday morning when he was
run over in Main street by three
    speeding automobiles, Emory Ludwig,
    51, will be buried tomorrow
    afternoon in North Ridge cemetery
    after funeral services at 3:30
o'clock at the home of his brother,
Burt Ludwig, Beebe road, town of
    Wilson.
Police today were without a clue
to the identity of the motorists
    who continued east after passing
over the prostrate form of the man
who stumbled and fell in front of
    them while crossing Main street,
    midway between Pine and Cottage
    street, according to Delos Kunkel,
165 South Transit street, an eye
    witness.
    Ludwig's skull was badly crushed
and his body was taken direct to
the funeral home of Clemens Gaul,
    South Transit street. The Kennedy
    ambulance was called by police
but was not used when a preliminary
    examination revealed the
man was dead. Dr. F. A. Kittinger,
    coroner, plans to hold an
    inquest later.
    Although Kunkel and Harold
    Cross, 50 Chestnut street, another
    motorist, both reported seeing the
    hit-run automobiles, neither was
able to note the license numbers.
There was rain and snow in the air
at the time and visibility was poor.
By the-time the two witnesses of
the fatality had stopped to examine
the victim the other motorists bad
    passed out of sight.
    Kunkel told the police he
    driving west in Main
    he saw Ludwig
    the north to the
    way the man apparently stumbled
and fell in the path of the three
    automobiles. All three cars passed
    over the body, he said.
    Mr. Ludwig, who was employed
    by the Thatcher Manufacturing
    company in Michigan street, lived
in the Niagara hotel, Niagara and
    South Transit streets. He came
to Lockport from Newfane about 14
    years ago.
    Surviving him are his wife,
    Sadie Ludwig, Newfane; a daughter,
    Mabel, Chicago; and three
    brothers, George and Burt, Wilson,
    and Glenn, Buffalo.

Emory married BRANDT, Sarah C about 1903. Sarah (daughter of BRANDT, Herman and KRULL, Anna) was born in Sep 1886 in New York; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
