    LEWISTON — Leona Kane Shipston passed away, peacefully, April 9, 2011, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home in Lewiston, NY. She was born on February 8, 1918 in Niagara Falls, NY. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Eley) Kane.

    Leona attended Holy Rosary and Niagara Falls High School. She married her high school sweetheart, George W. Shipston, on January 18, 1941. He predeceased her on August 24, 2004. Leona worked for Household Finance and then the Tiger Supply Company with George, until they retired in 1980 to travel across America.

    Leona was an avid Scrabble enthusiast, loved reading and was accomplished in the arts of Danish needle painting, ceramics and Faberge Eggs, as well as being a fabulous cook. She especially loved spending time with her family.

    Leona was loved and adored by George for 63 years and her children, David (Sheila Netzer) Shipston, who predeceased her on March 31, 2001, Georgia Lee Davis of San Antonio, TX and JoAnn (Edwin) Kerins of Youngstown, NY. Leona is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard (Lizette) Davis, Timothy (Lorri) Shipston, Wendy Jo (David Louis) Hudler, Laura (Joseph) Whittington, Stephen Davis, Katharine (Kevin) Guthrie, Edwin J. Kerins and James Kerins. Her great-grandchildren are Sadie Mae, Dahlton, Landon, Colton, David, Grant, Chesney Jane, Cole, Sierra Grace, Miriamne and Monique. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Agnes Bourque, Bertha McGee, Florence Reed, Hilda Bale, Frank, Andrew and Thomas Kane.

    Leona had a generous, nurturing and loving soul that enriched the lives of her family, friends and neighbors, and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

    The family will be present on Friday from 5-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, Lewiston, NY, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made in Leona's name to Our Lady of Peace Activity Fund, 5285 Lewiston, NY 14092. Inurnment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

    Clark Shipston, a. former City Councilman and coal
    dealer, died today (Nov. ,8, 1961) in his home, Lake
    Road, Youngstown, after a long illness. He was 80 years
    old.
    Born in Niagara Falls, he
    lived in this city until seven
    years ago when he moved to
    Youngstown. He was married
    to the former Esther Donaby
    in 1903.
    A coal dealer for about 50
    years in Whirlpool Street, Mr.
    Shipston was president of the
    Tiger Supply Co., which he
    started about 1925. For about
    30 years he was interested in
    farming and had a cattle farm
    at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
    Mr. Shipston was a member
    of the old Ongiara Club. He
    served as a city councilman
    from 1924 to 1928.
    He was a member of Niag
    ara River Lodge 132, F&AM.
    Besides his widow, he is
    survived by three daughters,
    Mrs. Edith Whaley and Miss
    Edther Anne Shipston, both of
    Youngstown, and Mrs. Ruth
    Hulst of columbus, Ohio; two
    sons, George W. Shipston of
    this city and Thomas D. Ship-
    ston of Snyder; three broth-
    ers, Fred Shipston of this city,
    Edmund Shipston of North
    Tonawanda and George Ship-
    ston of Somerville, N.J., and
    six grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be at
    the Cornell and Daggett Chap-
    el Saturday at 1 p.m. with
    Rev. John E. Wickenden of
    the Episcopal Church of the
    Epiphany officiating. Inter-
    ment will be in Riverdale
    Cemetery.
    The funeral home will be
    open after 2 p.m. Thursday.

    Mrs. Esther Anne Shipston,
    92, of Lake Road, Youngstown,
    died Friday night (Dec. 5, 1969)
    in Memorial Hospital after a
    lengthy illness.
    She was born in Albany and
    came to this city in 1887 and
    married her husband, the late
    Clark Shipston in 1901. He died
    in 1961.
    He was the former owner of
    the Tiger Supply Co., which is
    now operated by his son.
    She was a member of the
    Epiphany Episcopal Church.
    She is survived by three
    daughters, Mrs. Edith Whaley,
    Miss Esther Ann Shipston, both
    of Youngstown; and Mrs. Ruth
    Hulst, of Columbus, Ohio; two
    sons, Thomas D. Shipston of
    Snyder, and George William
    Shipston of this city; and six
    grandchillren and five greatgrandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    in the Cornell and Daggett
    Chapel Monday at 11 a.m., the
    Rev. John E. Wickondln officiating.
    Interment will be in
    Riverdale Cemetery

    Mrs. Hannah Shipston,
    Passes at'Her Home.

    Mrs. Hannah Shipston, 85 years old,
    resident of Niagara Falls for many
    years, died at her home. 4002 Carrol
    avenue, early today, following a brief
    Illness. The funeral will be held from
    the family home Monday afternoon at
    2:30 o'clock, the Rev. David Henry
    Weeks officiating. Burial wiU be in
    Riverdale cemetery.
    Mrs. Shipston was* born In MorJey,
    Yorkshire, England, and came to this
    country when she was young. She had
    won for herself a host of friends during
    her long residence In Niagara Falls.
    Her husband, the late Thomas Shipston,
    died a number of years ago. Mrs.
    Shipston was a member of the Church
    of the Epiphany and was held In high
    esteem throughout the community. She
    was injured recently when she tripped
    over a carpet and' fell in her home.
    She Is survived by one daughter,
    Miss Jane Shipston, this city, and five
    sons, Fred, Clark and George Shipston,
    of this city; Edmund Shipston, of
    Youngstown, and Albert Shipston, of
    New York City.

    Richard Donaby.
    Niagara Falls, Oct. 27.—This morning at
    0 o'clock Richard Donaby, superintendent
    of car repairs at this point for the New
    York Central, dropped dead in his office
    in the lower'Central yards. The cause of
    death was heart failure. He was born hi
    England, December 5, 1835, and was,
    therefore, about ti8 years old. He came to
    Niagara Falls from Albany twenty-eight
    years ago, and had always been in the employ
    of the New York Central. He was a
    mechanic of acknowledged ability and a
    man respected by ail. He is survived by
    three daughters, Mrs. George A. Watson,
    Mrs. Clark Shipston, Miss Edna
    Donaby, and one SOB, John.' The family
    home is at No. 2,340 Lockport street. He
    was a member of Niagara River Lodge,
    No. 785, F. and A. M.
