    Rites Tomorrow for John Karkau, Life-long Twin City Resident
    NORTH TONAWANDA - Oct. 25 - John Karkau, 52 years old, building contractor, died Saturday night at his home, 94 Keil street. He was a life-long resident of North Tonawanda. He was a member of the Friedens church, the North Tonawanda Labor association, the Active Hose compnay and the North Tonawanda firemen's benevolent association. Survivng are his wife, Minnie, nee Ostwald; two sons, Laverne and Milford; a daughter, Loraine, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Schultz.
    Rites will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence. The Rev. Theodore Mayer will officiate and burial will be in Friedens cemetery

    Martin Karkau, 89 years old, one of the pioneer residents of North Tonawanda, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Schultz, at No. 140 Keil street, this morning after a brief illness. He was born in Germany. Three daughters, Mrs. Schultz and Mrs. William Janowsky of North Tonawanda and Mrs. William Thoman of Ellsworth, Wis; two sons, Gustave and John Karkau of North Tonawanda, and one brother, William Karkau of North Tonawanda survive. The funeral will be held from the Friedens church on Sunday afternoon.

    Martin Karkau, eighty nine years old a resident of the Tonawandas for many years, died early this morning at his home at No. 140 Keil street. His death was unexpected and followed an illness with which he was stricken last evening. Mr. Karkau was born in Germany and came to America at the age of fifty-two. He located in the Tonawandas. where he continued to live the rest of his life. He is survived by two sons. John and Gustave Karkau of North Tonawanda, three daughters Mrs. William Janowsky and Mrs. Fred Schultz of North Tonawanda and Mrs. William Thom of Ellsworth, Wis., fifteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one brother, William Karkau of North Tonawanda. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the late residence and half an hour later from Frieden's church at the corner of Vandervoort and Schenk streets, Rev. K. A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be made in the Frieden's cemetery. Dr. M. F. Nolan, who was called to attend Mr. Karkau last night, round the man suffering from a blockage of some of the vital organs.

    ANOTHER DEATH
    Mrs. Catherine Karkau Succumbs to the Grim Monster
    Mrs. Catherine Karkau died at her home on Schenck street yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the age of 53 years. The cause of death was stomach trouble. The deceased came to this country from Germany thirteen years ago and immediately settled in North Tonawanda. Mrs. Karkau leaves a husband, who is employed by Smith, Fassett & Co., and six children, three sons and three daughters. One of the latter, Miss May, aged 13 years, is lying seriously ill with typhoid fever. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon, the service being held at the home at 1 o'clock and at Frieden's church at 2 o'clock.
