    WESTPHAL - Juliana E. (nee
    Ullrich) Westphal, 80, of Tonawanda,
    Sunday, (September 14, 1986) at
    DeGraff Memorial Hospital. A
    native of Tonawanda, she was the
    sister of the late Eleanor Wein. Mrs.
    Westphal had been employed as
    cafeteria manager at Tonawanda
    Senior High Schoool for 15 years
    retiring in 1974. She was a member
    of Salem United Church of Christ
    where she served on many committees,
    past president of the Salem
    League and the Women's Guild,
    Sunday School teacher for more
    than 25 years, a member of the
    Philathea Class for 65 years and a 60
    year member of Sirius Chapter 301
    OES.
    She is survived by her husband,
    Clifford S. Westphal; a daughter,
    Mrs. Gordon H. (Diane) Beebe of
    Fairport, NY and two grandchildren
    Kevin D. Beebe and Beth Ann
    Beebe, also of Fairport, NY; two
    sisters, Mrs. Harold (Electa) Wolter
    of Medina, NY and Mrs. Thomas J.
    (Orma Mae) Lee of Terry Miss.;
    also survived by several nieces,
    nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
    Friends may call TUESDAY
    ONLY 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at John O.
    Roth Funeral Home Inc., Morgan
    and William' Streets, Tonawanda.
    Funeral services will be held at
    Salem United Church of Christ
    Wednesday, September 17 at 11:30
    a.m. The Rev. Richard H. Trump
    will officiate. Burial will be in
    Elmlawn Cemetery. If desired memorial

    A pretty fall Wedding was
    solemnized at St. Benedict's
    Church, Eggertsville, recently,
    when Miss Diane Ruth
    Westphal, daughter of Mr.
    and Mrs. Clifford S. Westphal,
    228 Young St., became
    the bride of Gordon H.
    Beebe, son of Mrs. Clyde
    Beebe of 438 Ivyhurst, Eggertsville.
    The Rt. Rev. William F. Tobin
    officiated at the double ring ceremony
    before an altar banked with
    bouquets of gladiolias, chrysanthemums
    and palms.
    The bride, given in marriage by
    her father, wore a whke embroidered
    tulle gown. Folds of embroidered
    tulle formed a portrait
    neckline on the short sleeved bodice
    and the very full skirt was
    floor length. Her embroidered tulle
    gauntlets matched her gown. A
    finger tip veil of imported French
    illusion was caught to a cap of
    lace and pleated tulle and was
    trimmed with pearls. She carried
    a cascade bouquet cf white roses
    and white mums. She wore a single
    strand of pearls, a gift of the
    groom.
    Mrs. James Onofrio, matron of
    honor, wore an intermission-length
    gown of turquoise crystalette fash- „
    ioned with a portrait neckline, fitted
    bodice, and full skirt. The
    matching headpiece of feathers
    was accented with a short veil
    scattered with rhinestones. The
    costume was completed with
    matching shoes. She carried a
    heart-shaped bouquet of talisman
    roses and yellow chrysanthemums.
    She wore a sterling silver choker
    and matching earrings, a gift of
    the bride.
    The bridesmaids, Mrs. William
    G. Hoefert and Mrs. Kenneth Regnet,
    wore costumes matching that
    of the matron of honor in shades
    of peacock and aquamarine. They
    carried heart-shaped bouquets of
    yellow roses and burnt colored
    chrysanthemums.
    Attending the bridegroom as
    best man was William C. Beebe,
    brother of the bridegroom. David
    P. Beebe, another brother, and
    Charles Wopperer served as ushers.
    The bride's mother wore an ice
    blue embroidered silk sheath dress
    with navy blue accessories and an
    orchid corsage. The bridegroom's
    mother wore a mink brown brocaded
    taffeta dress with pink and
    brown accessories and wore an orchid
    corsage.
    The bride's maternal grandmother,
    Mrs. Herman Ullrich,
    wore a gray print dress with bur-
    gundy accessories and wore a corsage
    of roses and pompons. The
    bride's paternal grandmother,
    Mrs. Charles Westphal, wore a
    charcoal gray print dress with
    black accessories and wore a corsage
    of roses and pompons.
    A wedding breakfast was given
    at Lovell's Restaurant for the im-
    mediate families. The table was
    centered with doll cakes repre-
    seating the bride and bridesmaids.
    A reception was held in the El-
    dredge Lounge for 350 guests. Fall
    flowers decorated the room. A
    tierred wedding cake centered the
    bridal party tabl. Guests were
    present from Youngstown, Medina,
    Lockport, Gasport and Newfane.
    Mr. and Mrs. Gordon H. Beebe
    left for a trip through the New
    England States. As her traveling
    outfit, the bride chose an avocado
    suit with caramel colored accessories
    and wore a white orchid
    corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Beebe are
    now at home in 447 Adam St.
    Pre-nuptial parties were given
    by Mrs. James Onofrio, Mrs. Kenneth
    Regnet, Mrs. William Hoefert,
    the Salem Sunday School Kindergarten
    teachers, and the Sigma
    Pi Rho Nu Alumni Sorority.

