    LOCKPORT - Norman R. Capell, of Lockport, passed away March 8, 2011 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born in Royalton on January 30, 1917, he was the son of Raymond and Ruth (Osmond) Capell.

    He was a graduate from Barker High School in 1936 and worked at Lockport Felt retiring in 1982 after 26 years and served as a Town of Somerset Assessor for 16 years. Norman was a lifetime member of the Barker Lion's Club, serving five years as treasurer, was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he formerly served as a trustee.

    Norman is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Behm) Capell, whom he married on August 9, 1941; father of Pamela (Peerce Lake) Harper of Florida and Douglas (Sue) Capell of Gasport; grandfather of Matthew of Pennsylvania and Maggie of Gasport; best buddy Shadow. He was predeceased by twin sons, David and Dale Capell; and his son-in-law, Stanley Harper.

    There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at later date. Donations to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Barker's Lions Club would be appreciated.

    Evelyn I. Capell, of Lockport, passed away February 9, 2017. Born in Lockport on December 8, 1918, she was the daughter of John and Lilian (Hellert) Behm. She was a graduate of Lockport High School in 1937 and worked as a bookkeeper before retiring from Marine Midland Bank in 1979. Evelyn moved to Barker when she married the late Norman Capell on August 9, 1941. She especially enjoyed the company of her granddaughter.

    Evelyn is survived by her children Pamela (Peerce Lake) Harper of Florida and Douglas (Sue) Capell of Gasport; grandmother of Matthew (Julianna Kiley) and Maggie Capell; brother-in-law Everett Fitchlee; and Ella. She was pre-deceased by twin sons Dale and David, siblings Elton Behm, Geraldine Waters, Mildred Eick, Delbert Behm, Ruth Fitchlee, Iverna Behm, Harold Behm, and Marilyn Gauda.

    The family would like to thank Heritage Manor and Niagara Hospice for their thoughtful care.

    A beautiful wedding ceremony was solemnized Saturday
    at 4 o'clock in the Trinity Lutheran church, Lockport, when
    the Rev. Herman Meier united in marriage Miss Evelyn Behm,
    daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Behm of Stone road, Lockport
    and Norman R. Capell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
    H. Capell of Hosmer road, Hartland.
    The organist was Erwin Rein-
    holtz and Mrs. Harold Meier sang
    "Because" and "O, Perfect Love."
    The bride's gown, worn over slipper
    satin, was fashioned of rose
    point lace bodice, with sweetheart
    neckline, puffed sleeves and full
    skirt of lace net which formed a
    long train. She wore a finger-tip
    length veil of illusion caught to a
    coronet of orange blossoms. She
    wore a single strand of pearls and
    carried an arm bouquet of white
    roses, gladioli and gypsophila.
    Sister la Maid Of Honor
    Miss Iverna Behm, sister of the
    bride, was maid of honor and Miss
    Shirley Waters, niece of the bride
    and small daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
    Leslie Waters of Middleport, was
    flower girl. Miss Behm's dress was
    of orchid musseline de aoie made on
    princess lines with sweetheart neckline
    and she carried an arm bouquet
    of yellow roses, orchid delphinum
    and gypsophila. She wore a
    crescent of yellow rose buds in her
    hair. The flower girl wore a floorlength
    gown of white marquisette
    trimmed with orchid ribbon and
    carried a colonial bouquet of white
    roses and orchid sweet peas.
    The bridesmaids, Miss Ruth
    Behm, sister of the bride and Miss
    Grace Mary Kinyon of Burt, cousin
    of the groom, wore dresses fashioned
    like that of the maid of
    honor. Miss Behm wore yellow
    musseline de soie and Miss Kenyon
    wore aqua. Their arm bouquets
    were of talisman roses, blue delphinium
    and gypsophila. Both wore!
    crescents of talisman roses.
    Mr. Capell's beat man was his
    cousin, David Smith of Hartland.
    Ushers were Delbert Behm, brother
    of the bride, and Floyd Hetherley
    of North Hartland, cousin of the
    groom.
    Owing to the illness of the bride's
    father, she was given4n,marriage by
    her brother, Elton Behm. The
    mother of the bride wore navy crepe
    with navy accessories and the
    groom's mother wore perwinUe
    shadow chiffon with black accessories.
    Both wore corsages of gardenias.
    White and orchid gladioli and
    ferns decorated the church, the
    altar being lighted with white
    tapers.
    Dinner Served To 60
    Following the ceremony, dinner
    was served in the parish hall to 60
    relatives and friends with nine
    seated at the bride's table which
    was centered with a four-tiered
    bride's cake with white tapers in
    crystal holders at either end.
    Garden flowers were used throughout
    the room-
    Later a reception was held at the
    home of the bride to 100 guests.
    Mr. and Mrs. Capell left for a
    trip to the New England states, the
    bride wearing a delft blue dress
    with brown accessories. They will
    reside on the Hosmer road, where
    their new home is being constructed.
    Guests were present from Barker,
    Hartland, Middleport, North Tonawmnda,
    Medina, Burt and Kenmore.
    Pre-nuptlal events included: A
    bedroom shower given by Mrs. Leslie
    Waters and Mrs. Wllbert Kick;
    a black and white kitchen shower
    given by Miss Grace Kenyon; a variety
    shower given by Mrs. Raymond
    Capell.
    A variety shower, given by the
    Misses Iverma and Ruth Behm; a
    variety shower given by Mrs. Myron
    Suteh and Mrs. Raymond Walker
    at the home of Mrs. Suteh at North
    Hartland and a dinner for the bridal
    party given by Mrs. Harriet Smith
    of Hartland.

