    NEWFANB, April 22-The death
    of William Brado at his home In
    Newfane last "Saturday removes a
    figure that has long been familiar to
    t h i s vicinity. Coming to this country
    from Germany when he was six
    years old, he was thrown upon his
    own resources early In life, and be-
    gan to shift for 'himself at the age
    of 12. His home had always been
    In Niagara County. He was married
    to Elizabeth Plain in 1863 and at
    the outbreak of the Civil war he en-
    listed and saw service from 1861 to
    1862. He re-enlisted within three
    weeks and served till 1886, and was
    in 27 battles. He was with the third
    N e w York cavalry. His wife died In
    January, 1907. His death leaves but
    three or four veterans of ths Civil
    War remaining in the township. Five
    sons and two daughters survive him:
    William ,T. and Charles of Cambria;
    Frank. Lewis and Bert of Newfane,
    and Mrs. Ella. Brimmer of Lockport
    and Mrs. Alice Smith of Schenectady,
    The funeral was held on Monday afternoon.

    William married PLAIN, Elizabeth in 1863. Elizabeth was born about 1842 in England; died in Jan 1907. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