    celebrated their 50th
    wedding anniversary
    Sunday.
    They were the guests of
    honor at a dinner
    reception in Bedell's
    Candlelight Restaurant
    given by their daughter
    and son-in-law, Mr. and
    Mrs. Gordon Beebe of
    Fairport.
    The couple was
    married in Salem United
    Church of Christ, which
    was an Evangelical and
    Reformed church at the
    time of their wedding, on
    June 18, 1928, with the
    Rev. Andrew Hils officiating.
    Their attendants were
    Robert Butler and Miss
    Mildred-Struebing, both
    of whom attended the
    anniversary reception.
    Mr. Westphal's parents
    were the late Mr. and
    Mrs. Charles Westphal
    who celebrated their 50th
    wedding anniversary in
    1950. Mrs. Westphal is the
    daughter of the late Mr.
    and Mrs. Herman H.
    Ulrich who celebrated
    their 50th wedding anniversary
    in 1955.
    Both Mr. and Mrs.
    Westphal were employed
    by the Buffalo Bolt Co. of
    North Tonawanda!
    f o l l o w i n g t h e ir
    graduation in 1924. Mr.
    Westphal remained with
    the firm until the company
    ceased operation in
    1959. He then became
    associated with the R.T.
    Lumber Co., where he
    remained there until his
    retirement in 1974.
    For many years, Mr.
    Westphal served in many
    offices at Salem Church.
    He has also been active in
    Tonawanda Masonic
    Lodge where he served as
    master in 1956 and was
    appointed district deputy
    grand master of the first
    district of Erie County in
    1971. He is also an active
    m e m b e r of the
    Tonawanda-Grand Island
    Shrine Club.
    Mrs. Westphal, after
    many years of community
    service in Salem
    Church, Church Women
    of the Tonawandas and
    Women's Auxiliary to
    DeGraff Memorial
    Hospital, was employed
    by the continental Can
    Co. and at the opening of
    the Tonawanda Senior
    High School, became
    associated with the food
    service and was em-
    ployed as manager
    retiring in 1974.
    She is a life member of
    Sirius Chapter 301, Order
    of Eastern Star, and also
    served as a teacher in
    Salem Church school for
    more than 25 years. She is
    a member of the Sunday
    school group which has
    been active for 67 years
    under the direction of
    Miss Carrie Oswald.
    Since their retirement,
    Mr. and Mrs. Westphal
    have taken the op-
    portunity to travel and
    pursue several life long
    hobbies.
    Besides their only
    daughter, the couple also
    has two grandchildren,
    Kevin D. and Beth Ann
    beebe of Fairport.

    NORTH TONAWANDA - Charles E. Westphal, 82, of 364 Tremont St., died Sunday (Jan. 3, 1960) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a retired saw filer in the lumber industry. Mr. Westphal was a member of North Star Lodge No. 337, Knights of Pythias. Surviving are his wife, Jennie Raper Westphal; a son, Clifford S. Westphal, and a daughter, Mrs. Leonard J. Ossman, all of this city. Also surviving are four grandchildren and four great-Grandchildren. Friends may call between 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wattengel Funeral Home, where services will be conducted by the Rev. N. V. Blankenship at 2 p.m., Wednesday. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Westphal was a member of Payne Avenue Christian Church and the Loyal Circle Class of the church. Wife of the late Charles Westphal, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Hazel) Ossman of North Tonawanda; a son, Clifford Westphal of Tonawanda; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Schoelles of Tonawanda and Mrs. John Whiteley of Cooper City, Florida; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services were conducted today at the Wattengel Funeral Home. Inc., 307 Oliver St., North Tonawanda with the Rev. Robert L. Cook officiating. Burial in Elmlawn Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to Payne Avenue Christian Church.

