    Jeffrey D. Witkop

    Niagara Gazette

    ROCHESTER —
On July 7, 2013, I passed from the land of the dying into the land of the truly living. Heaven is now my home and there is no more sorrow, no more grief, no more tears. When you read this, I will already be enjoying eternal life with my Lord and Savior Jesus. However, as I write these words I grieve about leaving my loved ones behind. They include my beloved wife of 34 years, Dawn (Henry) Witkop, who has been my rock, along with my dear son and daughter, Adam Witkop, and Kristen Witkop. I also leave behind much loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law along with numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
I will skip the part where I list all of my life's accomplishments because they don't mean much after death. In fact, they don't mean much now as I type these words. Instead I will share with you something of the utmost importance.
Life is indeed short and no one knows when their time here will be up. It is my prayer that you won't face death without knowing Jesus. The Bible states that the wages of sin is death. We are all sinners and would be condemned to an eternity in Hell if it weren't for Jesus. Jesus is the Son of God and was sent to Earth to take the just punishment for our sin as our substitute. He rose from the dead to show His victory over sin and death. To be forgiven, all we have to do is accept Jesus as our Savior. Jesus did the rest. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM on Thursday, July 11th at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane, Rochester (between Rte. 390 & Long Pond Rd.) The memorial service will be at 2 PM on Friday, July 12th at Hope Lutheran Church, 1301 Vintage Lane, Rochester. Niagara Gazette

NIAGARA FALLS — Lorraine M. (Wendt) Witkop, age 80, was called to her heavenly home on March 10, 2011 at the Hurlbut Nursing Home, Henrietta, NY, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was formerly of Lockport Road in Sanborn.

Despite the loss of her husband, Kenneth Witkop in 1974 at an early age, and her numerous hardships and health problems, it is difficult to think of a time in which she complained and how three of these remained: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love- 1 Corinthians 13:13.

If a life is to be measured by personal possessions, her life missed the mark. But if life is to be measured by Faith in a risen Savior, Hope in eternal life and Love to all, then her life was rich indeed, and we are richer for having known her. Lorraine was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, where she was active with the Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and loved children.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey (Dawn) Witkop of Rochester; two grandchildren, Adam Kenneth Witkop and Kristen Marie Witkop; two brothers, Ronald and Joel Wendt; two sisters, Jane Kroening and Marlyn Gross; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Saturday from 6-8 PM and Sunday 1-3 and 5-7 PM. Services will be conducted in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda on Monday, March 14th at 11:00 AM. Interment in the Wheatfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School.
