NIAGARA FALLS - A funeral service for Dorothy "Ruth" Schul, 88, of Niagara Falls, a longtime foster mother, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in Acacia Park, Pendleton.
Mrs. Schul died Thursday (April 24, 2003) in her home.

Born Dorothy Hilts in Niagara Falls, she was mother to more than 25 foster children.

She enjoyed gardening and traveling, and volunteered at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was also a member of the Town of Niagara Historical Society and worked on the Board of Elections.

Her husband of 54 years, Gordon A., died in 1987.

Survivors include four sons, Lloyd of Clearwater, Fla., and Warren, Ross and Scott, all of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Judy Kifer of Bergholz; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The marriage of Miss Dorothy Ruth Hilts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. JosphA. Hilts, of the town of Niagara, to Gordon Andrew Schul, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Schul, of the Tuscarora road, was solemnized in the Church of Christ, Niagara avenue, this city, the Rev. T. E. Tomerlin officiating.
The bride was lovely in a blue silk gown trimmed with cream lace and she carried white and yellow chrysanthemum.
They were attended by Miss Esther Schul and Willard H. Bent.
Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served in the church dining room, of which Mrs. Mamie Prindle is in charge. The table, which was laid for 24 guests, was attractively centered with chrysanthemums and a wedding cake.

James Howard Fisher Sr. 74, of Naples Florida passed away peacefully on March 24th in loving care of Avow Hospice.

James was born October 5, 1941, raised in Niagara Falls, New York. He left to become a State Trooper in 1968 and continued to work in Rochester for 25 years at Eastman Kodak, retiring in 1998 to Naples Florida. In Naples, he worked for the Naples Power Boat Marina and was last working at Bear-Paws Security. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and being outside.

He is predeceased by Constance (Clapsaddle) Fisher and Charles Fisher.

James left behind a son, James H. Fisher Jr.; a daughter, Michelle (Fisher) Schul; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A brother Dale (Anita) Messing, a sister Sandy (Jim) Morton and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A family and friends gathering will be held April 25th from 2-5 pm at American Legion Post 1451, 6525 Ward Road Sanborn, New York 14132.

who died Thursday (May 7,

1970) in Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Elmwood, Ont., Mr.

Schul moved, to Niagara County

with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Charles Schul, in 1897 and had

resided here'ever since.

He was a thresher and a .former

superintendent of.highways

in the Town of Niagara. He was

a 1rti«nber of hte First Baptist

Church in Sanborn.

He is survived by his widow,

Lily Schul; there sons, Gordon;

Raymond and Paul Schul, all of

Niagara Falls; five daughters,

Mrs. George (Esther) Shepherd,

Niagara Falls; Mrs, John

(Doris) O'Connor, North Tonawanda;

Mrs. Robert (Miriam)

Bower, Sanborn; Mrs. Roger

(Ruth) Reedy, Rockford, 111.,

and Mrs. Aubrey (Anita) Ward,

Burt; two brothers, Ernest

Schul, Town of Niagara, and

William Schul, Niagara Falls;

25 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren

and s e v e r al

niece sand nephews.

His wife, Flora Laur Schul,

died in 1949.

Funeral services will be held

Monday at 11 a.m. at the

Grimes Funeral Home with the

Rev. James P. Kenyon of First

Baptist Church, Sanborn, officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial

Park Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to

the Memorial Fund at First

Baptist Church.

Friends may call at the funeral

home today and Sunday from

2 to 9 p.m.