    BEHM – John A. Behm, 74, a carpenter, died suddenly at his home on Stone Rd., Town of Lockport, Sunday, Nov. 23, 1952. Husband of Lillian, nee Hellert; father of Mrs. Leslie Waters of Lyndonville, Mrs. Wilbert Eick of Lockport, Mrs. Norman Capell of Appleton, Ivernia Behm of Buffalo, Mrs. Everett Fitchlee of Lockport, Marilyn Behm at home, Elton A., Delbert J., and Harold A. Behm of Lockport; grandfather of 15; brother of Mrs. George Klemer of North Tonawanda, Mrs. Bertha Hahn of Tonawanda, Berhardt Behm of Largo, Fla., Frank and Albert Behm of North Tonawanda. Funeral services will be at the Prudden Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1952. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, North Ridge.

    A 72-year-old Lockport woman,
    Mrs. Lillian Behm, died this
    morning (Feb. 6, 1960) in Inter-
    Community Memorial Hospital,
    Newfane. She was taken there
    by the Fire Department First Aid
    Squad Friday afternoon after she
    was refused admission to Lock
    port Memorial Hospital because
    the hospital was filled.
    The firemen answered a call at
    4:10 Friday afternoon when Mrs.
    Behm experienced difficulty
    breathing in the home of her
    daughter. Mrs. WlBwt E&3r, M
    Akron St.
    When the woman failed to respond
    to an inhalator, she was
    rushed to the Lockport hospital
    and then to the Newfane hospital.
    Dr. George H. Barone, chief of
    the medical staff at Memorial
    Hospital, explained today that
    when Mrs. Behm arrived, all
    rooms were filled.
    The doctor said that in some
    emergency cases a bed can be
    set up in a hallway, but that
    Mrs. Behm had suffered a heart
    attack and needed an oxygen
    tent.
    State law prohibits hospitals
    from setting up oxygen tents in
    corridors, Dr. Barone explained.
    Buffalo General Hospital was
    contacted but also was unable to
    accept Mrs. Behm, Dr. Barone
    said. The Lockport hospital then
    made arrangements for her admission
    at Newfane.
    Mrs. Behm, the former Lillian
    Hellert, was the widow of John
    A. Behm, who died in November
    1952. Formerly of 1199 Stone Rd.,
    she had been a Town of Lockport
    resident for the past 30 years.
    Mrs. Behm was a member of
    Trinity Lutheran Church.
    Surviving are six daughters,
    Mrs. Leslie Waters of Lyndon-'
    ville; Mrs. Eick; Mrs. Everett
    Fitchlee, and Mrs. Robert Dodge,
    all of Lockport; Mrs. Norman
    Capell of Appleton, and Miss Iverna
    Behm of Buffalo; three sons,
    Elton A.. Delbert J. and Haftld
    A. Behm, all of Lockport; a
    brother, John Hellert of Medina;
    19 grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren
    and several nieces
    and nephews.
    The Rev. Ernest E. Heuer, pastor
    of Trinity Lutheran Church,
    will officiate at services in the
    Prudden and Kandt Funeral
    Home, 242 Genesee St., at 2
    Monday afternoon. Burial will be
    in North Ridge Lutheran Cemetery.

    LOCKPORT. Mar. 14-Mrs. Auguste
    Behm, 79 years old, widow of the late
    Auguste Behm, of Cambria, died late
    yesterday at her home in the Lower
    Mountain road, Cambria, following a
    long illness.
    Mrs. Behm came to this country
    from Germany 52 years ago and spent
    the greater part of her life In Niagara
    county. She was an active member
    of the German Lutheran church at
    North Ridge.
    She is survived by four sons, John
    A. Behm of Cambria, Bernard A.,
    Frank F. and Albert A. Behm, all of
    North Tonawanda, and three daughters,
    Mrs. Albert Hahn, Cambria; Mrs.
    C. Nogel, Lockport; and Mrs. George
    Elemer. of North Tonawanda. One
    brother, Albert Hidde, Niagara Falls,
    also survives.
    Funeral services will be held from
    the home Wedneseday afternoon at
    1:30 o'clock and at 2 o'clock from the
    North Ridge German Lutheran
    church, the Rev. John Barkow. officiating.
    Burial will be in North
    Ridge cemetery.
