    LEWISTON — Leona Kane Shipston passed away, peacefully, April 9, 2011, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home in Lewiston, NY. She was born on February 8, 1918 in Niagara Falls, NY. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Eley) Kane.

    Leona attended Holy Rosary and Niagara Falls High School. She married her high school sweetheart, George W. Shipston, on January 18, 1941. He predeceased her on August 24, 2004. Leona worked for Household Finance and then the Tiger Supply Company with George, until they retired in 1980 to travel across America.

    Leona was an avid Scrabble enthusiast, loved reading and was accomplished in the arts of Danish needle painting, ceramics and Faberge Eggs, as well as being a fabulous cook. She especially loved spending time with her family.

    Leona was loved and adored by George for 63 years and her children, David (Sheila Netzer) Shipston, who predeceased her on March 31, 2001, Georgia Lee Davis of San Antonio, TX and JoAnn (Edwin) Kerins of Youngstown, NY. Leona is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard (Lizette) Davis, Timothy (Lorri) Shipston, Wendy Jo (David Louis) Hudler, Laura (Joseph) Whittington, Stephen Davis, Katharine (Kevin) Guthrie, Edwin J. Kerins and James Kerins. Her great-grandchildren are Sadie Mae, Dahlton, Landon, Colton, David, Grant, Chesney Jane, Cole, Sierra Grace, Miriamne and Monique. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Agnes Bourque, Bertha McGee, Florence Reed, Hilda Bale, Frank, Andrew and Thomas Kane.

    Leona had a generous, nurturing and loving soul that enriched the lives of her family, friends and neighbors, and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

    The family will be present on Friday from 5-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, Lewiston, NY, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be made in Leona's name to Our Lady of Peace Activity Fund, 5285 Lewiston, NY 14092. Inurnment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.

    LEWISTON — Margaret (Archbold) Netzer, 89, of Wheatfield, NY, formerly of 93rd Street, Niagara Falls, NY, entered her heavenly home Saturday, December 3, 2011, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, NY. Born March 29, 1922 in Niagara Falls, NY, the eldest daughter of George and Kathleen (Kinnahan) Archbold, who are registered in the Ellis Island (Irish) immigrant Wall of Honor.

    Mrs. Netzer graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1940 and also attended classes at the University of Cincinnati, OH. She worked briefly in the payroll department at Carborundum Corporation in Niagara Falls, before moving to Washington, D.C., where she began working for the United States Army War Department at the Pentagon. She relocated to Cincinnati, OH, continuing to work for the Personnel Division of the War Department, for approximately three years. Margaret transferred to Fort Niagara Personnel Dept. in Lewiston, where she worked until its closing, and at which time she began working for the Veterans Administration Office in Niagara Falls, NY.

    Margaret married Thomas C. Netzer on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1947 at St. Teresa's Church, Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Netzer predeceased her in June 2006 after 58 great years of marriage. Mrs. Netzer created a comfortable, well-run home, and was blessed with a close and caring family. She loved spending time with her friends, but focused most of her time with her great family.

    Margaret volunteered at the VA Western NY Health Care Center for 22 years, in the emergency and administration office as a Red Cross worker. She was a member and past officer of the Altar & Rosary Society and the Mother's Club of Prince of Peace Church, and also a member of Senior Citizens of St. John de LaSalle Church. Margaret was active in the CFM-Christian Family Movement for several years.

    Margaret will be sadly missed by son, Thomas Mark (Barbara) Netzer of West Chester, PA; daughters, Sheila (late David) Shipston of Eleanor, WV, Margee (Ronald) Zito of Wheatfield, NY and Joan (Anthony) Filardo of Palm Coast, FL; grandchildren, Timothy, Laura, Jenne, Christine, James, Lori, Ronald, Jacquelyn, John, Leigh and Janelle; great-grandchildren, Landon, David, Grant, Tessa, Carmella, Cole, Aiden, Trenton, Nolan, Marina, Lucianna, Gina, Theresa and Faustina; one brother, John J. Archbold of Niagara Falls, NY; one sister, Kathleen Devine of Buffalo, NY. She was predeceased by two sisters, Teresa Wolosin and Mary Whalen; one brother, George J. Archbold, Jr. Margaret is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be missed by her many great friends at Weinberg Campus and at Crestwood Commons, Wheatfield, NY.

    Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.     Clark Shipston, a. former City Councilman and coal
    dealer, died today (Nov. ,8, 1961) in his home, Lake
    Road, Youngstown, after a long illness. He was 80 years
    old.
    Born in Niagara Falls, he
    lived in this city until seven
    years ago when he moved to
    Youngstown. He was married
    to the former Esther Donaby
    in 1903.
    A coal dealer for about 50
    years in Whirlpool Street, Mr.
    Shipston was president of the
    Tiger Supply Co., which he
    started about 1925. For about
    30 years he was interested in
    farming and had a cattle farm
    at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
    Mr. Shipston was a member
    of the old Ongiara Club. He
    served as a city councilman
    from 1924 to 1928.
    He was a member of Niag
    ara River Lodge 132, F&AM.
    Besides his widow, he is
    survived by three daughters,
    Mrs. Edith Whaley and Miss
    Edther Anne Shipston, both of
    Youngstown, and Mrs. Ruth
    Hulst of columbus, Ohio; two
    sons, George W. Shipston of
    this city and Thomas D. Ship-
    ston of Snyder; three broth-
    ers, Fred Shipston of this city,
    Edmund Shipston of North
    Tonawanda and George Ship-
    ston of Somerville, N.J., and
    six grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be at
    the Cornell and Daggett Chap-
    el Saturday at 1 p.m. with
    Rev. John E. Wickenden of
    the Episcopal Church of the
    Epiphany officiating. Inter-
    ment will be in Riverdale
    Cemetery.
    The funeral home will be
    open after 2 p.m. Thursday.

    Mrs. Esther Anne Shipston,
    92, of Lake Road, Youngstown,
    died Friday night (Dec. 5, 1969)
    in Memorial Hospital after a
    lengthy illness.
    She was born in Albany and
    came to this city in 1887 and
    married her husband, the late
    Clark Shipston in 1901. He died
    in 1961.
    He was the former owner of
    the Tiger Supply Co., which is
    now operated by his son.
    She was a member of the
    Epiphany Episcopal Church.
    She is survived by three
    daughters, Mrs. Edith Whaley,
    Miss Esther Ann Shipston, both
    of Youngstown; and Mrs. Ruth
    Hulst, of Columbus, Ohio; two
    sons, Thomas D. Shipston of
    Snyder, and George William
    Shipston of this city; and six
    grandchillren and five greatgrandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    in the Cornell and Daggett
    Chapel Monday at 11 a.m., the
    Rev. John E. Wickondln officiating.
    Interment will be in
    Riverdale Cemetery

    1293 93rd St., a resident of
    Niagara Falls for 53 years,
    died Friday (April 5, 1963) in
    Redwood City, Calif.
    He had been visiting at the
    home of his son, George J.
    Archbold Jr.^ since November.
    Mr. Archbold was born in
    County Wexford, Ireland, and
    came to this country in 1910.
    He had lived in Niagara Falls
    since that time.
    He was employed as a silver
    buffer for Oneida Community
    Plate in Niagara Falls, Ont.,
    for 17 years. He then went to
    work as a machinist for Niagara
    Mohawk, retiring seven
    years ago.
    A veteran of World War I,
    he was gassed and wounded
    while fighting in the Argonne
    forest in n o r t h e a s t e rn
    France. He was a member of
    the LaSalle-Griffin Veterans
    of Foreign Wars Post 917.
    and the Holy Name Society of
    Prince of Peace Church.
    In a d d i t i o n to his son
    George, Mr. Archbold is survived
    by another son, John J.,
    of Niagara Falls; four daughters,
    Mrs. Thomas Netzer, Niagara
    Falls, Mrs. Michael De
    vine and Mrs Thomas Whalen
    both of Buffalo, and Mrs.
    Charles Wolosin of Syracuse,
    and 29 grandchildren

    Mrs. Katherine Archbold, 54, of 1218
    College avenue, who died yesterday,
    will be sung at St. Teresa's church
    at 9 a.m. on Wednesday after ser-
    vices at the Rhoney Funeral home
    at 8:15 o'clock.
    Mrs. Archbold died at Mt. St.
    Mary's hospital Saturday following
    a heart attack suffered at her home.
    Born in Ireland, Mrs. Archbold
    had lived in Niagara Falls for the
    last 30 years. She was a mem-
    ber of the Altar and Rosary soci-
    ety at St. Teresa's church.
    Surviving are her husband,
    George; two sons, John and George,
    Jr., this city; four daughters, Mrs.
    Charles Wilson and Miss Mary
    Archbold, this city, Mrs. Michael Di-
    vine, Buffalo, and Mrs. Thomas