    Herman H. Ullrich, 84, of 110
    Lake Road, Youngstown, a former
    Tonawanda alderman, died
    yesterday afternoon at Ransom-
    ville, General Hospital after a
    brief illness.
    He operated a grocery and
    m e a t bu s i n e s s a t Young and
    Scott Streets more than 35 years.
    He started working in the grocery
    store owned by the late
    John G. Wallenmaier at the age
    of 14.
    Later mr. Ullrich purchased
    the business and building and re-
    mained at the same location un-
    til 1938 when he and his family
    moved to Youngstown, N.Y.
    He was a Tonawanda alder-
    man in 1910 and served as trus-
    tee of Salem Church Council for
    many years. He was a director
    of Niagara Savings & Loan As-
    sociation more than 25 years.
    Mr. Ullrich is survived by his
    wife, Anna H. Proy; four daugh-
    ters; five grandchildren; a great-
    grandson; a sister and a broth-
    er. He and his wife celebrated
    their 59th wedding anniversary
    Feb. 16.
    Services will be Thursday at
    2 p.m. at Creasey Memorial
    Chapel, 138 Delaware St. Burial
    will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.

    Herman H. Ullrich and his wife, Anna, who were born
    in Tonawanda and were r e s i d e n t s here until 1938, will celeb
    r a t e their 50th wedding a n n i v e r s a r y Sunday at an open

    Mr. Ullrich, was born in Tona-
    wanda, Dec. 29, 1879, the son of
    the late William and Juliana Ull-
    rich, whose home was in Wheeler
    St. His wife, the former Anne H.
    Proy was born July 4, 1884 to the
    late John and Elizabeth Miller
    Proy also of Wheeler St.
    Wed in Salem Church
    Mr. and Mrs. Ullrich were mar-
    ried in Salem Evangelical and Re-
    formed Church, Feb. 16, 1905 with
    the Rev. John Wittlinger officiating.
    Their attendants were Mr.
    and Mrs. Gust Ullrich of Wheeler
    St. and the late Dell Thode and
    William Proy.
    Mr. Ullrich operated a grocery
    and meat business at Young and!
    Scott Sts. for more than 35 years.
    He started working in the gro-
    eery store owned by the late John;
    G. Wallenmaier at the age of 14.
    Later he purchased the business
    and building and remained at the
    same location until 1938 when
    they moved to Youngstown. Mr.
    Ullrich now specializes in raising
    fruit on his Youngstown Lake Rd.
    farm. He and his wife enjoy ex-
    ceptionally good health.
    Trustee of Church
    For many years Mr. Ullrich
    served as a trustee of Salem Evangelical
    Church council. He also was
    a director of the Niagara Savings;
    and Loan company for more than
    a quarter century.
    Mrs. Ullrich is a life member of
    Sirius Chapter 301, Order of the
    Eastern Star and during her residence
    here was active in the work
    of Salem Church.
    Mr. and Mrs. Ullrich are the
    parents of four daughters: Mrs.
    Clifford (Juliana) Westphal of Tonawanda;
    Mrs. Chester (Eleanor)
    Wein, North Tonawanda; Mrs.
    Russell (Electa) Houserman, Medina
    and Mrs. Thomas J. (Orma)
    Lee, Jackson, Miss.
    Their grandchildren are Diane
    Westphal, Anne Elizabeth Wein,
    Kathy and Kim Houserman and
    Debra Lee.
    Relatives and friends are invited
    to attend the anniversary event.

    Mrs. Julianna Ullrich, seventy-eight
    years old, died this morning at her
    home. No. 217 Wheeler street. She
    was the widow of the late William
    Ullrich. Surviving are three daughters,
    Mrs. Albert Waterstrat, Mrs. Herman
    Janke and Mrs. William Malchow,
    Jr., three sons, Karl, Gust and Herman
    Ullrich, eighteen grandchildren
    and one great grandchild, all of Tonawanda.
    Mrs. Ullrich had lived in
    Tonawanda for the past fifty-three
    years. The funeral will be held Friday
    afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late
    residence and half an hour later at
    the Salem Church, Rev. Andrew Hils
    of the Salem Church officiating. Burial
    will be in the Salem cemetery.
